"Boss, how much is this tripe?" Ye Cheng pointed to a dark brown lump on the beef cutting board.
This is beef tripe. Cows have four stomachs, and the best part for hot pot is the tripe. You can eat a slice for eight seconds and it's incredibly crispy.
However, tripe has always been quite expensive, and I don't know how much it costs per pound now.
"Beef tripe is 12 yuan, honeycomb tripe is 13 yuan, which one would you like, handsome?" The owner was very enthusiastic.
Ye Cheng also loves to eat honeycomb tripe, and sometimes he feels that it is more cost-effective to put honeycomb tripe in hot pot than regular tripe, since only the top part of regular tripe is delicious and the bottom part is not as good.
As for honeycomb tripe, the entire piece has the same texture. It's also more chewy, making it a rare delicacy.
"One of each, and then cut me some beef for hot pot."
"Okay, take a look. Beef tripe, honeycomb tripe, and 2 jin of beef, that's 76 yuan in total."
Ye Cheng waved his hand, indicating that it was okay.
This huge pile was quite heavy even for Ye Cheng himself, yet it only cost a little over 70 yuan. It's really unbelievable.
After buying the beef, Ye Cheng went and bought more than a dozen packets of hot pot base, including both spicy and mild varieties. Knowing his nature, he figured he'd probably use it every now and then.
As for the dipping sauce, Ye Cheng bought two boxes of sesame paste. Although he didn't like it himself, he didn't know if his older brother and sister-in-law wanted it.
Actually, Ye Cheng used to eat sesame paste as a hot pot condiment at first, but after trying garlic oil dipping sauce, he abandoned sesame paste and only ate it when eating lamb rolls.
I just love the kind of oil-based dipping sauce; it has a refreshing sesame oil flavor with a hint of red.
As soon as you bite into a piece of tripe, the sesame oil drips into the bowl along the texture of the tripe. You can imagine the delightful sensation even without eating it.
Besides these, Ye Cheng also planned to buy some vermicelli, which kids love to eat.
As soon as he turned his head, he saw a familiar figure standing not far away, secretly watching him. When he turned his head, Li Yong hurriedly squatted down and pretended to be buying vegetables.
Ye Cheng's expression hardened. What a coincidence?
I bumped into you at the entrance of the appliance store earlier, and now I'm bumping into you again at the vegetable market?
That's a bit too coincidental.
Ye Cheng quietly went to the tofu shop and bought some dried tofu and vermicelli, basically completing his hot pot ingredients.
As for vegetables, Ye Cheng wasn't picky; his older brother had plenty in his vegetable garden.
Ye Cheng glanced behind him out of the corner of his eye, and after he walked out, Li Yong also quickened his pace.
Ye Cheng sneered, "Just as I thought."
He sped up again and rushed out of the market, but instead of going to the parking lot, he stood to the left of the gate.
A dozen seconds later, Li Yong also rushed out, and immediately began looking around, trying to figure out which way Ye Cheng had gone.
Li Yong was wondering where Ye Cheng had gone when a loud, boisterous voice came from behind him.
"Oh, isn't this Uncle Li Yong? What a coincidence that you're here too."
Ye Cheng walked out from the side with a look of surprise on his face.
When Li Yong saw that Ye Cheng had discovered him, his face flushed red and then paled in turns, taking a while to react before he forced an awkward smile.
"Oh, it's the second brother! What a coincidence, what are you doing here?"
Looking at Li Yong's face, which was distorted by his lies, Ye Cheng was basically convinced that this guy had deliberately come to follow him. However, if asked, he would definitely not say.
"I'm just going into town to buy some groceries, look." Ye Cheng showed Li Yong the item in his hand.
Li Yong looked down and said in a fake tone, "I bought a lot of meat. The second son is rich now."
After Ye Cheng finished speaking, he stared at Li Yong with a harmless expression and said, "Uncle, why are you at the market? And you're not buying anything. Are you here to follow me?"
Li Yong panicked and looked around. "No, why would I be following you? I... I just arrived and haven't bought anything yet."
"You haven't bought anything yet? Then hurry up and go in and buy some. The vegetables there are good and cheap. Buy a lot, Uncle."
Seeing Ye Cheng standing there waiting for him to go in, Li Yong could only wave his hand helplessly, "Then I'll go in."
"Go ahead, Uncle, buy more."
Li Yong reluctantly walked inside. After taking a few steps, he looked back and saw Ye Cheng still standing at the door watching him.
He could only squat down and pretend to haggle with the vegetable vendor. When he turned around after buying the vegetables, Ye Cheng was gone.
This time he didn't dare to run out; Ye Cheng's shout just now almost scared him out of his wits.
By the time he walked out normally, Ye Cheng had already disappeared.
Damn it, they even followed me.
Ye Cheng had already left the market on his bicycle. He was a little puzzled as to why Li Yong, who had no grudge against him, was following him.
Could it be that Mr. Qian was right?
Li Yong had already shaken off, so Ye Cheng ignored him for now. He checked the time and it was about time, so he bought some fried chicken and hamburgers at KFC and headed back.
Fried chicken is something you crave if you don't eat it, but eating too much of it can be annoying.
This is for Dou Dou. My little nephew can't be neglected. He calls me "Second Uncle" so affectionately.
Ye Cheng returned to the village at 4 p.m. and drove straight to his older brother's house.
Hearing the sound of a motorcycle, Jiang Yunxiang came out curiously, and Dou Dou followed. Upon seeing Ye Cheng riding the motorcycle, Jiang Yunxiang asked curiously,
"Acheng, whose car is this?"
Ye Cheng got out of the car proudly and tapped the brand-new metal sheet. "Sister-in-law, I bought this myself. It will be more convenient to go into the city in the future."
"Second Uncle, you have a motorcycle now? I want to ride it too."
Children can't resist new things, and they immediately ran over to touch it out of curiosity.
"DouDou, don't touch it like that, you'll break it." Jiang Yunxiang scolded softly.
"Sister-in-law, it's just a means of transportation, what's the big deal about breaking it?"
I bought a hot pot and some vegetables; let's have hot pot tonight.
Ye Cheng took the induction cooker, microwave oven, and dishes out of the car.
"So much meat, and tripe too! How much does this cost?" Jiang Yunxiang exclaimed softly.
"It's not much, sister-in-law. Please cut it for me. I'll take Dou Dou for a spin." Ye Cheng picked up Dou Dou and sat her in front of him, then straddled her.
The motorcycle roared to life and sped off, accompanied by DouDou's cheerful laughter.
To be honest, the village wasn't very big. Ye Cheng and Dou Dou drove around for a bit and then stopped in front of Xiao Hu's house.
Xiao Hu was sitting at the door chatting with his mother when he saw Ye Cheng's motorcycle and jumped out immediately.
With a face full of surprise, she said, "Brother, you really bought it?"
"I bought it, it'll be much easier to get into town from now on. Want to come up? Let's take a drive around."
Ye Cheng found that his mindset had become much younger after his rebirth, and he even started to enjoy things like being wrapped in iron.
