Ren Shixu smiled and said he understood, but Ren Shimin frowned and looked at his mother, but finally shook his head and continued drinking his tea.
The mother and son talked for a while. Old Lady Ren saw that although Ren Shimao was trying to have fun, his mind was not here. She knew it in her heart but pretended not to know. Instead, she said to Ren Shimin, "Li and Hua'er are back. You should go back and see them."
Ren Shimin was stunned for a moment before nodding and saying, "Yes, mother."
Ren Shimao stood up happily and said, "I'll go with my third brother. I'll go back and change clothes first, and then come back to talk to mother later."
Old Madam Ren glanced at him calmly: "Did I ask you to leave? If you stay, I have something to tell you!"
Ren Shimao was a little disappointed, but he sat down obediently and said with a smile: "Okay, I also want to spend more time with my mother, as long as you don't mind your son being dusty and his clothes are dirty."
Upon hearing this, Old Lady Ren snorted coldly and refused to fall for his trick.
Ren Shimin put down the tea bowl and stood up to leave. Before leaving, he paused in front of the maid who was serving him tea and said slowly, "The water temperature is not hot enough. Next time you serve this Wuyi tea, remember to use freshly boiled water."
"I'll remember this, Third Master." The maid replied with a bitter face and lowered her head.
Ren Shimin left in a carefree manner.
When he was about to reach Ziwei Courtyard, he saw from afar a figure standing at the gate of the courtyard. The figure was wearing a thick fur cloak and covering himself tightly with a hood.
As he got closer, the man seemed to see him and took two hurried steps forward, but he almost fell because he missed a step on the stone. His hood slipped down, revealing a delicate face.
Ren Shimin laughed heartily upon seeing this and walked over quickly. His cheerful and clear voice echoed in the melting snowy courtyard: "Yaoyao, are you waiting for Daddy?"
Ren Yaoqi looked at the handsome man striding towards her, looked at his still flying eyebrows, looked at how he even paid attention to his manners when walking, and tears blurred her eyes.
“Daddy…”
She once blamed her father for being so absorbed in calligraphy and painting that he didn't care about the affairs of the Ren family and had no say in the decisions of his elders.
But in the end, he fought for her with his own life.
Ren Yaoqi suddenly rushed over and hugged Ren Shimin, burying her tear-stained face in the lapel of his chest.
Ren Shimin was originally very happy, but now his body stiffened. He stared at his daughter's head with a troubled face. Finally, he couldn't help but put his hands on her shoulders and pushed her away.
"Yaoyao, you've made daddy's clothes dirty!" Ren Shimin looked at the water stain on his chest with disgust and accused.
Ren Yaoqi looked at his disgusted expression and chuckled, unable to cry anymore: "Daddy, you are still like this..." she said softly.
"What?"
Ren Shimin took out a handkerchief and wiped his clothes first, then he pinched the handkerchief with two fingers and handed it to Ren Yaoqi.
"Wipe your face quickly, it's as dirty as a cat."
Ren Yaoqi glanced at the handkerchief speechlessly, shook his head, and took out his own from his sleeve: "No, you are back,
I’m very happy.”
Ren Shimin threw the handkerchief away and patted Ren Yaoqi on the head: "Be good, Daddy remembered the clothes and jewelry you wanted, and bought you two big boxes. I'll have someone send them to your room later."
Ren Yaoqi was thinking about something when she saw Ren Shimin shift his gaze behind her and was stunned.
She turned around and saw Ren Yaohua, who was only wearing a rouge-colored cotton jacket and skirt, standing behind the door, looking at her and Ren Shimin.
"Ah, Yaohua is back?" Ren Shimin nodded at Ren Yaohua with a smile.
Ren Yaohua took a few steps forward and knelt before Ren Shimin, saying, "Father." Her posture was upright, and her lowered head made her seem less domineering and arrogant than usual. This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
