Chapter 9 Grandparents (2/2)

Everyone bowed and wanted to leave. Ren Yaoying curled her lips and looked at Ren Yaohua and Ren Yaoyin, somewhat reluctantly.

At this moment, a silver bell-like laughter suddenly rang out outside, and then the curtain was lifted, and a young woman in her twenties walked in with a reluctant girl.

The woman wore a fox fur coat with a pure purple brocade surface embroidered with a hundred butterflies, an apricot-yellow pleated skirt, and a bun on her head, with her hair tinkling like a yuanbao (a kind of yuan-shaped treasure) and her jewelry jingling. She had a sweet and pleasing appearance, and a pair of dimples on her cheeks that somewhat resembled those of Old Lady Ren.

"Oh, I'm late today?" The woman looked around in surprise, as if she was very surprised by her lateness. Then she immediately put on a sweet smile and said, "Father and Mother, please forgive me this time. You two elders know that I am always very active in paying my respects to you on weekdays. It is very rare for me to be late. I kowtow to you two elders."

Then she quickly pulled the girl who was standing next to her and knelt down in the middle of the room and kowtowed respectfully.

When she stood up, the younger generations like Ren Yaoqi came forward to pay their respects and called her "Fifth Aunt."

Old Madam Ren glanced at her and said, "I thought the rules in this mansion were going to be abolished. Everyone is claiming to be sick and can't come. I was just thinking of discussing with the old man to waive the morning and evening greetings. That would suit your wishes."

Fifth Madam Lin was not afraid when she heard this. Instead, she covered her mouth and smiled, looking very cute: "What are you talking about, mother? Other wives don't know, but if I don't come to Ronghuayuan to serve you every day, I won't even be able to enjoy my meals. It's the same with my Yu'er, isn't it, Yu'er?" After she finished speaking, she did not forget to gently pull her daughter's sleeve.

The eighth sister, Ren Yaoyu, looked about 70% similar to her mother. Upon hearing this, she quickly raised her eyes to look at the old lady and nodded.

Old Mrs. Ren snorted softly, but her expression was normal and not ugly, and it was obvious that she was not really angry.

"Father, mother, and daughter-in-law will serve you dinner."

Lin solemnly took off a pair of jade bracelets from her wrists and handed them to a maid standing nearby. She then stepped forward and stood beside the old lady, picking up a pair of silver chopsticks to prepare to serve the food.

Old Madam Ren glared at her and said, "Alright, why are you trying to be nice now? You're in the way! We don't need you here. Let your sister-in-law and nephew's wife come."

Lin pursed her lips and smiled, not insisting. She handed the silver chopsticks back to the eldest wife and said with a smile, "Mother dislikes me for being clumsy and unskillful. My eldest sister-in-law always pleases her more than me."

The eldest wife smiled modestly and did not argue with her.

Old Mrs. Ren looked at Lin, then at Ren Yaoyu, who had been feeling uneasy since she came in and kept looking out the south window.
