Chapter 247 I figured out a compromise solution
"Prince Yong."
The emperor's gaze towards Prince Yong was too sharp.
"I'm here." King Yong responded quickly.
"Old uncle, you are old now, so you should stay in the capital and stay with me in the rear."
The emperor said lightly, with a hint of unquestionable majesty in his tone.
Prince Yong's heart sank, knowing that the emperor was on guard against him.
But he didn't dare to raise any objection and could only respond respectfully: "I obey your order."
Gu Junze left the pilgrimage temple. The dazzling light made him subconsciously squint his eyes.
He raised his hand to block the light, lowered his eyes, and walked down the stairs.
There are several times more guards in the palace than usual.
He hurried through the palace corridor, out of the palace gate, and rode as fast as he could back to the Marquis's residence. For some reason, a sense of unease grew stronger in his heart.
Just as he stepped into the gate of the Marquis' Mansion and hadn't even taken a firm step, he saw Ying Qing running towards him hurriedly with an extremely solemn expression.
"Prince, something bad has happened. The young lady is missing." Ying Qing knelt on one knee, his voice full of self-blame.
Gu Junze's body stiffened instantly, the aura around him suddenly turned cold, and he asked sternly, "Didn't I order you to protect her? How could you let her disappear?"
His voice unconsciously rose due to anxiety and echoed in the courtyard of the marquis's mansion.
His hands were clenched tightly, his knuckles were white, and he had completely lost his usual calmness.
Ying Qing lowered his head, feeling extremely guilty. "It was my fault for being careless. The young lady ordered me to deliver a letter, and Ying Wu and Ying Liu were deliberately led away."
Gu Junze's heart sank suddenly, and countless terrible thoughts flashed through his mind.
"Find him! Even if you have to turn the entire capital upside down, you must find him for me!"
His eyes were filled with murderous intent, and he turned to walk out, but just after taking a few steps, he was blocked by a group of soldiers holding spears.
The leading officer saluted and said, "My Lord, the Emperor has ordered you to rest well. You will have to go to the palace to keep vigil shortly."
Gu Junze stared at him with a sinister look and his eyes were as cold as a thin blade.
That look makes one's scalp tingle.
"Get out of here!"
The leading officers and soldiers felt a chill down their spines when they were stared at by Gu Junze, whose gaze seemed to have the power to cut people into pieces.
He could only bite the bullet and clasp his fists again, still maintaining a respectful attitude, but there was a hint of pleading in his words.
"Your Majesty, we are only following orders. I hope you will understand that keeping vigil in the palace is a serious matter. We dare not disobey the emperor's order."
Seeing this, Ying Qing instantly drew out the sword from his waist. The sword flashed with cold light, and he was ready to fight with the officers and soldiers.
Gu Junze quickly reached out to stop him, took a deep breath, and tried to calm himself down.
He knew in his heart that all this was the plan of that despicable villain. The emperor had broken his promise again and would not let him go easily.
Now that the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the State of Zheng were about to go to war, he had obviously become an important bargaining chip in the negotiations.
Gu Junze shouted anxiously to Ying Qing, "Go find someone quickly. Make sure you find the young lady as soon as possible!"
While quietly making gestures with his hands, only they could understand.
Ying Qing nodded slightly, a hint of understanding flashed in his eyes, and he quickly put away his sword.
The officers and soldiers looked at each other as they watched this scene, unsure whether they should stop Ying Qing.
Seeing this, Gu Junze said coldly: "The emperor ordered you to watch me. He is just my guard. Are you afraid that he will run away?"
After saying that, he waved his hand to signal Yingqing to leave quickly.
After Ying Qing left, Gu Junze suppressed his inner anxiety and pretended to be calm as he returned to Hongmeng Courtyard.
He paced back and forth in the room, feeling extremely anxious, and his eyes kept looking out the door.
Finally, a burst of hurried footsteps was heard, and Ying Qing's tall figure appeared at the door, carrying a person on his shoulders.
This person's figure is surprisingly similar to Gu Junze's.
Gu Junze walked forward quickly and saw that the person being carried in had a well-made human skin mask on his face. At first glance, he looked exactly like himself.
"Prince, the person is here." Ying Qing gently put the person down.
Gu Junze nodded slightly, a hint of urgency flashing in his eyes, and immediately ordered: "From now on, you are me, and you must pretend to be seriously ill."
The man obediently lay down on the bed, and Yingqing hurriedly took the quilt to cover him.
Ying Qing said, "Don't worry, Prince. Doctor Qian has given him medicine. Even the imperial physician in the palace won't be able to find out."
Gu Junze nodded and gave a few more instructions.
When the officers and soldiers got the news, they rushed to check it out.
They stood by the bed, looking at "Gu Junze" lying on the bed with a pale face and weak breath. Although they had doubts in their hearts, they did not dare to go forward to confirm.
One of the leading officers frowned and looked at him suspiciously. "What on earth is going on? Why did the prince suddenly become so ill?"
The fake Gu Junze stammered a few times, "I don't know either. Maybe I caught a cold last night. I'm weak to begin with, cough cough..."
The officers and soldiers looked at each other and felt that this matter was quite strange, but they could not find any flaws. In desperation, they could only send someone to the palace to report to the emperor.
Taking advantage of the time when the officers and soldiers left, Gu Junze and Ying Qing quickly disguised themselves, jumped onto the outer wall and left quietly.
These officers and soldiers were no match for them at all. If they forced their way in, they would be able to escape easily with their skills.
But Gu Junze was worried that if he forced his way in, innocent people would be implicated, so he came up with this compromise.
After Gu Junze left the Marquis' Mansion, he immediately asked his shadow guard to look for someone.
The shadow guard has been hiding in the city for many years, accumulating a lot of connections and intelligence networks, and has been asking around for Chu Ruohan's whereabouts.
Gu Junze was extremely anxious and wished he could find Chu Ruohan immediately and bring her safely to his side.
But this is like looking for a needle in a haystack...
On the other side, Chu Ruohan slowly woke up.
She just felt dizzy and had a sharp pain in her solar plexus.
She slowly opened her eyes and saw an unfamiliar room.
Above the head are beams and pillars carved with exquisite cloud patterns, and precious calligraphy and paintings are hung on the walls.
Beneath her lay a carved wooden bed with dragons coiling up from the bedposts. The bed curtains were made of the finest cloud brocade satin, embroidered with a lifelike pattern of a peacock spreading its tail.
Chu Ruohan sat up and looked around, her mind in a mess.
"Where is this? Why am I here?"
She tried hard to recall what happened before she fell into a coma. She only remembered that she ordered Ying Qing to deliver the letter and that she went to Anyang Hou's study. Then she was knocked unconscious from behind and lost consciousness.
Chu Ruohan was shocked to realize that she had overlooked one person, Gu Chengyan.
Just then, the door was pushed open, and a man in a gorgeous brocade robe walked in slowly. It was Gu Chengyan.
"You're awake." Gu Chengyan's voice was soft, with a smile on his lips.
Chu Ruohan looked at him warily and involuntarily stepped back a few steps towards the head of the bed.
"What do you want to do?" she asked coldly, her eyes full of vigilance.
