Chapter 21 Li the Cripple: Do you know that many people went out to sea today?

In my previous life, I worked at a big company, relying on coffee to keep me going every day, constantly commuting on the subway, and even meals were only eaten in 5 minutes.

There's never been such a leisurely time like now, where the aroma of noodles mingles with the fragrance of the earth, making one feel truly intoxicated.

Ye Cheng couldn't help but close his eyes, take a deep breath, and feel a sense of comfort.

Before he could finish enjoying himself, he heard a crash and something fell over.

When he opened his eyes, he saw that the rascal Xiao Hu was standing at the gate of the yard, looking at Ye Cheng with an embarrassed expression. "Um, bro, your gate is too flimsy."

Ye Cheng gave him a speechless look. "It's your fault that it's not sturdy. You're punished by having to help me tidy up the yard today."

"Huh? Cleaning again?" Xiao Hu's face immediately fell when he heard about cleaning.

"No, brother, aren't we going beachcombing today?"

"I'm not going, I'm taking a break today." Ye Cheng slurped up the noodles, and thought, "Hmm, it's not quite right without ham sausage. I'll have to buy some next time."

Upon hearing that they weren't going to go beachcombing, Xiao Hu was a little confused. "Wait, bro, we were doing just fine, weren't we? My mom cried again last night, why aren't we going today?"

Ye Cheng was speechless. What's wrong? Do you really want to make your mom cry?

"Going there today won't do any good. You'd better just stay home and clean the yard with me."

"Oh, then I'll listen to you."

That's one good thing about Xiaohu; he's simple-minded. Once he acknowledges you as his elder brother, he'll listen to you. He's a bit like Yide.

Ye Cheng also wants to make money. He doesn't have a cell phone yet, his house is so dilapidated, and he rides a bicycle all day. He needs to improve his life.

Living in the countryside is fine, but the conditions must be good.

Ye Cheng ate a bowl of noodles, then looked around but couldn't find a single hoe. The only tools he had were the two shovels he used for beachcombing.

"Then, let's use this for the job. Let me explain the plan to you."

"Huh? What's planning?" Xiao Hu was completely bewildered. A lousy yard can be swept up, what's there to plan?

"Nonsense, such a big yard, we can't waste it, it's such a nice yard."

"What's so great about this yard? Everyone has one," Little Tiger muttered.

A yard is practically unimaginable in the city; it's something only found in villas. And you can't just plant anything there because of the most powerful creature in the world—the property management.

He used to dream of having a yard where he could grow his own flowers and vegetables, but in reality, all he had was two vases of asparagus fern placed in front of his computer.

"Then, I'll divide it into two sides, left and right. I'll use one side to grow flowers and vegetables, and on the other side, I'll dig a fish pond to raise fish, and then put a doghouse there to raise dogs."

"Yes, it would be best to plant another tree there."

"It would be best if there was a rockery in the fishpond."

“The middle path is paved with cobblestones.”

Ye Cheng stood in the middle of the courtyard, pointing east and west, roughly dividing the courtyard into sections.

Xiao Hu's face darkened, and the shovel in his hand fell limply to his side. "Brother, this is a huge project. I can't do it."

Ye Cheng scratched his head, realizing that the project seemed a bit too big.

"Okay then, can you at least clear all these weeds for me first?"

Anyway, let's clean up the yard first.

"I can do this, weeding is no problem for me." This little tiger is no problem at all, and having a shovel makes things much easier.

The two squatted on the ground and cleaned it up little by little.

Farm work is really not an easy task. Ye Cheng couldn't take it anymore after less than an hour.

"Take a break, Xiao Hu, take a break first." Ye Cheng plopped down on the ground, not caring that he was already dirty enough.

Xiao Hu sat down next to Ye Cheng, lit a cigarette for him, and then looked at Ye Cheng with a fawning expression, "Brother, look how long I've been working with you. How about we go beachcombing this afternoon?"

"Damn, you want to go beachcombing again? You're addicted to it."

"Brother, who wouldn't want to make money? We have nothing else to do anyway, right?" Xiao Hu looked at Lin Feng with a pleading expression.

"Then why don't you go by yourself?"

"Brother, don't tease me. It's not like I haven't been there before. The problem is, they don't give me anything. It's different with you. I make money!" Xiao Hu gave a thumbs up.

"You've even learned to flatter now, huh? Okay, then we'll go after lunch. But let's get this straight, following me doesn't guarantee we'll get anything; we might end up with nothing."

Upon hearing Ye Cheng's agreement, Xiao Hu jumped up excitedly, "Okay, brother, I'll go back and wait for you after lunch."

After saying that, he disappeared without waiting for Ye Cheng to speak.

Ye Cheng shook his head. Young people are just not mature enough. But when he looked back at the yard, he instantly understood. Damn it, you kid, you don't want to help me with the work, do you?

Forget it, this isn't something that can be made in a day or two. Ye Cheng threw down the shovel and took a break.

Ye Cheng had his own reasons for agreeing to go beachcombing.

Today his luck value is 20, and he wants to experience what a luck value of 20 really feels like, and whether he will really end up with nothing.

However, there's a problem now: it seems like we haven't figured out what to do for lunch.

Looking at the empty refrigerator, I was truly speechless. There wasn't a single vegetable in it, let alone any meat.

I should have brought some of the braised meat from yesterday.

I just ate instant noodles this morning, and now I feel a bit tired of eating them again. I need to eat something else.

Sigh, I kind of miss the era when food delivery was everywhere. If you wanted to eat something, you could just take out your phone, place an order, and have it ready immediately.

And then there's KFC. Although it's considered junk food, I still crave it sometimes when I haven't had it for a while.

Now, there's no other way but to go to the convenience store and see what they have for sale.

There's a small shop in the village run by Li the Cripple. He was injured years ago and became lame, so he opened this little shop. It's not a big place; he sells groceries, cigarettes, alcohol, and drinks.

As soon as he entered, Li the Cripple stood up enthusiastically and looked at Ye Cheng with a playful expression.

Ye Cheng touched his face. "What's wrong? Is there something there?"

Li the Cripple shook his head. "Nothing much, just checking out the most prominent figures in our village lately."

"What influential figure? What do you mean?" Ye Cheng asked, puzzled.

"You don't know? These past few days, the whole village has been talking about you. They say you seem to have finally seen the light. Not only are you not such a jerk anymore, but it's also like your luck has turned around. You've made a lot of money from beachcombing."

Ye Cheng smiled bitterly to himself. Had he been discovered so easily?

It's that obvious.

"Catching seafood depends on luck. I've been having some good luck lately, so it's not a big deal," Ye Cheng said dismissively.

"This is nothing! Do you know how many people went out to sea today?" Li the Cripple said in an exaggerated tone.

"So what if we go to sea? What if no one goes to sea? What does that have to do with me?"
