Chapter 108 Jealousy
Nick's raucous voice sounded like a rusty knife scraping against my eardrums.
Outside the stadium, Sakuragi's loud laughter pierced through the glass windows, mingling with Akagi's shouts as he coached his teammates.
Rukawa Kaede suddenly gripped the basketball tightly with his knuckles, and the sound of the basketball scraping against the floor stopped abruptly.
He turned around, his eyes sharp as ice blades piercing the incessantly chattering American: "So noisy!"
Nick continued muttering to himself, "Love requires careful selection, not just a momentary hormonal impulse. You must choose someone you love, and you must be restrained when in love, not letting love cloud your judgment."
He deliberately poked at Rukawa's heart: "You should have been focused on practicing, but because of her, you lost the focused you on the court."
Nick smiled slyly. He didn't care whether he could fool Rukawa Kaede; he just wanted to create some ripples in their relationship.
Love is like that; the slightest breeze can stir up trouble.
Rukawa slammed the basketball hard onto the floor, startling Nick into taking a half-step back.
The ball came straight towards his feet!
Does love require calculating gains and losses?
Rukawa tugged at his collar, wiping the sweat from his chin; his eyes blazed beneath his damp hair. He swiftly grabbed the basketball that had rolled back, and in the instant he jumped, Nick caught a glimpse of the taut line on Rukawa's jawline—
Nick stumbled and dodged Rukawa Kaede, who brushed past his ear.
"Bang!"
The sound of a dunk faded away.
Behind him, Nick heard the boy sneer: "What I've always wanted is her."
"Phew..." Nick patted his chest, still shaken.
If he said a few more words, Rukawa Kaede's basketball would really hit him on the head.
Nick then began to observe the training of the other trainees.
The Shohoku High School team looks incredibly professional. Nick knows perfectly well who's behind all of this—
He secretly pondered that with Hanon being so focused and dedicated, it wouldn't be an easy task for the coach to take her away...
Half an hour later.
The moment Hanon entered the arena, Rukawa was completing a spot jump shot, and the air currents he created upon landing hit Nick in the face.
Just as Nick uttered that cloying "Nini," Rukawa Kaede had already stepped between the two, flicking the still-rolling basketball into his palm with his toe.
Nick: Fuck!
Hua Yin took a towel and wiped away the beads of sweat that were about to drip from his chin, saying apologetically, "I'm sorry, Xiao Feng, I have to talk to the coach and the others about something, so... I have to cancel our coffee date after training."
Rukawa Kaede remained expressionless, looking down at the deep finger marks on the basketball's surface. He said indifferently, "Oh."
Although Rukawa Kaede didn't seem to care, Kanon still felt that something was off.
Hana hugged his arm, her eyes curving into crescent moons: "I'm so sorry, but I'll definitely come find you as soon as I'm done, okay?"
Rukawa Kaede lowered his eyelashes, meeting Kanon's beautiful blue eyes, and said softly, "Okay."
Nick's gaze lingered between Kanon and Rukawa, and he raised an eyebrow, asking, "Hey, you two, are you each other's first love?"
Hanon and Rukawa were both taken aback.
Kanon continued to look at Rukawa, signaling with her eyes that she was waiting for his answer.
She waited for two or three seconds, but Rukawa Kaede just pursed his lips and didn't answer.
Silence reigned all around.
The onlookers from Xiangbei, who had been laughing and joking, now dared not even breathe loudly.
"What is Nick saying?!" The Shohoku players cursed inwardly, glaring at Nick with venomous looks.
Kanon suddenly realized something, subconsciously released Rukawa's arm, and tried to break the awkward atmosphere, saying softly, "Then...you guys train."
A hint of displeasure flashed across Rukawa's face, but he quickly regained his composure and nodded in agreement.
Hanon knew Rukawa Kaede too well. Her mind raced, and within seconds, countless thoughts flashed through her mind. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something.
However, Rukawa Kaede did not give her a chance. He turned around, walked onto the court, and started shooting.
Hanon stared at Rukawa Kaede's indifferent back of the head, and a strong sense of annoyance quickly overwhelmed her.
Finally, she looked away and turned to leave the stadium.
Rukawa Kaede suddenly started running back and forth.
The sound of the shoes rubbing against the floor grew increasingly violent.
When Akagi heard the dull metallic thud of the basketball hitting the back of the rim for the fifth time, he finally kicked Sakuragi in the butt: "Go ahead and tell that kid to stop going crazy and ruining the equipment!"
"Hey gorilla~ Isn't this what a captain should do? Could it be... you're admitting that this genius is the next captain?"
"Idiot! Go now!"
"Leave it to this genius!"
Sakuragi grinned and leaned closer, jumping up to try and block Rukawa's hat—
Rukawa Kaede flew past, brushing the red-haired genius's scalp.
"Bang!"
The rim appeared to spring forth with spiderweb-like cracks.
"Aaaaaah, you damned fox, you're trying to murder me!!!"
Rukawa ignored Sakuragi and ran to retrieve the ball.
Behind him came Sakuragi's furious roar, "You stinky fox! Let's fight one-on-one if you dare!"
Everyone looked at Akagi: Now look what's happened, the two of them are wreaking havoc on the gym together!
Akagi:-_-##
It was late at night.
Hanon held a hairdryer and dried her wet hair.
My mind is blank.
The US college basketball season begins in the fall, and universities are already preparing. DK University only made it to the quarterfinals last year, and Coach Holzer hopes she will return to the US to coach the team.
