Yu Sheng developed post-traumatic stress disorder after the car accident.
Her conversation with Qiao Weiyang triggered her illness; she had no idea what was happening outside of herself.
The suffocating feeling of death and helplessness enveloped her. The rusty, bloody stench in the air made her dizzy. Just as she was about to drown, a male voice came from the darkness—
He kept repeating, "It wasn't you who did it, it wasn't you who did it, it wasn't you who did it..."
The man's voice was like a faint ray of light shining into her dark world, giving her the support of her faith. She slowly regained her senses, slowly opened her eyes, and saw that she was in a man's arms.
Looking up, she saw an exceptionally handsome face, with well-defined features and an air of nobility emanating from its skin and bones. A pair of long, beautiful peach blossom eyes were staring straight at her.
Yu Sheng suddenly felt that those eyes and that face were both familiar and strange.
Familiarity comes from the similarity in form.
It feels strange because God is wrong.
In the past, Shang Yan never showed his emotions; he always looked at everyone with a cold and distant expression. But at this moment, the way he looked at her was like... like looking at a lover who was about to die.
Yu Sheng didn't know why that word had popped into her head. As she lowered her eyes in confusion, Shang Yan asked, "Are you awake?"
When Yu Sheng looked at him again, his face had returned to its usual appearance.
What she just saw, was it... a hallucination?
It must be, absolutely!
"Mr. Shang, I am Sheng Sheng's father!"
Yu Sheng turned her head and saw Qiao Weiyang looking at Shang Yan with a fawning expression.
That expression clearly indicated that she wanted to use her father-daughter relationship with him, and her relationship with Shang Yanpan.
She felt heartbroken because he didn't care about her when she fell ill, but instead thought about currying favor with her. She also felt ashamed because the person he wanted to curry favor with was Shang Yan!
In an attempt to salvage even a shred of dignity and pride, she tried to say she didn't know Qiao Weiyang, but before she could utter a word, Shang Yan grabbed her from behind.
His tall figure blocked her view of Qiao Weiyang, preventing her from seeing his expression, but she heard him utter a single word in his utterly cold voice—
"roll!"
This word was clearly spoken to Qiao Weiyang.
Is he... defending him?
That's not right. Given his personality, he should have seized this perfect opportunity to launch a sarcastic and cynical attack on her. Why would he be protecting her?
Perhaps he wasn't protecting her, but rather had a grudge against Qiao Weiyang.
Now that you've gotten rid of Qiao Weiyang, it's time to mock her!
As for why he would hold her and comfort her after her illness flared up, it wasn't because he cared about her, but because he was afraid that something might happen to her and affect the businesses.
After Qiao Weiyang left, Shang Yan saw Yu Sheng's pale face as she pondered something. He was a little worried and wanted to ask her if she was feeling better, but he couldn't bring himself to say it.
He glanced at her hand hanging by her side, recalling the icy touch of her wrist when he had just grabbed it, said "Wait for me here," and turned to enter the convenience store.
When he came out again, he had two bottles of drinks in his hand.
He handed a bottle to Yu Sheng: "Buy one get one free."
Convenience stores often run these kinds of promotions, so Yu Sheng had no doubts.
I thanked them and accepted it, only to find that it was warm.
She was ice-cold all over, even her heart was cold. The sudden warmth made her happy, but she tried hard not to show it. However, Shang Yan noticed.
He was secretly pleased to see her clutching the drink tightly in both hands, but he tried his best not to show it. He disguised it very well, and Yu Sheng didn't notice.
She lowered her eyes, waiting for Shang Yan's mockery, but Shang Yan calmly took a sip of his hot drink and then turned and walked towards the restaurant.
He took a few steps and saw that Yu Sheng was still standing there, so he shouted, "Hurry up!"
Yu Sheng responded and walked over.
As soon as she approached him, he turned and continued walking forward. She followed him at a distance of one step, mentally bracing herself for his harsh verbal attacks.
But he didn't say a word until the two of them reached the door of the private room.
Seeing the two of them enter the house one after the other, Yu Jing asked, "Why did you two come back together?"
Yu Sheng glanced at Shang Yan, and seeing that he sat down without responding to Yu Jing's words, she said, "It just so happens that we ran into each other."
Yu Jing glanced at the drinks in their hands with her shrewd eyes and smiled, "Why did you only buy drinks for the two of you and not for us?"
Yu Sheng opened her mouth, about to tell the truth, when Shang Yan looked at Gu Ye and said with a grin, "Mother-in-law wants a drink, why don't you hurry up and buy it?"
Yu Jing assumed that the drink in Shang Yan's hand was bought by Yu Sheng, and she was happy that she had finally figured out how to maintain a relationship with Shang Yan, so she teased her.
Unexpectedly, Shang Yan turned her words on Gu Ye, and his face turned somewhat ugly. He forced a smile and said, "I was just joking with Sheng Sheng."
Shang Yan leaned to one side, toying with his teacup: "Gu Ye and I were just joking."
After handing over the reins of the business to Shang Yan, Shang Shichang stopped interfering in the company's affairs. However, having dominated the business world his entire life, how could he not see through every clash between Yu Jing and Shang Yan?
The two of them,
One is his wife, with whom he shares a bed and stays by his side.
One of them was his blood relative and the heir to the business.
He said he was nobody, so he could only pretend to be confused and let them do as they pleased. As long as they didn't go too far, he would turn a blind eye.
But Shang Yan was really going too far at this point, targeting not only Yu Sheng but also Gu Ye. He said in a deep voice, "Let's eat!"
Yu Jing immediately chimed in, "Yes, let's eat. All the dishes are served. Shichang, raise a glass!"
Shang Shichang glared at Shang Yan and picked up his wine glass: "This year, our family has grown from five to six people. We hope to grow to seven next year, and it would be even better if we could grow to eight."
