Chapter 625: Caught
"Pass?" Gu Qingchen stopped and touched his chin, looking mature.
She suddenly remembered something and her eyes lit up: "I suffered a loss once, but I won't be stupid again."
She came up to the two of them, lowered her voice, and said mysteriously, "The most important thing isn't the pass, it's the money! Without it, you can't move an inch!"
Looking at her expression of "I've seen through everything", Qian Zhenyun and Lin Jiayou looked at each other and saw helplessness in each other's eyes.
This girl is so stubborn.
Qian Zhenyun wanted to struggle: "Sister, even if there is money, the three of us are too conspicuous. What if we meet bad people..."
"What are you afraid of?" Gu Qingchen patted his chest. "My father taught me how to fight, and Aunt Song also taught me some self-defense techniques. Besides, don't I have you two?"
Lin Jiayou felt a little guilty when she looked at him, while Qian Zhenyun had completely given up.
He knew that it was useless to say anything now.
"Okay, then let's go back and pack our things first." Qian Zhenyun said weakly.
"Yes! Pack your bags and bring the money!" Gu Qingchen waved his hand excitedly, "Meet at the dessert shop on East Street in half an hour!"
The three of them agreed to act separately.
Half an hour later, at the dessert shop on East Street.
Gu Qingchen was carrying a bulging small bag, and Qian Zhenyun and Lin Jiayou each carried one.
The three of them huddled together furtively, like three thieves about to run away from home.
"How much did you bring?" Gu Qingchen asked.
Qian Zhenyun sighed and took out a small purse from his pocket: "I took out all the private money my father saved, a total of twenty taels."
Lin Jiayou also took out one, which was thicker than his: "I have fifty taels."
Gu Qingchen nodded with satisfaction, then patted his bag proudly: "A full five hundred taels!"
Lin Jiayou frowned, "Where are you from?"
Gu Qingchen narrowed his eyes and chuckled, "I got it from Uncle Qin Fang."
Qian Zhenyun and Lin Jiayou took a deep breath.
"Go! Leave the city!"
Gu Qingchen took the lead, and with his two "accomplices", they walked towards the city gate with a heroic and confident look.
There was a constant stream of people coming and going at the East City Gate, and carriages and horses were flowing. The soldiers guarding the city were checking the citizens leaving the city one by one.
The three half-grown children, carrying bags on their backs, blended into the crowd and were not particularly conspicuous.
Seeing the city gate right in front of him, Gu Qingchen was so excited that his heart almost jumped out.
Freedom! She's coming!
However, just as they were about to get out of the city gate, several figures blocked their way.
The leader was a middle-aged man in a steward's uniform, with a friendly but unquestionable smile on his face.
"Miss Qingchen, where are you going?"
Gu Qingchen's heart skipped a beat, and the spark of excitement was extinguished by a basin of cold water.
She raised her head and looked at the guards in front of her who were smiling but calm, and her calves felt a little weak.
She knew these people; they were from her own family.
"I... let's go out for a walk." She said stubbornly.
The steward smiled even more kindly: "The Duke has already instructed that you might want to go out for a stroll."
He deliberately emphasized the word "stroll around".
"The Duke also said that you were lonely in the mansion, so he asked us to take you to the Chu Mansion to stay for a while and keep your uncle company."
As soon as the steward finished speaking, Gu Qingchen's face completely fell.
Not only was she unable to escape, she was also taken directly to her uncle's house!
Qian Zhenyun and Lin Jiayou stood aside, not daring to breathe.
It’s over, the culprit is caught red-handed.
Gu Qingchen looked at the vast world outside the city gate and felt dizzy.
She slumped her shoulders dejectedly and cursed softly, "Damn Daddy, so cunning!"
How could she forget that her father's mind was more twisted than the Yellow River?
How could he not know what kind of person his daughter is?
This is not because he is afraid that she will be lonely, it is obvious that he has dug a pit long ago, waiting for her to jump in!
Half an hour later, at the gate of Chu Mansion.
Gu Qingchen was "escorted" and stood in front of the gate of his uncle's house.
After the two elders of the Chu family married their daughter-in-law, they went to the south to visit relatives and travel, and also inspected the family business.
In the huge Chu Mansion, only her unlucky uncle Chu Chenyu and aunt Zhao Qinghan are left.
Chu Chenyu got the news and hurried back from the yamen. When he saw his niece looking dejected and carrying a small bag, he was confused.
He held his forehead and sighed deeply as he watched the guards of the Duke of Zhenguo's Mansion bow and retreat.
"Your parents really found a good job for me."
Chu Chenyu looked at his niece's little face which was full of "I am very unhappy" and rubbed his temples with a headache.
He turned sideways and said to the two boys behind him who were shrinking their necks like quails, "You two, are you the young man from the Qian family and the young master from Prince Yong's mansion?"
Qian Zhenyun and Lin Jiayou trembled with fear and bowed quickly, "Greetings, Master Chu."
"Alright." Chu Chenyu waved his hand, his voice filled with the dignity honed by his experience in officialdom. "What happened today will not happen again."
"Since you are young and ignorant, I will not pursue this matter any further. Go home."
He summoned the butler and ordered, "Send two carriages to take these two young masters back to the mansion safely."
Qian Zhenyun and Lin Jiayou were as if they had been pardoned. They almost crawled after the housekeeper, not even daring to look back.
In a blink of an eye, only Chu Chenyu and Gu Qingchen, who was carrying a small bag and glaring at him angrily, were left at the door.
"Go ahead." Chu Chenyu led her into the front hall, sat down on the main seat, and picked up the tea that the servant had just served without even looking at her. "You're quite courageous. You've even learned to run away from home."
Gu Qingchen threw the bag to the ground with a dull sound.
She stiffened her neck and shouted unconvincedly, "They were the ones who left me first! They went out to play and left me alone in the capital. Why can't I go out and play on my own?"
The girl's voice was clear, filled with grievance and accusation, and echoed in the hall.
Chu Chenyu blew away the tea foam, took a sip slowly, and then raised his eyelids to look at her.
"So, you plan to take your two accomplices and five hundred taels of silver and go out into the world of martial arts?"
Gu Qingchen's face flushed when he hit the nail on the head, but then she became confident and said, "So what? I can live well on my own!"
"Yeah?"
Chu Chenyu put down the teacup with a slight sound. He leaned forward slightly and his eyes became sharp.
"Do you know what the situation is like outside the city? Do you know how many hungry wolves those five hundred taels of silver will attract?"
"Do you think that with your limited skills, you can deal with those human traffickers who specifically kidnap delicate young ladies like you?"
His voice was not loud, but every word was like a needle, piercing Gu Qingchen's heart.
Her father had spoken to her in this tone before, which meant that he was really angry.
