Chapter 2
Song Zhehao had accepted the fast-travel mission before, so he was not surprised by the unfamiliar scene in front of him.
When Song Zhehao traveled through time, there was a trend of people going out to work in the village. The original owner was clamoring for An Cai to give birth to a son, but had not yet mentioned that he needed capital to start a business.
Song Zhehao got dressed and got off the kang. He looked at Song Miaoer, who was only seven years old. A loving smile appeared on the corner of his mouth. He leaned down and kissed Song Caoer lightly on the forehead.
After going out, Song Zhehao took the hoe and ran straight to his own field.
Thanks to the original owner's memories, Song Zhehao quickly found his own land and saw An Cai busy working in the field from afar.
In other people's fields, there were couples working together, but An Cai was alone. The crops in the fields were also not doing well, just like the thin An Cai.
Seeing Song Zhehao approaching, everyone was surprised. Neighbor Chen Dasao deliberately shushed Song Zhehao and shouted, "The sun is rising from the west! Someone who never works in the fields is actually doing it now. How many lifetimes of blessings has An Cai accumulated?"
Song Zhehao could hear the thorn in his sister-in-law's words, but he was not annoyed or angry. He knew that they were both hard-working women and knew the hard work of farm work. He sympathized with An Cai, but also disliked the original owner.
This is all understandable.
Song Zhehao listened, smiled and said: "Sister-in-law, you are mistaken. The sun does not rise from the west. It is not that I am blessed because An Cai married me, but that I was able to marry An Cai because I accumulated blessings for several lifetimes."
Hearing this, Mrs. Chen stuck out her tongue in surprise, and quickly waved her hand to call over the surrounding peasant women, saying, "Everyone, come and listen. How thoughtful are these words?"
When the peasant women in the fields heard this, they all rushed over with an expression of wanting to watch the fun.
Song Zhehao knew that they all had bad intentions.
They knew a thing or two about the original owner's family.
I know that the original owner is useless except for being good-looking and sweet-talking.
An Cai was stunned by his deception and foolishly acted as a nanny for this man. They were so smart that they would not fall for his tricks. It would be fine if he said this at home, but he dared to be so shameless in public. They felt it necessary to "uphold justice".
Seeing that everyone had arrived, Mrs. Chen pointed at Song Zhehao and said, "Zhehao, I believe what you say! But just knowing that you are blessed is not enough! You also have to cherish your wife and feel sorry for her, don't you think?"
Chen Dasao's words immediately resonated with the peasant women.
Song Zhehao thought this made sense and said, "Sister-in-law, you are right."
Seeing Song Zhehao nod, Mrs. Chen continued, "Let me see! You're so concerned about your wife, but you're just saying it. You've never even been to this huge piece of land, leaving it all to An Cai alone. She still has to take care of the children at home. Even if An Cai is made of iron, she can't stand this kind of hardship, right?"
"Look at all of us, look at An Cai, it's a new society now, how can you exploit people like this? You're even more corrupt than the landlords in the old society!
Hearing what Chen's wife said, everyone looked at each other in bewilderment. Her husband even came over and scolded her. He smiled at Song Zhehao and said, "Don't take it to heart, brother! Your sister-in-law is a shrewd person. She doesn't mean what she says."
Song Zhehao understood them. He knew that no matter how indignant they were, they were outsiders after all. It was a matter between the couple, so why should they say such harsh words?
As soon as Mrs. Chen said this, everyone stared at Song Zhehao's face, fearing that Song Zhehao would turn hostile and no one would come down to the stage.
However, Song Zhehao was not angry. Instead, he looked relieved and said sincerely, "Sister-in-law Chen can say this, which shows that she is a kind person. Moreover, she spoke up for my An Cai. Don't blame me, sister-in-law. I can't thank you enough."
"Sister-in-law," Song Zhehao said sincerely, "I won't say anything more. Just wait and see what I do in the future. If I continue to be like what you said, I will be too ashamed to appear in front of you again."
After saying this, Song Zhehao picked up the hoe and walked towards An Cai.
Everyone looked at Song Zhehao's back and felt a little confused.
He is obviously a notorious scumbag, but why doesn't he act like a scumbag at all today? Not only is he not a scumbag, but he is actually quite honest, making people feel that what he said is from the heart.
An Cai, who was standing by, had already seen this scene, but she did not rush over. Instead, she lowered her head and continued to hoe the ground.
An Cai knew that Mrs. Chen often scolded Song Zhehao in front of her, although she did so out of kindness and out of concern for An Cai.
However, Song Haozhe was her husband after all, and it would be embarrassing for her to be criticized so harshly by others. He must have been making fun of him again. If she walked over rashly, she could only feel uncomfortable, but she had no power to refute. She might as well pretend to be deaf and dumb.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Song Zhehao approaching. Without looking up at him, An Cai complained softly, "Why are you here instead of staying at home?"
