Chapter 520: The scumbag is still scumbag (3/3)

Meng's body went limp and she collapsed on the kang with a pale face.

No one noticed that the cynical smile on Yun Wenfang's face disappeared as soon as he left his yard. His eyes were dark and deep, as thick as clouds that could not be cleared away, covering up all the frustration and pain in them.

The four big maids came in shortly after Yun Wenfang left. They were shocked to see Meng lying on the kang with a pale face and trembling all over, not moving at all. They all surrounded her.

"Miss!"

"What's wrong with you, miss?"

When they got closer, the maids discovered that Meng's face was covered with silent tears, and her eyes were empty and lifeless, as if her soul was possessed by something.

It was unknown how long it had been before Meng finally got up, rustling around. While wiping her tears, she told the maid, "Go pack your things."

"Miss? Why are you packing up?" The maids were puzzled.

Meng closed her eyes and said, "I want to go home to see my mother."

A senior maid advised, "Miss, tomorrow is the day when the eldest young master of the Yun family is getting married. It might not be a good time to go back now. Why not wait a few days?"

Meng shook her head with a look of despair: "No, let's go now, right now, immediately. I can't stay here for another quarter of an hour." After saying that, Meng lay down and started crying again.

The maids looked at each other and had no choice but to ask for instructions.

Although the elders of the Yun family have always been very tolerant of Meng, they still need to report to Madam Yun if they want to go out.

The eldest lady of the Yun family was currently fretting over Yun Wenting's wedding, fearing any mishaps would arise in his absence tomorrow. However, her usually well-behaved second daughter-in-law had arrived to cause further trouble. Madam Yun was somewhat displeased with her daughter-in-law's request, but she politely declined Meng's maid. The Yun family was getting married tomorrow, and Meng's departure from her husband's home to return to her parents' would undoubtedly spark gossip.

After the maid returned to report the eldest lady's intention, Meng gritted her teeth and for the first time accepted her mother-in-law's opinion: "No, I want to go back."

Meng didn't bother to pack any gifts and just left with a few dowries.

Initially, no one cared, not even Madam Yun. After all, Meng was usually quite well-behaved, aside from her tendency to cry easily, so no one dared to stop her on her way. It wasn't until the elders of the Yun family, distracted from their busy schedules, realized that Meng had gone back to her parents' home on her own that they realized the seriousness of the situation.

Tomorrow was a big day, and the Yun family didn't want to cause any trouble, so they sent someone to the Meng family to gather information, hoping to bring Mrs. Meng back first. Unfortunately, the person the Yun family sent to the Meng family was turned away. The eldest wife of the Meng family had the door locked and ordered that no one from the Yun family be allowed in.

Mrs. Yun guessed that it must be related to Yun Wenfang. She was furious and asked someone to call Yun Wenfang over. But how could Yun Wenfang just wait at home to be scolded?

The Yun family spent a chaotic and busy day.

On the second day, Yun Wenting was still nowhere to be seen. It was probably true that he really would not show up at the wedding. Fortunately, Yun Wenfang, the second young master of the Yun family, showed up before the Yun family went to welcome the bride.
