"Oh, Wu Bin, right? Okay, you can continue, I have something to do here." Wang Ke gave a perfunctory reply and prepared to leave.
But how could Wu Bin let such a good opportunity slip by? He took half a step and tentatively asked,
"Mr. Wang, I saw you seeing a guest off at the door just now. Do you know that person?"
Wang Ke stopped and looked at him in confusion, wondering what he meant.
"Oh, Mr. Wang, this person looks familiar. I didn't expect you to know him." Wu Bin didn't say that he was his classmate because he couldn't tell whether Wang Ke was just being polite or if they really knew each other.
"Oh, that's right, he's a stinky fishmonger. You might have bought fish from him before."
After saying that, Wang Ke left satisfied. Yes, Ye Cheng is a stinking fishmonger. Damn it, you got to call my uncle a treacherous bastard.
Wu Bin was relieved to hear this. Boss Wang had said that he was a stinky fishmonger, so Ye Cheng must have delivered fish here before.
Ye Cheng was disgusted by the class reunion that night. When he got back, he didn't even feel like eating. He couldn't understand why a normal class reunion had to be made so mercenary.
...
Ye Cheng had originally planned to continue going out to sea in the next few days, but the weather suddenly turned gloomy and there were strong winds, making it too risky to go out to sea. In addition, his luck was a bit low, so Ye Cheng could only stay in the village.
Ye Guowei has been squatting on the mudflats every day for the past two days, watching the clams, afraid that the strong winds will blow them away. Ye Cheng also stayed there for two days.
That morning, Ye Cheng took Xiao Hu to the mudflats as usual. As soon as they arrived, they saw Ye Guowei standing on the sea under the gloomy sky.
When Ye Cheng ran over, he saw that the beach was in a mess, and the barrier nets were sparsely stretched out.
Ye Cheng's face darkened. "Brother? What happened? Did someone sabotage this?"
Ye Guowei shook his head. "It doesn't look like it. Take a closer look. The barrier net seems to have been pulled down or stepped on by something. There are still some of these on the net."
Ye Cheng took it from his older brother and looked at it. Damn, it was a crab leg.
Looking down at the ground, there were many clams that had been bitten open.
"Big brother, are you saying that a crab flipped over, ate a clam, and then ran away?" Ye Cheng asked tentatively.
When did crabs become so smart?
"It should be. Look at this road, it stretches all the way into the sea."
The two looked over and, sure enough, there were several distinct sets of footprints on the mudflats, extending all the way into the sea.
"Brother, there seem to be quite a few, maybe several hundred," Xiao Hu estimated.
"Damn, hundreds of them are coming up to steal clams. We're going to lose a lot of money!" Ye Cheng shouted.
Ye Guowei pointed to the line of footprints.
"Look for yourself, they're all dead clams."
"Brother, what should we do? Should we get some cement to block them?" Ye Cheng said.
Before Ye Guowei could speak, Xiao Hu interrupted, "Brother, are you stupid? Crabs can climb cement."
Ye Cheng slapped his forehead, realizing he was a bit dumbfounded. Crabs can climb cement with their legs, though not perfectly smoothly, but definitely no problem.
If you really want to block it, you can only use something smooth like glass.
However, installing glass on mudflats is unprecedented and would easily cause it to break.
“Glass definitely won’t work. I’ve never encountered this situation before, and I don’t know what to do. I just stood here watching to see what to do,” Ye Guowei said, looking a bit worried.
This was his first time raising clams, and he knew it would be difficult, but he managed to minimize the losses by being diligent.
He was now at a loss as to what to do with the crab thief.
Ye Cheng looked at Xiao Hu,
What about you? What are your thoughts? Or have you heard about it?
Xiao Hu shook his head like a rattle-drum, "Brother, I've never raised these things before, how would I know? If we can't stop them, we'll just catch them and sell them for money."
Hearing Xiao Hu's explanation, Ye Cheng suddenly understood and slapped his thigh.
"Yeah, bro, just kill them all."
Ye Guowei's mouth dropped open. "How do we catch them? Are we going to stake out here all night?"
"Bro, why bother guarding? Who knows when they'll come? Offense is the best defense. I'll just go down into the sea and do it. I can catch them all by hand." Ye Cheng hadn't been diving in a long time and was getting a little restless.
"You're going diving? Are you sure you can do it?" Ye Guowei asked, a little worried.
"Brother Guowei, don't worry, my brother is really good at it. You go over there and look at the clams, I'll go with my brother to catch crabs."
"Yeah, bro, you can go over there, we can handle it."
Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu sent Ye Guowei away, and then without needing to bring any special tools, Ye Cheng put on gloves and a net and went into the water.
As soon as he entered the water, Ye Cheng plunged to the seabed. Crabs sink to the bottom, so these bandits shouldn't have gone too far.
Sure enough, Ye Cheng swam for only a few minutes before he saw a large "garbage dump" less than ten meters deep on the seabed.
It's actually just a mound of dirt with some cables and plastic bags tied to it. It must have been washed ashore and hung there. It looks dirty.
But this mountain of garbage was covered with all sorts of crabs.
Damn, it looks just like a crab tree. So many crabs, no wonder my brother suffered such a huge loss of clams.
Ye Cheng first came up to take a breath. Actually, he didn't have to, but he just wanted to come up and check on Ye Guowei, afraid that Ye Guowei would find out that he had been underwater for too long.
As soon as I came up, I saw Xiaohu standing leisurely on the shore. "Brother, what are you doing up here? Hurry up and get down here. The sooner we finish this, the sooner we'll be done."
"Damn it! Why aren't you coming down?"
"I'm not going to stay underwater that long. You should do more, bro."
Okay, in a short period of time, they've become increasingly cunning.
Fortunately, his older brother wasn't there, so Ye Cheng dove down and approached the garbage mountain.
The crabs on the mountain sensed something approaching and shifted their positions, but they seemed to have chosen this mountain, and no matter how they moved, they remained on the mountain, which did not affect Ye Cheng's ability to catch them at all.
Ye Cheng reached out and grabbed a swimming crab. The little guy leaped from the mountain into the sea and swam around with its eight legs, trying to escape.
However, its claws were not suitable for swimming, and Ye Cheng easily caught it in his hand.
To ensure efficiency, Ye Cheng didn't even use pliers, but used his hands directly, wearing thick rubber gloves, so he wasn't afraid of the pliers at all.
This swimming crab is quite big; it seems it's been eating quite a few of the older brother's clams. Now it's getting its comeuppance.
Ye Cheng tossed the swimming crab into his pocket, then without moving, reached directly into the mountain of garbage and picked it up.
This is faster than digging for crabs in the seabed mud. You have to figure out where the crabs are, but you don't need to do that. They just jump around on mountains of garbage.
Ye Cheng simply reaches out his hand, and they will jump into the seawater, which he can then scoop up.
