The beggar was packing his things. When he heard the call, he turned around and smiled at the person who reminded him. His originally cold face became much gentler because of this smile.
The beggar packed up his things. Huang Bantou had already led the people there. Several yamen runners immediately surrounded the beggar, laughing.
Huang Bantou had a knife slung over his waist, and he took three steps and two steps back, his eyes fixed on the horse, full of greed.
After all, he was a man who had seen the world. He could tell at a glance that this horse was a genuine Wei horse, and a top-grade one at that. Its strength and speed were top-notch. If it was taken to the horse market, even if it was sold at a low price, it could be worth two or three hundred taels of silver. It was a great treasure.
"Where are you from?" Huang Bantou glanced at the beggar and asked lightly.
The beggar remained as still as a rock, his face expressionless as he said calmly, "Wei!"
"I knew you were from Wei!" Huang Bantou sneered, "Those tattered boots on your feet are only worn by people from Wei."
The boots on the beggar's feet were already very tattered, but they were very different from the boots of Yan State. In addition to being high and deep, the most noticeable thing was that there was an arc-shaped bend on the back of the boots, like a moon, which looked quite beautiful.
Huang Bantou looked at the beggar again before asking, "What are you doing in Donghai County?"
"To make a living!"
"To make a living?" Huang Bantou sneered, "Is Wei State unable to survive?"
The beggar raised his head, his brows slightly tightened, and he said calmly: "Sir, have I violated any laws of Yan State?"
Huang Bantou gripped the hilt of his sword and said coldly, "You're a Wei man, dressed in rags, yet you own such a fine horse. What are you doing in my Donghai County? Hehe, are you a spy from Wei? I heard that Wei has an office called the 'Black Flag.' The Black Flag's members travel to various countries, gathering intelligence and secretly undermining their order. I think you're a member of the Black Flag."
"I'm not!"
"No?" Huang Bantou was about to step forward to pull the horse: "This is not up to you to decide. Come on, let's go to the government office, right? You can talk to the county magistrate."
Before he touched the reins, the horse suddenly snorted, let out a long neigh, raised its two front hooves, and was about to step down on Huang Bantou.
Huang Bantou was startled, but fortunately he still had some skills. He rolled on the ground and avoided the fatal kick from the horse. Although so, it was a heavy rain and the ground was already muddy. When he rolled on the ground, his whole clothes were immediately stained with mud, and he looked very embarrassed.
"Damn it!" Huang Bantou was furious. "Brothers, beat up this Wei spy!"
Several yamen runners responded and rushed towards the beggar without hesitation, swinging their killing sticks and hitting the beggar on the head and face. However, the beggar was like a rock and did not fight back. He let the killing sticks hit him like raindrops. After only a few hits, the beggar's forehead was broken and blood immediately flowed down.
"Master!" Han Qing clenched his fist and was about to rush over, but Han Mo held him back and whispered, "Wait a minute, I want to see how patient this kid is!" This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
