Ye Cheng shook his head. "No rush, let's talk about it later."
Ye Cheng only has 3,300 yuan on him now, and he feels it's not worth it to invest it all in a motorcycle.
It all comes down to not having enough money.
Although I was reborn with a system, it's still a short time, and my previous foundation was too weak.
Since he couldn't buy a motorcycle, Ye Cheng decided to hitch a ride back with Li Yong, hoping to pick up some things along the way.
Ye Cheng then took Xiao Hu to the home appliance market and bought a Little Swan washing machine for 1,000 yuan.
He really disliked doing laundry and suggested leaving it to the washing machine.
Around 3 p.m., they finally waited for Li Yong's car, which took the two of them and the washing machine back.
Back in the village, Ye Cheng asked Xiao Hu to help him set up the washing machine before he could finally sit down and have a smoke. He was relieved that he didn't have to wash the clothes by hand anymore.
As a grown man, you don't need to worry about underwear or socks. Just stuff it in, twist it, and you're good to go!
Before he could even take two puffs, Xiao Hu suddenly rushed back, looking anxious. "Brother, something's happened!"
"What happened? Don't be in such a hurry. Calm down. You've been with me for so long, how come you can't learn even a little bit of my composure?" Ye Cheng was not in a hurry at all, and instead teased Xiao Hu.
Xiao Hu usually doesn't care, but today he slapped his thigh and said anxiously, "Brother, what time is it? How can you still be in the mood to joke? The village chief has closed the beach and said we can't go to the beach anymore."
"Close the beach? Has he gone mad? Isn't he afraid the villagers will curse him?"
Ye Cheng looked surprised. Although he knew it was aimed at him, he was sure that if the beach were really closed, all the villagers would jump up in protest.
They don't care when their interests aren't involved, but once their own interests are at stake, these villagers are not to be trifled with.
"It's not all of them, just our area is sealed off," Xiao Hu said anxiously.
"What do you mean? Why are you only sealing off our area?"
"I don't know either. I was just about to go to the beach when I saw a group of people there setting up a line, saying that we couldn't go to that area anymore."
Ye Cheng frowned, stood up, and thought, "This is so targeted, they're planning to take a hard line, aren't they?"
"Grab your weapons and come with me to take a look," Ye Cheng said with a stern face.
If they really bully him like this, Ye Cheng is not someone to be trifled with. I wouldn't dare say he'll crack his skull open, but a fight is a must, otherwise he won't be able to hold his head up in the village anymore.
The two men, each carrying a shovel, strode aggressively toward the beach. Sure enough, there were quite a few people on the beach, including the village chief and Duan Yong, who were pointing and gesturing.
Upon seeing the two approaching, Duan Yong immediately pulled the village chief aside. Chen Jinhai turned his head and saw the shovels in their hands. He sneered and stepped forward.
Two little brats, thinking they're scared of their shovels, thinking I, Chen Jinhai, am easily frightened?
He'd seen people come with shovels or knives, but anyone who dared to lay a hand on him was just bluffing.
"Second brother..." Chen Jinhai said slowly, before he could finish his sentence.
Ye Cheng suddenly accelerated, grabbed Chen Jinhai with his right hand, tripped him, and threw him to the ground.
Poor Chen Jinhai hadn't even reacted before a gleaming shovel was held right in his face.
"Second brother, second brother, don't be impulsive, let's talk this out." Chen Jinhai was so frightened that he quickly begged for mercy.
When Duan Yong and his group saw that a fight had broken out, they grabbed their things and tried to come up, but Xiao Hu stopped them with a roar, and the two sides started cursing at each other.
If Ye Cheng hadn't had the village chief under his control, and they hadn't been so hesitant to act, they probably would have already started fighting.
"Uncle, if they come over, my hands might start shaking with fear, and if I accidentally drop it, you can't blame me." Ye Cheng looked at Chen Jinhai's calm expression and the shovel in his hand trembled slightly.
Chen Jinhai had been a dominant figure in the village for decades, but he had never encountered a ruthless person like Ye Cheng.
Ye Cheng's eyes were utterly cold. He was certain that if Duan Yong and his men rushed up, he would definitely make a move, and he would be the one to suffer the consequences.
"Don't come any closer! I just fell down, and the second brother is helping me up," Chen Jinhai shouted.
He spoke, and Duan Yong and the others retreated, grumbling as they went.
Ye Cheng's lips curled up slightly; this old guy was quite clever.
He grabbed Chen Jinhai and helped him up, then patted the dirt off him and said loudly, "Uncle, you're so old, you have to be careful. If it weren't for me, you would have broken your arms and legs from that fall."
"Uncle, don't you think so?" Ye Cheng said, smiling at Chen Jinhai.
Chen Jinhai's lips twitched. Everyone says I'm a ruthless village chief, but you're even more ruthless than me.
So many people saw me fall, and now you want me to admit I fell?
But after seeing the weapon in Ye Cheng's hand, Chen Jinhai could only lower his head. When did this village thug become so fierce? If I had told you you were this fierce, I wouldn't have bothered to mess with you.
"Ah, yes, second brother, thanks to you, otherwise I would have broken my old bones from that fall. I'm fine now, you can let Duan Yong and the others stay with me." Chen Jinhai said, and started to walk back.
Ye Cheng wasn't about to give up. He grabbed him and said calmly, "Don't rush, Uncle. I heard you're going to close the beaches here. How are we going to go beachcombing then?"
"Ah, um, second brother, this isn't my idea to seal it off, it's the village committee's decision," Chen Jinhai quickly explained.
"It's the village committee again. Why are they so concerned about me? It makes me feel a little embarrassed."
Seeing Ye Cheng's ambiguous expression, Chen Jinhai gave a wry smile. "Second brother, don't overthink it. Your uncle is concerned about you. Didn't you encounter a huge wave last night and almost get swept away?"
"Who said that?" Ye Cheng asked, frowning. Only he, Xiao Hu, and Widow Zhang should know what happened last night. This morning, Li the Cripple only knew that he had a wound on his forehead, but did not know how he got it.
“Oh, your Aunt Zhang said that,” Chen Jinhai said.
The "Aunt Zhang" that Chen Jinhai mentioned was actually Widow Zhang; no one would openly call someone a widow.
Ye Cheng narrowed his eyes slightly; it was indeed what Widow Zhang had said.
Seeing that Ye Cheng didn't speak, Chen Jinhai continued, "Second brother, look, you, a young man, almost got swept away. If a child were to go, wouldn't it be even more dangerous? That's why I said we have to temporarily close off the area due to the bad weather these days."
Ye Cheng sneered twice, "You're not blocking the beach, you're blocking my way to survive."
As he spoke, Ye Cheng tightened his grip, squeezing Chen Jinhai's old bones until they ached.
