Chapter 250 Escape
Chu Ruohan's gaze fell on the thick bed curtains.
She reached out and touched the material of the bed curtain. It was strong and tough, perfect for making ropes.
She pulled down the bed curtains and expertly knotted and wove them into a long rope.
"Thanks to the skills Song Ruyan taught me."
While knitting, Chu Ruohan recalled the self-protection skills that Song Ruyan taught her when she was in the Marquis' Mansion.
At that time, I just thought it was a pastime, but I didn't expect it to come in handy at this moment.
After the rope was woven, Chu Ruohan looked up at the roof.
Buildings in this kind of deep mountain villa are usually neglected and indeed, there was a broken tile on the beam.
She tied one end of the rope to the bedpost and carried the other end with her, preparing to climb out of the broken place.
Chu Ruohan first tried to climb up carefully, pushed the bed to the wall, stood on it and reached the beam.
She took a deep breath, exerted force with her arms, and pulled her body up little by little.
"Huh... This is much harder than I thought." She felt a pain in her arm, but still gritted her teeth and persevered.
Finally, she successfully climbed to the hole in the roof. Carefully removing the broken tiles, Chu Ruohan crawled out of the room where she was imprisoned.
It was late at night, and the cool breeze caressed her cheeks, bringing a sense of freedom.
"Thanks to Song Ruyan, who urged me to practice martial arts. Otherwise, I would definitely not be able to climb up now." Chu Ruohan stood on the roof, panting and thinking.
She looked around and found that the manor was indeed hidden in the mountains, surrounded by dense forests. In the distance, she could vaguely see the lights of a few torches, which must be the lights of the guards.
Chu Ruohan stood on the roof and looked down, and couldn't help but gasp.
The distance from the roof to the ground was much higher than she had imagined.
"Be careful..." she said to herself.
Start moving slowly along the eaves, looking for a lower place to go down.
Chu Ruohan found a relatively low place where the branches of a big tree almost touched the eaves.
She carefully slid down from the roof and tried to grab the thick branch.
However, just as she was about to grab the branch, her foot slipped and she fell down.
Although she managed to grab the branch, the force of the fall was so great that she twisted her ankle severely.
"Hiss--" A sharp pain came from her ankle. Chu Ruohan clenched her teeth and tried hard not to make any sound.
She hung on the branch, her calves aching sharply, but now was not the time to dwell on that.
Chu Ruohan took a deep breath and continued to climb down. Every time she moved, she felt a sharp pain in her ankle and cold sweat dripped from her forehead.
Finally, Chu Ruohan landed safely on the ground, but the pain in her ankle made it almost impossible for her to stand.
She leaned against the tree trunk, gasping for breath, and checked her injuries.
The ankle was swollen and it hurt when touched, obviously it was seriously sprained.
Chu Ruohan frowned. This injury would undoubtedly affect her escape speed.
The sound of guards talking came from a distance, and Chu Ruohan immediately held her breath and hid herself by sticking to the tree trunk.
"Did you hear any sound just now?" asked a rough voice.
"No, it might be the wind." Another voice replied.
"Go and inspect it. Be careful and don't let the lady get away, or we'll lose our heads."
The footsteps gradually faded away, and Chu Ruohan finally walked out.
The house was much larger than she had imagined, with winding corridors and numerous rooms, like a maze.
When I opened the door, a night breeze blew in, carrying the fragrance of soil and grass.
It is surrounded by high walls with sharp iron spikes.
Chu Ruohan looked around and found a large tree with branches extending over the wall. If she could climb that tree, she might be able to get over the wall.
Just as she was about to act, a deep warning suddenly came from behind her: "Stop!"
Chu Ruohan turned around suddenly and saw a guard looking at her vigilantly with his hand on the hilt of a knife.
"Ma'am, you shouldn't be here," the guard said coldly.
Chu Ruohan's heart was beating like a drum, but she remained calm. She slowly raised the porcelain piece in her hand and said calmly, "Move aside."
The guard sneered, clearly not taking a woman holding a porcelain shard seriously. "Madam, please return to your room and rest. The master has ordered you not to leave."
"I don't want to hurt you." Chu Ruohan's tone turned cold, and there was a hint of murderous intent in her eyes.
The guard was frightened by her gaze for a moment, but he quickly recovered and drew the knife from his waist: "Madam, please don't embarrass me."
Chu Ruohan knew that as a weak woman, she was no match for the well-trained guards, but she could not give up.
Just as the guard approached, she suddenly raised the porcelain shard in her hand and stabbed it into the guard's eyes.
The guard instinctively took a step back. Chu Ruohan seized the opportunity, quickly bypassed him, and ran towards the big tree.
Now I can't care, my feet hurt...
"Stop!" the guard shouted and immediately chased after him.
Chu Ruohan knew that she couldn't match his speed, but she had already arrived under the tree.
She grabbed the trunk and climbed up with all her might.
The rough bark scratched her palms, but she ignored the pain and just wanted to escape from this place as soon as possible.
The guard had already chased to the tree. He reached out to grab Chu Ruohan's ankle, but she kicked him away.
"Catch her! Someone is trying to escape!" the guard shouted.
Soon, more footsteps came towards this side.
Chu Ruohan knew that she had to climb to the top of the wall before the other guards arrived.
She climbed onto a thick branch and carefully moved toward the wall. The branch swayed slightly under her weight, but it was still sturdy.
When she came to the wall, she found that the iron spikes on the top of the wall were sharper than she had imagined.
"Where do you want to go?"
A sudden voice sounded, and Chu Ruohan looked up. Gu Chengyan was sitting on the wall, looking at her with a smile.
In the moonlight, those eyes flashed dangerously in the darkness.
Chu Ruohan's heart trembled, and the porcelain piece in her hand unconsciously tightened a little.
"Let me go." Chu Ruohan's voice was cold and hard. Even though she was at a disadvantage, she was still unwilling to show weakness.
Gu Chengyan chuckled, and with a flash of his body, he landed in front of her.
His movements were as light as a feather and made no sound.
"Why are you so naughty?" Gu Chengyan used Qinggong to bring Chu Ruohan down from the tree. His movements seemed gentle, but they were irresistible.
Chu Ruohan struggled, but the pain in her ankle made it almost impossible for her to stand.
Gu Chengyan noticed something was wrong with her, looked down at her swollen ankle, and frowned.
"You're hurt." His tone was accusatory, yet mixed with concern.
"What does it have to do with you?" Chu Ruohan replied coldly, trying to break free from his grip.
Gu Chengyan didn't say anything and picked her up horizontally.
Chu Ruohan screamed, and the porcelain piece in her hand fell to the ground with a crisp shattering sound.
"Put me down!" She glared at Gu Chengyan, her voice full of anger.
