Chapter 153 Setting Up a Fish Traps on the Seabed

After the manta ray left, Ye Cheng came up to catch his breath before diving back down.

Turning past the reef, the other side was covered with abalone, densely packed together.

Ye Cheng held a small shovel in his hand, gently scooped up the abalone meat, and easily removed the abalone.

Having tools makes all the difference. Ye Cheng grabbed the abalone with his left hand and used a shovel with his right, and it took him almost twenty minutes to finish. There was no other way; after all, it wasn't on land, and adjusting the position in the water was more troublesome.

To avoid arousing too much suspicion, he surfaced again, pretending to take a breath, but thankfully no one could see him.

Looking into the net, there were about forty or fifty abalones. This was quite a bumper harvest of abalone.

Ye Cheng swam a little further along the reef, catching some blue crabs and swimming crabs on the seabed, and also found two conch shells.

Just as he was about to go back, he glanced at the ocean and saw a trench, a trench on the seabed.

Generally speaking, there are a lot of things in the trench. Ye Cheng swam over to take a look. It wasn't very deep, less than a meter deep. There was a lot of seaweed in it, and it was hard to see what was inside.

Ye Cheng thought for a moment whether he should go down and take a look, but when he saw the dense seaweed, he gave up the idea.

If something dangerous were to be found inside, that would be a real problem; even a jellyfish couldn't handle it.

However, it would be a waste not to make use of such a trench.

Ye Cheng quickly came up with an idea, pushed off with his legs, and swam backward.

When he went up, Chen Jinshui was busy catching fish and didn't have time to pay attention to him, so Xiao Hu came down and helped lift the net up.

He didn't pay attention to how much was inside, but when he lifted it, it was surprisingly heavy. Looking down, he was startled.

"Damn, bro, so many abalone!"

"Okay, Little Tiger, go and get our trap."

"Huh? A cage? We're putting it here?" Xiao Hu said as he carried the things upstairs. "This place doesn't look very good."

"Put it on the seabed. I saw a trench on the seabed. It looks like there's a lot of stuff there. Go get it and I'll put it in. Then pick it up in a couple of days and take a look."

Hearing Ye Cheng say that, Xiao Hu nodded, "Okay, then wait for me, I'll go get it."

Just then, Chen Jinshui suddenly shouted happily, "I caught a fish! I caught a fish! Half a fish! Hahaha!"

Ye Cheng looked up and saw that this guy had caught a half-fish that was more than ten centimeters long, and he was so happy.

Ye Cheng shook his head speechlessly. The simple-minded fisherman seemed to be happier living like this, able to be happy all day with just two fish.

"Little Tiger, Little Tiger, look, I caught a fish."

"Don't call Xiaohu anymore, I sent him back to get his things," Ye Cheng called from below.

"Second brother, look, look, isn't it big? Hahahaha."

Ye Cheng nodded. "As long as you're happy."

Taking this opportunity, Ye Cheng checked the contents of the water tank. There was already quite a lot. Once Xiao Hu came over and he finished setting the cage, he could go back.

A sea breeze blew by, and Ye Cheng shivered, quickly returning to the water.

After waiting for a while, Xiao Hu finally arrived. This guy was a bit exhausted after making two trips in the morning.

"Brother, you're not going to make me go back to get something else, are you?" Little Tiger asked breathlessly as he threw over five cages.

"You can't even run a few steps, you're too weak. You need to control yourself tonight."

"Damn! No, bro, what did you say?!" Even though they were both men, Xiao Hu blushed immediately when he was told that so directly.

He wanted to argue, but it was too late; Ye Cheng had already taken the fish trap into the water.

Even though the cages were already set up, it was still quite difficult for Ye Cheng to carry five of them.

Fortunately, it wasn't too far, and Ye Cheng could slowly carry it across underwater.

Once they arrived at the location, Ye Cheng opened the fish traps, stretched them out, and lined them up in a row. The five fish traps stretched for quite a distance, and it would take half a day for the swimmers to swim in them.

Ye Cheng kept the rope at the other end of the fish trap in his hand, and then kicked the fish trap into the trench.

The fish trap wobbled and rolled down into the water, but there was too much seaweed underneath, and since the fish trap was empty, it couldn't be pushed down at all.

Left with no other choice, Ye Cheng could only search for stones everywhere. Damn it, there was plenty of mud and sand on the seabed, but not many stones, especially those he could move.

We could only go back to the reef and move a few stones over.

This back-and-forth process wasted a lot of time; only after the stones were thrown down did the trap become compacted.

Damn, I'm actually feeling a bit tired.

Ye Cheng tied the rope in his hand to a large rock so it would be easier to find next time.

After finishing all that, Ye Cheng swam straight back.

As soon as he appeared, he said to Xiao Hu, "Quickly bring me my clothes, I'm a little cold."

Ye Chengzhen felt a bit cold, probably because he was tired yesterday and his body was a little weak.

Xiao Hu hurriedly went over and took Ye Cheng's clothes. Since no one was around, Ye Cheng took off his wet underwear, let it air dry, and then put on his clothes. Only then did he feel a little warmer.

"Xiao Hu, put the lid on the water tank. We should head back soon."

Chen Jinshui caught two fish this morning, had his fill, and went back with them.

The three of them carried the things back.

"Uncle, come over tonight, I'll make you some grilled fish to try. I'll go sell my stuff this afternoon."

"Okay, it's settled then. I'll bring some soil over to burn."

After agreeing to have dinner, Ye Cheng ate a simple lunch, then asked Xiao Hu to find a barbecue grill, while he rode his motorcycle into town to sell goods to Boss Qian.

Seafood, the fresher the better.

When he arrived at Boss Qian's place, the lunch service had just ended. Hearing that Ye Cheng had delivered something, the guy rushed over excitedly.

"Xiao Ye, you're finally here! I'm almost out of stock. What good stuff did you get me today?"

"It's mainly abalone, and a few other things too. Take a look for yourself."

Since they were all acquaintances, Ye Cheng didn't bother with formalities and simply opened the water tank for President Hu to see.

"Wow, so many! You've opened a farm?"

“Farmed abalone can’t be this fresh. Look at the shell, there’s even seaweed on it.” Ye Cheng picked up an abalone with a layer of green seaweed on it. “And look at the size of this one. Who farmed such a big one?”

"That's right, that's right, they're in luck now, a wild torrential rain, hahaha."

"Come on, let me calculate it for you separately, the prices are different for different sizes."

Mr. Qian skillfully found several baskets and began to sort through them, separating them into large, medium, and small sizes.

"Here, these are large four-headed abalones, I'll charge you 500 each, there are 12 in total, that's 6000 yuan."

"These are six-headed abalone, 150 yuan each, 18 in total, 2700 yuan."

"These small ones with 8 heads each are 40 each, and there are 21 in total, so that's 840 yuan."

"Okay?"

President Qian looked at Ye Cheng.
