Yu Sheng glanced at Gu Ye's car disappearing around the corner and then opened the text message from 0715.
The first two times the other party sent chat screenshots, Yu Sheng thought this time would be the same, but to her surprise, it was a woman's selfie!
The woman wore a collared floral nightgown, her hair was shoulder-length and hadn't been permed or dyed, looking as natural as her unmade-up face. She playfully looked at the camera and made a heart shape with her other hand on her face.
The woman wasn't particularly beautiful; she was just an ordinary girl you'd see anywhere on the street, but she gave off a comfortable and natural vibe.
Could it be... that she is Gu Ye's mistress?
Yu Sheng was incredulous.
In her imagination, Gu Ye's affair partner should be someone like Jiang Jiang!
Yu Sheng didn't know how long she had been staring at the photo until she heard Sister Wang calling her, which brought her back to her senses.
She had been out for too long, and Yu Jing was worried, so she asked Sister Wang to come out and check on her.
When Yu Sheng returned to the house, Shang Yan was also preparing to leave. Yu Jing persuaded him to stay for the night, as he didn't have a driver and calling a designated driver would be too much trouble.
Since Shang Yan moved out five years ago, he has never stayed overnight at home. Yu Sheng thought he would refuse, but to her surprise, he actually agreed!
Before Yu Sheng could react, Yu Jing stuffed Shang Yan's coat from the sofa into her arms and asked her to help him upstairs.
Just when Yu Sheng thought the arrogant Chamber of Commerce would refuse, he looked at her with hazy, drunken eyes, as if waiting for her to help him up...
Yu Sheng frowned as she looked at Shang Yan, finding him very strange tonight. Could it be—possessed by a ghost?
After hesitating for a moment, Yu Sheng walked up to Shang Yan and said, "Brother, let me help you upstairs."
"Um!"
After receiving Shang Yan's permission, she helped him up and walked upstairs.
Although Shang Yan has moved out, Sister Wang cleans and ventilates the bedroom every day, and the bedding is changed every once in a while, so it is ready for immediate move-in.
Yu Sheng helped Shang Yan into the house and sat him down on the bed. She then hung up his coat and suit jacket and whispered to Shang Yan, who was pinching his brow with his eyes closed, "Brother, you should rest early. I'll go out first."
She had just taken a step when her wrist was gripped tightly by an icy hand.
Yu Sheng turned around and looked at Shang Yan, wanting to ask him if there was anything else.
Before she could speak, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her forcefully, causing her to fall into his arms.
Everything happened so suddenly that Yu Sheng was caught off guard. Her mind went blank as Shang Yan's slender fingers caressed her fair face, his dark pupils filled with desire...
Yu Sheng's heart skipped a beat, and she asked in a trembling voice, "Brother... what are you going to do?"
As Yu Sheng finished speaking, Shang Yan's hand, which was gently stroking her cheek, froze. The desire in his eyes vanished abruptly, and he returned to his usual aloof and unapproachable demeanor, the state that Yu Sheng was most familiar with!
She looked at him, her body stiff as a brick, too afraid to move. Then, he pushed her forward forcefully, removing her from his embrace.
When Yu Sheng was pulled into his arms, she was caught off guard; when he pushed her away, she was also caught off guard and almost fell.
After regaining her footing, she glanced at him timidly, but he didn't look at her. Instead, he lowered his eyes and seemed to be thinking about something. Not daring to disturb him, she ran outside.
Only when the door slammed shut did he look up at the closed door.
After watching for a while, he looked down at his right hand, which had just touched Yu Sheng's cheek, still bearing the smooth feel of her skin...
Yu Sheng had just returned to her bedroom.
She looked visibly shaken.
All she could think about was the scene of Shang Yang pulling her into his arms and gently stroking her cheek.
He must have been drunk and mistook her for his ideal woman!
Even though Yu Sheng knew why Shang Yangang had treated her that way, she still felt strange.
They are only siblings in name only, and have no blood relation whatsoever.
His actions towards her were truly embarrassing.
She prayed silently in her heart—
Hopefully, Shang Yan won't remember that part when he sobers up tomorrow!
As she was thinking this, there was a knock on the door.
She immediately tensed up, looked at the door, and asked, "Who is it?"
"I!"
Yu Sheng breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Yu Jing's voice and got up to open the door.
Yu Jing looked at Yu Sheng and asked, "Is your brother asleep?"
After Yu Sheng responded guiltily, Yu Jing said again, "Let me see your marriage certificate!"
Yu Sheng hesitated for a moment, then turned and went inside. Yu Jing followed her in and closed the door behind her.
Yu Sheng took the marriage certificate out of the drawer and handed it to Yu Jing.
Yu Jing opened the book, and the first thing that caught her eye was a photo of Yu Sheng and Gu Ye.
She stared at the two photos for a while, then carefully read the information on them before closing the document, looking at Yu Sheng with an expression that suggested she wanted to say something.
Yu Sheng guessed what she wanted to say, but she didn't speak or ask. The mother and daughter sat in silence for a while before Yu Jing took her hand and asked, "How are the preparations for tomorrow's performance going?"
After Yu Sheng told her the truth, Yu Jing said, "It's been a long time since we, mother and daughter, have had a chat. I originally wanted to have a good talk with you, but you have to go to rehearsal tomorrow morning and have a performance in the evening, so please get some rest!"
"Okay, you should get some rest too!"
Yu Jing stood up, handed the marriage certificate she had been clutching to Yu Sheng, and then left.
She thought Yu Jing came to see her to ask what was wrong between her and Gu Ye.
But she didn't ask a single question.
Could it be that... she didn't notice?
No!
With her mother's keen observation, she must have noticed it.
