Ren Yiju was serious. He was a proud man and would not allow Qi to take away any needle or thread from the Ren family when packing up.
After hearing the news, the eldest wife rushed to stop him. However, Ren Yijun remained unmoved by her tears. He simply said, "Although I have left the Ren family, you are still my mother. When the Ren family falls, please come to Yunyang City to find us. Your son will take care of you until the end of your life."
The eldest wife originally wanted to ask her eldest son to help stop the youngest son, but Ren Yiyan did not come. The eldest wife was almost in despair. Finally, she went to see Master Ren and cried, "My sons are gone, what's the point of guarding this house? Sell it all! Whoever wants it can take it! Without your sons, even if you earn a lot of gold and silver, who can you leave it to in the future? If you don't sell it, the family will be broken up if you leave this house behind! Anyway, if they leave, I will follow my son! Do whatever you want with it!"
After decades of marriage, this is the first time that the eldest wife has quarreled with the eldest master.
After a while, the master covered his face and shielded his eyes, his voice trembling slightly: "Then sell it..."
Upon hearing this, the eldest wife immediately sent someone to stop Ren Yijun and Qi who had already walked out of the second gate. Ren Yijun learned that Master Ren had finally compromised, so he did not insist on leaving.
Master Ren asked someone to contact the Gao family, stating that he wanted to sell the Ren family's house and the few remaining mines in his hands, and asked if Gao was interested in taking over.
Although it wasn't Master Ren's original intention to sell off his property, his wife and children insisted, and he was exhausted and had no other choice. Remembering that the Ren family's foundation was ultimately destroyed by his own hands, Master Ren didn't leave his study for several days.
Before the Gao family responded, the news of the Ren family selling off their property spread, and the servants of the Ren family began to panic, worrying about whether they would stay or go.
Then the most troublesome thing happened to Mr. Ren. Old Mrs. Ren got the news from somewhere and started to make a fuss in her own yard.
The eldest wife had ordered that the news of this matter be kept secret, especially not to be heard by the old lady, but in the end for some reason the old lady still found out.
The eldest master went to see Old Lady Ren once. The mother and son talked for less than a quarter of an hour before Old Lady Ren started to throw a tantrum. She threw a teacup at him, causing blood to flow from the forehead of the eldest master.
Old Mrs. Ren refused to sell the Ren family's house and property, thinking that Master Ren had gone crazy.
Finally, the eldest wife had Master Ren helped down, and then she personally came to comfort Old Madam Ren, saying softly, "Mother, don't be angry. Master was just confused for a moment. I'll go and persuade him again, and he'll change his mind."
As she spoke, the eldest wife handed Old Lady Ren a cup of warm tea.
Old Mrs. Ren was finally comforted by the first wife, and she was indeed a little thirsty, so she took the tea bowl and drank half of it. After drinking it, she was about to lecture the first wife, but she couldn't even open her eyelids. Finally, she fell unconscious on her kang for unknown reasons.
The eldest wife leaned over and helped Old Lady Ren lie down, covering her with a quilt. Then she calmly instructed the maids, "The old lady has been in a bad mood recently and has been sleeping a lot. You must take good care of her."
