Ye Cheng, caught in the middle, looked at the two of them curiously. "Weren't you arguing before? Are you fine now?"
"Tch! Mind your own business. Xiaorou, come here, let's work together and not let him take advantage of us."
"Yeah, he was even hugging someone's waist underwater, shameless." Xiao Rou made a face at Ye Cheng.
Ye Cheng blushed. "Is this my fault? You're so heavy, I would have sunk if I hadn't been holding you."
"Bullshit, you're the heavier one!"
The three were having a good time bickering when suddenly a mournful voice came from ahead.
"Can you guys be a little more considerate? When you're flirting, you should at least think about how I feel, okay?"
The two women then noticed that Xiao Hu was still steering the boat ahead. They could only glare at Ye Cheng fiercely before continuing their conversation.
Once you find a woman you like, you can talk about so many things.
They talked about everything from hair to toenails, using all sorts of technical jargon, which left Ye Cheng completely bewildered.
Both of them were soaked to the bone and unable to continue fishing, so Ye Cheng had no choice but to return to port.
Under the golden setting sun, the fishing boats transformed into rough, charcoal-like lines, drawing a beautiful arc in the blue waves.
Laughter from the two women occasionally drifted from the boat. The sea breeze caressed his face, and Ye Cheng suddenly felt a sense of peace. Life should be like this.
In the distance, a small dot blocked the ship's path.
"Damn it! Big Yellow!" Ye Cheng pulled the throttle and slowed the boat down.
"What? Big Yellow is back?" Xiao Rou, with her sharp ears, heard it immediately and stood up in surprise.
"Hey, what's Big Yellow chewing on?"
Ye Cheng looked over and, sure enough, Da Huang had something in its mouth, which looked like a seashell.
After adjusting the position, Ye Cheng scooped up the big yellow dog.
I originally wanted to take the shell out of its mouth, but it didn't want to. Instead, it happily walked over to Xiaorou and threw the shell at her feet like a treasure.
"Huh? It's for me?" Xiaorou picked it up in surprise. It was a seashell bigger than her palm, somewhat like a clam.
“This is a pearl oyster,” Yang Liu said. “There might be pearls inside.”
"Oh? Really?" Xiaorou said in surprise, "Shall we go for a ride?"
Ye Cheng handed over a small knife, and Xiao Rou gently inserted it into the seam of the shell and then twisted it forcefully. The shell was pried open, revealing the shell meat inside.
Inside one side of the flesh, there were two obvious round protrusions. Xiao Rou gently squeezed them with her hand, and two large pearls, about 10 millimeters in size, came out. They were white, round, and reflected the alluring luster of jewels.
Wow! What beautiful pearls!
Ye Cheng remembered that Stephen Chow had this line in his movie:
No woman can resist jewelry, unless you're not a woman.
These two women in front of me are genuine, 100% women, and naturally they can't take their eyes off Pearl.
Actually, the two of them did have pearl jewelry, but this one was found by themselves in a seashell, and the quality was indeed quite good, which is why they cherished it so much.
"Wow! Big Yellow, you're so amazing!" Xiao Rou squatted down affectionately and kissed Big Yellow, who excitedly rubbed against Xiao Rou's leg.
Yang Liu also received one, and naturally, she gave it a sweet kiss in return.
"Ahem! Well, other people get a pearl with just one pearl, but I showed you a white dolphin and you don't have one." Ye Cheng turned his face away with a sly grin.
"Have you no shame? Pfft!"
All Ye Cheng received were two disdainful voices.
After making the joke, Ye Cheng picked up Da Huang, pointed down below, and asked softly,
"Big Yellow, are there many pearl oysters down here?"
The two women probably thought that Dahuang had gotten it by chance, but Ye Cheng knew that this guy was practically a monster.
If it can get one, it can naturally get a lot.
Da Huang nodded, and Ye Cheng understood. He looked around at the surrounding area, wrote it down in his notebook, and planned to come back to get pearls next time.
We got back to the pier quite early, not even 4 o'clock.
The usual dealers at the dock weren't there, but there wasn't anything big to catch today, just a scorpionfish and a lionfish.
The lionfish was originally meant for Wang Ke, but after Xiao Rou got the pearl, she shamelessly forgot about the lionfish.
I had originally planned to let the two beauties go back to my place to take a shower, but after being given a dirty look by them, they each got into their own cars and left.
Damn it, not a single cloud was left behind.
Ye Cheng didn't get much today, so he randomly found a shop that bought and sold his goods, earning a total of 700 yuan, which he split 50/50 with Xiao Hu.
Women really do slow down the speed at which you make money.
Back in the village, Ye Cheng fed Da Huang first, then released it back onto the mudflats before starting to tidy himself up.
Chen Zhangfu suddenly arrived that evening.
"Afu, come, sit down." Ye Cheng invited him to sit down.
"Brother, let me tell you, someone's started trying to steal our crayfish," Chen Zhangfu said nervously.
"Hmm, tell me how to rob it," Ye Cheng said calmly.
"It was someone who often sells to me who said that someone is buying at a higher price, and that I should raise my price too, saying that others are buying at 1.5 yuan. What should we do?"
They charge one dollar, while others charge one dollar and fifty cents; it's truly a case of hurting people with their own money.
I suspect it was that Boss Gao who did it.
"Do you get a lot of calls asking for price increases?" Ye Cheng pressed.
"Not many, just a few villages around here."
"That's alright. We'll continue to collect them at one yuan each. Crayfish aren't anything rare; they're found in every village. It's just a matter of spending a little money on fuel."
If it's just a few surrounding villages, then it's probably because this Boss Gao is deliberately messing with him. If they want to buy at a high price, then so be it, there's plenty of supply outside.
After discussing the crayfish, Chen Zhangfu then talked about the election.
"Brother, I contacted five companies in total, and they all promised to vote for you."
"Five families? Are you sure it's not five people?"
“Of course, let me tell you, brother, when I went to tell people that you were running for office, they were all very supportive. Each family gets several votes, and five families get at least 30 votes. You’re in luck,” Chen Zhangfu said confidently.
These words made Ye Cheng a little arrogant; it seemed that what he said that night had moved everyone.
These days, who doesn't want to get rich?
Ye Cheng was already thinking about whether he should host a banquet to thank everyone after becoming the village chief.
Ye Cheng hasn't been very lucky these past few days, so he hasn't gone out to sea. He's just been helping Ye Guowei tend to the clams at home. The clams have grown a lot and he estimates they'll be ready to sell in a few days, so Ye Guowei has been going out more often lately.
The election is just around the corner, and the atmosphere in the village has become noticeably tense these past two days. Chen Jinhai has been going from door to door campaigning for votes.