An Cai said this, but in her heart she was actually saying that why not just stay at home and be bullied? But saying this would be hurtful, so An Cai didn't want to say it.
Song Zhehao smiled sweetly, then asked, "How can I sleep if I stay at home and you work in the fields?"
An Cai was moved when she heard this, but then she blamed herself for being useless, thinking that people were just talking and she was so stupid as to take it seriously.
An Cai said, "I'm not so old that I can't move. What's the big deal about doing this kind of work?"
When Song Zhehao heard this, his face turned serious and he said, "That won't do! If your own wife doesn't feel sorry for you, how can you expect others to feel sorry for you?"
After saying that, Song Zhehao looked around, left a small piece of land that was easy to hoe to An Cai, and then he wielded the hoe and started to hoe a large piece of land that was difficult to hoe.
And what about An Cai?
At first, I just thought that Song Zhehao came here today just to cover up his tracks and shut up those who said he was a gigolo. In fact, he can't do farm work at all and doesn't know how to do it!
But even so, An Cai was satisfied.
An Cai thought, it doesn’t matter if she feels sad, as long as no one else sees it, hiding it is better than being indifferent, right?
Although Song Zhehao is lazy, he is good-looking, sweet-mouthed, and good at coaxing people. Isn't that good?
Besides, if Song Zhehao was a perfect person, would he still like me?
An Cai originally thought so, but after seeing Song Zhehao's skillful hoeing posture and the hoeing effect produced in a short time, An Cai was indeed a little stunned!
This is not a deception, it is clear that he is here to work sincerely.
In a short while, Song Zhehao finished hoeing his own piece of land and then hoeed the rest of An Cai's land.
At this time, it was noon and the sun was hot. Other families still had half of their harvest left. Looking at An Cai's results, the peasant women all glared at their men.
Mrs. Chen even cursed, "Look at Song Zhehao. He's never done farm work before, but he can do it so fast. Do you still have the nerve to call yourself an old hand?"
Hearing this, An Cai couldn't help but feel relieved. This made her happier than being praised herself.
Song Zhehao has always been a scar for her, and she hated others to "expose" it. This is the first time someone has praised Song Zhehao to her face.
Look at Song Zhehao again. Although the sun is scorching and he is sweating profusely, his previous frail appearance is gone. Instead, he looks more handsome and manly.
At this time, Song Zhehao came over, took a look at An Cai who was lost in thought, smiled knowingly, smoothed the strand of hair stuck to her forehead, and said, "My wife is home. I will cook for you when you get home."
After hearing this, An Cai was stunned and thought that she must have heard it wrong.
But An Cai was not mistaken. As soon as he returned home, Song Zhehao went into the kitchen and locked the kitchen door, fearing that An Cai would come in to help.
Although he is over 1.8 meters tall, he doesn't seem clumsy at all when cooking, but rather does it with great skill.
In a short while, a dish of fried eggs with leeks, a dish of cold-mixed radish, and a dish of stir-fried cucumber were served on the table.
After cooking, Song Zhehao went into the inner room again, dressed Song Miaoer who had just woken up, and then brought her out to eat together.
During the meal, Song Miaoer sat on Song Zhehao's lap. Song Zhehao fed his daughter lovingly and kept picking up food for An Cai.
An Cai took a bite and found that the dishes cooked by this man who had never been in the kitchen were exceptionally delicious.
His daughter, An Miao'er, seemed a little shy because of being doted on by her father. Her little face was flushed. She didn't say anything when asked, but only nodded sincerely.
Looking at her daughter's appearance, An Cai smiled heartily, but then she remembered that Song Zhehao had said that he wanted a son. The worry in her heart rose again, and she unconsciously said, "How great would it be if it was a boy?"
When Song Zhehao heard this, he paused with his chopsticks and said seriously, "What's wrong with a daughter? I just like daughters. I wouldn't trade them for ten sons. I just love this precious little one of mine."
After hearing this, Song Miaoer buried her head in her father's arms.
An Cai was touched when she heard this, but she thought that this was not what Song Zhehao really thought. He said this just because he didn't want to make his daughter sad.
Although it was a lie, An Cai was content.
Song Zhehao knew everything about An Cai's thoughts. He was familiar with the original plot and knew the original owner's character. If he said this suddenly, it would definitely not convince An Cai. In his heart, a daughter and a son were the same.
Song Zhehao knew that his words could not move An Cai. In the future, he could only prove it with actions and let An Cai know that these were his true feelings.
After lunch, Song Zhehao washed the dishes first, and then told An Cai that he was going out.
An Cai asked her what she was going to do?
Song Zhe smiled and said, go find something that will allow An Cai to live a good life.
An Cai thought Song Zhehao was joking, so she didn't reply.
Looking at Song Zhehao's back as he walked out, An Cai felt that today was like a dream. What a beautiful dream!
How she wished she could keep dreaming and never wake up.
