Chapter 256 Familiar Bell
Gu Chengyan was in this room, and Chu Ruohan didn't even have a chance to greet him or talk to him.
The doctor packed up his medicine box and left the room.
Chu Ruohan immediately said, "Can I go out now?"
"I promised you that I won't go back on my word." Gu Chengyan took a step forward and wanted to help her, but Chu Ruohan slightly turned sideways to avoid him.
"I can do it myself." She said lightly.
A hint of displeasure flashed across Gu Chengyan's face, but he quickly regained his composure: "Okay, slow down."
When they walked out of the room, Chu Ruohan realized that this was an exquisite garden. The winding paths led to secluded places, rockery and flowing water, and the scenery was indeed beautiful.
"This is a hot spring villa," Gu Chengyan introduced, "one of my favorite places."
Chu Ruohan secretly took note of this information.
"It's beautiful here." Chu Ruohan said softly, but her expression remained cold.
"I'm glad you like it," Gu Chengyan was in a good mood. "When your foot is healed, let the maid take you to the hot spring pool over there for a soak."
A faint sound of bells came quietly into her ears along with the breeze.
Chu Ruohan vaguely heard the sound of a bell yesterday.
Judging from the time she woke up after being knocked unconscious, this place should not be far from the capital. There was also the sound of a bell, so it must be the Great Compassion Zen Temple!
In the vicinity of the capital, the only place where such a long-lasting bell sound can be heard is the Great Compassion Zen Temple.
Why didn't she remember that there was a hot spring villa on the mountain of Fabei Zen Temple?
Gu Chengyan took her through a long corridor and came to a pavilion.
The pavilion is built on a small lake, surrounded by weeping willows, creating a picturesque scenery.
"I prepared this especially for you," Gu Chengyan said with a hint of pride, "I know you like reading, and this can be a place for you to study."
Chu Ruohan didn't comment and just walked towards the pavilion.
She needed to understand the layout of the manor and find a possible escape route.
Just as the two were standing in the pavilion, a guard hurried over and whispered a few words in Gu Chengyan's ear.
Gu Chengyan's expression changed instantly, and a hint of shock and anger flashed in his eyes.
He extended his hand to summon two guards and ordered them urgently, "Watch over my wife. I'll be right back."
After saying that, he looked at Chu Ruohan deeply and left quickly.
Chu Ruohan looked at Gu Chengyan's hurriedly leaving back, and a hint of doubt flashed in her eyes.
She felt that something was wrong and couldn't help but worry about Gu Junze's safety.
Gu Chengyan hurried to the study, his face as gloomy as water.
"Are you sure the plan at Pine Forest Villa has failed?" he asked coldly.
The guards kneeling on the ground didn't dare to raise their heads: "Yes, Third Master. They escaped the wildfire, and Prince Gu is still alive."
Gu Chengyan slammed his hand on the table, causing it to make a dull thud. "You piece of crap! You can't even handle something so simple!"
The guard's forehead was covered with sweat: "We lost a lot of people. Gu Shizi's shadow guards are all masters..."
"Enough!" Gu Chengyan shouted angrily, murderous intent surging in his eyes, "Kill without mercy, no matter the cost, to kill Gu Junze!"
The guard took the order and left. Gu Chengyan stood in front of the window, his fists clenched so tightly that the knuckles turned white.
"Gu Junze, you shouldn't be alive! As long as you die, Han'er will be mine..." he whispered with gritted teeth.
Chu Ruohan was guarded in the pavilion by two guards. Gu Chengyan's abnormal attitude just now made her wonder whether it was related to Gu Junze.
A faint worry crept into her heart. If Gu Junze came to save her, would he fall into Gu Chengyan's trap...
Chu Ruohan raised her leg and tried to walk out of the pavilion, but was stopped by two guards.
"I'm just walking around. Gu Chengyan told you to watch me, but he didn't say I can't walk around." Chu Ruohan continued, "Don't worry, my foot is injured, I won't run away."
The two guards looked at each other, both unmoved.
They haven't forgotten the commotion the lady made last night.
A dark-skinned guard said, "Madam is still here, waiting for the Third Master to come back."
Chu Ruohan took a deep breath, knowing that the two guards would not let her out of the pavilion, and then tentatively asked, "I just heard the bell. I used to go to the Great Compassion Zen Temple often to burn incense. The incense money there was really quite a lot."
The guards' faces changed slightly when they heard this, but they remained silent.
No matter what Chu Ruohan said, the two guards remained silent.
These guards are really loyal to Gu Chengyan.
"The morning bells and evening drums of Dabei Zen Temple are the most distant and profound."
Chu Ruohan sighed, "It's not pleasant to be imprisoned. At least let me know where I am."
The two guards remained silent, watching her every move vigilantly.
Just when the air froze, Gu Chengyan's figure appeared outside the pavilion.
"You can go down." Gu Chengyan waved his hand, and the guards immediately retreated respectfully.
Chu Ruohan noticed that Gu Chengyan's expression was a little gloomy, with a hint of anxiety between his brows.
"What happened?" Chu Ruohan asked calmly, but secretly observing his reaction.
Gu Chengyan walked into the pavilion, stood in front of her, and looked down at her: "Nothing, just a little thing."
"Did Gu Junze come to save me?" Chu Ruohan asked directly.
Gu Chengyan's pupils shrank slightly, and then he sneered: "You really have full confidence in him."
"He won't give up on me." Chu Ruohan said firmly.
"Yes, he did come." Gu Chengyan's voice turned cold, "But he has gone to see the King of Hell."
Chu Ruohan's heart was shocked, and she suppressed her panic: "What did you do?"
Gu Chengyan smiled strangely: "A wildfire is enough to burn him to ashes."
"You..." Chu Ruohan stood up suddenly. The pain in her ankle made her stagger a little, but she still glared at Gu Chengyan angrily, "You lunatic!"
Gu Chengyan reached out to help her, but she pushed his hand away.
"Don't touch me!" Chu Ruohan's eyes burned with anger. "You keep saying you love me, but you want to kill the person I love the most?"
Gu Chengyan's expression instantly turned ferocious: "As long as he dies, you will be mine!"
The anger in Chu Ruohan's eyes suddenly disappeared, and she chuckled.
"If Gu Junze really died in the wildfire, you wouldn't have left so anxiously just now. He should be safe and sound. Your plan failed, and you were so angry that you wanted to deceive me."
"You will never succeed." Chu Ruohan said coldly, "Gu Junze won't die so easily."
A sinister glint flashed in Gu Chengyan's eyes: "Really? Then we'll wait and see."
He picked up Chu Ruohan and turned to leave the pavilion.
He was taken all the way back to the room and placed on the bed.
Gu Chengyan looked down at Chu Ruohan: "You'd better pray that he really can survive, otherwise, you will only have me forever."
Chu Ruohan: "Even if Gu Junze died, my heart would not have room for you."
Gu Chengyan stepped forward and grabbed her wrist: "Han'er, don't force me."
