"Be patient. The carriage is parked at a farm not far ahead. There are medicines for wounds in the carriage." He lowered his head and said after the horse ran away from Zeng Kui and others.
After thinking for a moment, he added, "Although there's no doctor nearby, I'm still very good at bandaging wounds. I promise your legs won't become lame, so don't be afraid."
Ren Yaohua couldn't help but shed tears as she listened to these unsophisticated words of comfort. She hadn't cried since she learned she'd been kidnapped, ridden in a carriage with a dead man, or been forced to roll down a slope, her life or death uncertain. But now, she couldn't help but burst into tears as she lay in the masked man's arms.
The masked man looked down at the woman, who was crying more heartbrokenly than a child, completely oblivious to her appearance. He opened his mouth, unsure what to say, and finally patted her gently on the back. However, he only had two hands, and it was a bit inconvenient to control the horse and steady Ren Yaohua at the same time.
Fortunately, when the two of them arrived at the farm he had mentioned before, Ren Yaohua finally stopped crying.
The masked man carefully carried Ren Yaohua down from the horse and directly carried her into a farmhouse made of loess and thatch.
Ren Yaohua had been very well-behaved the entire time, like a bewildered and pitiful red-eyed rabbit. She didn't struggle even when the masked man held her, and she even sobbed occasionally. Where was the fierceness she had used to kick and bite people before? If Xiangqin were here, she would definitely think her young lady was scared silly or possessed by Ren Yaoying.
The masked man put Ren Yaohua down on the only earthen bed in the room. Ren Yaohua called out tentatively, "Lei...Uncle Lei?"
After settling Ren Yaohua down, the masked man glanced at her and said, "Hmm." He raised his hand and pulled off the veil covering his face, revealing a handsome face with clear outlines. It was Lei Ting, the head of the Lei family.
Ren Yaohua breathed a sigh of relief and was about to say something when Lei Ting stood up and walked out.
Ren Yaohua subconsciously grabbed his sleeve.
Lei Ting paused and turned around to look.
Ren Yaohua blushed and let go of her hand.
Lei Ting knew that Ren Yaohua was really frightened today, so he softened his voice and said, "The medicine box is in the carriage outside. I'll go get it in and bandage your wound."
Ren Yaohua nodded and said embarrassedly: "Thank you...thank you very much."
Lei Ting turned and left, and Ren Yaohua only then noticed a large pool of blood on the back of his right arm. She finally remembered that Lei Ting seemed to have been injured by an arrow, and the reason he was injured was because she bit him, causing him to miss the next arrow...
Now that they were safe, Ren Yaohua gradually regained consciousness and recalled everything that had happened.
Thinking back to how she had kicked, stomped, scratched, and bitten Lei Ting, and how many injuries she had inflicted on him, Ren Yaohua felt a wave of guilt and self-blame. She knew best how hard she had hit him.
