Chapter 139: Boarding the Ship (3/3)

As Ren Yaoqi walked over, he heard laughter and the sound of stringed instruments coming from inside. It was quite lively.

However, Dongsheng did not take Ren Yaoqi to the big flower hall. Instead, he walked around half a circle and then took Ren Yaoqi to the upper floor.

"Fifth sister, I have been looking through the local chronicles in the palace these days." Dongsheng suddenly said softly.

Ren Yaoqi paused, then continued walking: "Did you find any clues?"

Dongsheng shook his head, a puzzled look on his face. "I've looked through the county annals dating back nearly a century, and I've found a few families with the surname Qu in Yanbei, but none of them look like yours."

Ren Yaoqi was a little disappointed when he heard this, but he still nodded and said, "Thank you for your hard work."

Dongsheng glanced at Ren Yaoqi's expression and felt a little guilty, thinking that he could not help.

But he couldn't say anything more at this time because they had arrived.

The upper floor is not as big as the first floor, and the walls are carved and hollowed out, which makes it very windy. However, it is quieter than the lower floor.

Dongsheng stepped forward and lifted the bead curtain for Ren Yaoqi. The sound of water droplets colliding was very pleasant.

As soon as Ren Yaoqi entered, he saw Xiao Jingxi and Yun Wenting sitting opposite each other by the window, playing chess.

Xiao Jinglin sat at the low table in the corner, drinking tea and looking out the window, indifferent to the game between the two people here.

Compared to the hustle and bustle below, it is very quiet here, as if isolated from all the noise outside, forming a world of its own.

As if sensing something, Xiao Jingxi, clutching a chess piece in his hand, looked up first. Because half of his face was against the light, Ren Yaoqi couldn't see his expression clearly, but she only felt him nod in her direction. This also led Young Master Yun to tilt his head.

"Yaoqi." Xiao Jinglin called out to Ren Yao in a low voice, motioning Ren Yaoqi to come over and sit with her.

Ren Yaoqi knelt down and bowed to Xiao Jingxi and Yun Wenting, then walked towards the low table where Xiao Jinglin was sitting.

Seeing Ren Yaoqi sitting down and looking around, Xiao Jinglin said, "We came early. I'm afraid there will be too many people here soon. We will get off the boat then."

Xiao Jinglin had just finished speaking when he heard Young Master Yun's gentle voice: "If the princess doesn't like it, I will tell others not to come up."

"No need." Xiao Jinglin's words were still concise and to the point.

Young Master Yun over there didn't say anything else and continued to concentrate on the chess game.

Ren Yaoqi had just sat down when someone came in and whispered something in Young Master Yun's ear. Because there were few people here, even if the voice was lowered, one could still hear a few words, so Ren Yaoqi vaguely heard the words "Sister Wu".

Young Master Yun's expression remained calm as he waved his hand to dismiss the guests. He then calmly exchanged a few moves with Xiao Jingxi before saying, "A few guests have arrived. I'll go down and make some arrangements."

Yun Wenting got up and went out.

Not long after, Ren Yaoqi heard the sound of someone getting up again, and then Xiao Jingxi walked over.