However, she couldn't go to the United States at the moment, and because of the kindness of Coach Holzer and Nick, she couldn't sit idly by while the team was in trouble, so she worked with them to develop a training plan that addressed the players' strengths and weaknesses.
At the moment of parting, Coach Holzer suddenly asked her if she would go with Rukawa if he decided to go to the United States.
Hanon had no idea that Coach Holzer would have feelings for Rukawa.
The thought of Rukawa Kaede caused Kanon's emotions to become a jumbled mess.
After tidying up, she lay down on the bed, exhausted.
"Thump, thump, thump."
Hana was taken aback and asked in confusion, "Who is this?"
"I."
Upon hearing that familiar, cold, deep voice, Huayin rushed to the door without even putting on her shoes.
She opened the door: "Xiaofeng, it's so late, why aren't you resting yet?"
The summer pajamas were made of a light and thin material, and before anyone noticed, the thin shoulder strap on Hanon's shoulder quietly slipped off.
Rukawa Kaede's gaze unconsciously followed her. The dazzling white skin made his pupils shrink, and a glint flashed in his eyes, like a bottomless abyss, yet with ripples rolling beneath.
"for you."
Kanon was forced to drink an Americano, and she was a little dazed. She turned her head and glanced at the clock.
3 a.m.
"Thank you... Did you go out of your way to buy it for me after training today?"
"Um."
Stared at so intently by Rukawa, Kanon suddenly felt her throat go dry: "It's late, you should go to bed early too..."
May I come in?
"Come in."
Hana stepped aside to let him in. She had just put the coffee on the table when, a second later, her waist tightened, and Rukawa Kaede lifted her up and carried her quickly to the bedside.
Before Hana could react, the black figure pressed down on her. Rukawa Kaede held the back of her head and kissed her without warning, his tongue plunging in and silencing her words.
Without warning, and with perfect precision, he sucked on Huayin until she almost suffocated.
Breathing was taken away.
A wild, predatory kiss.
Like a violent storm.
The kiss covering her lips was hot and scalding, with an irresistible aggressiveness. Her neck was firmly held, and she was involuntarily pressed against him, completely falling into his control.
Hana's heart pounded with fear, and she had no choice but to push Rukawa away, their breaths catching in her throat, the sound of his deep, hoarse panting reaching her ears.
Rukawa Kaede's light kisses traced the corners of her lips, gently landing on Hanon's cheek as he whispered in a seductive voice, "Nini, I love you."
Then, he bowed his head reverently.
At that moment, it was as if something seeped into Hana's blood, swirling and turning endlessly.
Rukawa Kaede continued to trace the outline of Kanon's tongue, without using force, sliding it past her teeth. It was such an irresistible feeling that Kanon wanted to grasp it, but he always managed to slip away.
Suddenly, his hand moved down, abruptly interrupting her tender thoughts, and Hana woke up from the atmosphere that Rukawa had created for her.
"What are you doing!" Hana's nerves tensed up suddenly, and she pressed down hard on Rukawa Kaede's wrist.
When she met Rukawa Kaede's eyes, her heart felt like it was going to explode.
Those eyes were dark and intense, as if they wanted to crush everything that belonged to her and take it all into their world, leaving her no room or space, only absolute possessiveness.
"Let's talk this out...!" Hanon's voice was visibly panicked and trembling slightly, and her body involuntarily began to struggle.
Rukawa didn't respond to her. Hanon's face flushed, and she struggled even harder.
Rukawa grabbed Kanon's hand, trying to push him away, and kissed her fingers.
His breath seeped between Hanon's fingers, and Hanon subconsciously squeezed her fingers together tightly. She had a strange feeling that even though Rukawa hadn't done anything, she felt as if he had completely devoured her.
"You don't think I'm like Sakuragi Hanamichi, only wanting to hold hands with my girlfriend to and from school, do you?"
Rukawa Kaede's voice was calm, but beneath that calmness lay an unyielding determination that seemed to ruthlessly crush all of Kanon's struggles and resistance.
“Nini, you are mine, and I am also a man with normal needs.”
"...Rukawa Kaede! Are you crazy?!" Hana's body stiffened; she could feel his...that place...ready to go.
No matter how much she liked Rukawa Kaede, and no matter how normal such things were in Japan, she knew that she would accept him sooner or later, but not now!
"Or is it that you only want to do such intimate things with your first love?" The words carried a dangerous undertone.
When Rukawa Kaede mentions "first love," he feels as if countless nerves in his brain are being stimulated and then snapping one by one.
He only thinks about practicing every day and is too lazy to think about anything else. He doesn't think about it much now either.
But he was jealous, so jealous he was insane!
"Smack!"
A crisp, clean slap landed on Rukawa Kaede's face.
All was silent.
It was as if the whole world consisted only of the heartbeats of two people.
Rukawa Kaede tilted his head slightly to one side, and a faint pink handprint was clearly visible on his pale cheek. His thick and long eyelashes drooped down, forming a shadow that completely concealed the emotions in his eyes.
"Are you awake?" Hana asked, suppressing her inner turmoil as she straightened her clothes.
Rukawa seemed a beat slow to react, turning his head and staring directly at Hanon's face, his expression both bewildered and innocent.
Hua Yin met his gaze steadily, pursed her lips, and said in a light tone, "I've only ever had one boyfriend in my life, so the one who can't forget their first love is probably you, right?!"
Rukawa's pupils suddenly contracted, a glint of light flashing in his eyes. After a moment, he stammered, "...What do you mean?"
"Who on earth keeps a photo of their childhood sweetheart in their wallet and takes it out to look at it from time to time?"
