Chapter 372 Rescue

Bai Weiwei bit her lower lip, coughed a few more times, and stammered:

"Su Su...she...she just left..."

Fu Xingzhou stared coldly at Bai Weiwei and said, enunciating each word clearly, "You said she left? Where did she go?"

Bai Weiwei's eyes flickered as she avoided his gaze.

"I...I don't know..." Her voice was weak, but it couldn't hide her guilt.

Just then, several police officers pushed through the crowd and walked over.

The lead officer walked up to Bai Weiwei, showed her the arrest warrant, and said, "Ms. Bai Weiwei, you are suspected of hiring someone to commit murder. We are now arresting you in accordance with the law."

Bai Weiwei's expression changed drastically, and she took a step back in a panic. "What? Hired someone to kill? I didn't! You've got the wrong person!"

She looked to Fu Xingzhou for help, but found that his face was expressionless.

Fu Xingzhou ignored her and turned to Li Yulin, ordering, "Yulin, immediately send men to search Haiqiao, search every inch of it!"

His voice was deep and firm, carrying an unquestionable authority.

Li Yulin immediately accepted the order and turned to allocate manpower.

Bai Weiwei completely panicked. She struggled desperately, "I didn't! I didn't kill anyone! Xingzhou, you have to believe me, I didn't!"

She tried to grab Fu Xingzhou's arm, but he subtly avoided it.

...

After an unknown amount of time, all around was silent, with only the faint sound of waves crashing against the rocks.

Li Susu struggled to open her eyelids, her vision blurred, a white gauze obscuring her world.

What place is this?

What happened?

Her memories were like a tangled mess, impossible to unravel.

Her head was throbbing so badly that she couldn't help but groan.

At that moment, the door was pushed open.

A man in a white coat walked in, his tall figure blocking some of the light.

Li Susu squinted, trying hard to see his face clearly.

The man had a handsome face, his black hair was neatly combed back, revealing a pair of concerned eyes.

He smelled faintly of disinfectant, mixed with the salty smell of the sea breeze, which made her feel a little at ease.

"You're awake?" The man walked to the bedside, leaned down, and asked gently.

His voice was deep and magnetic, with a hint of barely perceptible concern.

Li Susu subconsciously tried to sit up, but found herself powerless.

"Where...where am I?" she asked weakly, her voice hoarse as if sandpaper was scraping the ground.

The man reached out and helped her lean against the headboard, his movements gentle and considerate.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe,” he reassured him. “I found you on the beach and brought you here.”

His Chinese is fluent, with a slight foreign accent.

Li Susu tried hard to recall what had happened before, but all she could remember was a chaotic scene.

Waves...argument...and more...

The man seemed to sense her unease and gently patted the back of her hand.

“Do you remember what happened?” he asked.

Li Susu shook her head, her eyes filled with fear and helplessness.

"I...I don't remember..."

"You don't remember anything?" the man repeated, his brows furrowing slightly.

The man put down the instrument in his hand, his gaze behind the glasses carrying a hint of solemnity.

He took off his mask, revealing a well-defined, slightly tired chin.

"You suffered a head injury, and there may be some aftereffects."

He paused, seemingly considering his words.
