"If I had known there were so many hermit crabs, I would have just come and catch them next time." Ye Cheng picked up the hermit crabs speechlessly.
They visited five different spots, but found nothing but hermit crabs, which left Ye Cheng completely exasperated.
"Brother, is it gone?" Xiao Hu muttered.
"How is that possible? Could it be that the one we saw when we came up was the last one? Our luck is just too incredible."
As Ye Cheng spoke, he parted the leaves to walk over, but stopped as soon as he did.
"Brother, what's wrong?" Xiao Hu was still waiting behind Ye Cheng to go over.
"We have it." Ye Cheng said in a hoarse voice, suppressing his excitement.
Little Tiger quickly peeked out and saw a blue coconut crab crouching under the wooden stick in front of him, circling around, wondering how to get up.
This coconut crab is enormous, measuring about 30 to 40 centimeters long; it's definitely a big one.
Ye Cheng gestured behind him, and the two tiptoed over. The coconut crab seemed to sense something, circled around and tried to run away, but Ye Cheng rushed over and pinned it to the ground.
"Done!" Ye Cheng cheered, lifting the coconut crab with both hands. "It's heavy, Little Tiger, hahahaha."
"Brother, let me hug you." Xiao Hu hurriedly took the baby from Ye Cheng's arms, weighed it in his hand, and said, "It weighs about seven or eight pounds."
"Yes, we've struck it rich this time, let's keep going." Ye Cheng was in high spirits and led Xiao Hu to continue searching.
After using a dozen or so baits, the two caught dozens more hermit crabs, but only found two coconut crabs, making a total of three coconut crabs.
Actually, Ye Cheng thought that if he waited a little longer, there might be another chance, but he had promised Wang Defa, so he could only wait until next time.
The two packed their things and walked back along the beach. When they reached the seaside, they saw Wang Defa already waiting there in the distance.
The two quickened their pace and walked over. "Second Uncle, why are you here so early?"
Ye Cheng checked the time; there were still ten minutes left. And judging from the looks of it, Wang Defa had been there for a while, sitting on the deck smoking.
Wang Defa said listlessly, "I didn't have anything, so I came early to pick you up. How were you all today?"
"Not bad, managed to get some goods," Ye Cheng said casually.
"Really? Let me see what's inside." Wang Defa helped lift the water tank up and opened it for a look.
"Dog sharks, moray eels, and sea cucumbers, so many!" Wang Defa was incredibly envious.
"Yeah, we dug out a puddle, just lucky," Ye Cheng replied.
"This one?" Wang Defa opened another water tank and was immediately dumbfounded.
"What is this? A coconut crab?" Wang De asked spontaneously, then looked up at Ye Cheng. "Second brother, no wonder everyone says you've won the favor of the Sea Dragon King. It's no exaggeration."
I'd only seen coconut crabs once before; I never imagined they'd be on this island.
Ye Cheng coughed softly, "Second Uncle, strictly speaking, coconut crabs are not marine creatures and have nothing to do with the Dragon King of the Sea."
Coconut crabs are quite unique creatures. Their life cycle consists of three stages: during their larval stage, they live in the ocean; as they grow up, they go to islands to act as terrestrial cleaners; and when it's time to reproduce, they return to the sea to lay their eggs.
And it spends the longest time on land, and... it will drown.
Therefore, it is more accurate to say that it is a terrestrial creature.
Wang Defa slapped his thigh suddenly, "Hey, second brother, who cares if it's some kind of marine creature or not, as long as it's from the seaside, the most important thing is that it can be sold for money."
"This stuff must cost several hundred yuan per kilogram, right?"
Ye Cheng shook his head. "I don't know either. I've never sold this stuff before. Let's see when we get ashore."
"Second Uncle, hurry up and let's go. We can still make it back in time for dinner," Xiao Hu urged.
"All you do is eat, eat, eat. If you were half as capable as the second son, I wouldn't be working so hard."
“You’re my second uncle, not my father. Even if I’m capable, you won’t get anything out of it.”
"Get lost, kid. You've got meat to eat, but can't your second uncle have some soup too?"
While arguing with his nephew, Wang Defa started the fishing boat and sputtered back.
It's quick to get back, only a few tens of minutes. We can get back from the dock just in time for dinner.
Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu sat at the bow of the boat, chatting idly.
Suddenly, Ye Cheng felt the ship slow down. He turned to look at Wang Defa, only to see Wang Defa looking at him with a lewd smile.
"Damn it, Second Uncle, what are you trying to do? I'm a man." Ye Cheng was speechless.
"Second Uncle, why did the boat stop?" Xiao Hu asked Wang Defa.
Wang Defa stopped the boat, walked up to Ye Cheng with a smile, and said, "Second brother, I want to talk to you about something."
"What do you want? You don't have any money?" Ye Cheng looked at the old man warily, clearly not up to any good.
"It's not about borrowing money, Cheng. What are you saying? Is your second uncle that kind of person?"
"Then what are you going to do? You look so cunning."
"Yeah, Second Uncle, just tell me what you're going to do. You look exactly like a villain in a movie," Xiao Hu complained.
"This kid is always undermining his second uncle." Wang Desheng rolled his eyes at Xiao Hu and continued looking at Ye Cheng.
"Second brother, you've already gained the favor of the Dragon King of the Sea, can you help your second uncle?"
"I've paid enough money, Uncle. You said the customer is God, but it feels like you're trying to rob a shipwreck right now."
"It's not that serious. Here's what you do: help your second uncle cast three nets, no, just two nets, two nets."
Wang Desheng gestured the number two with his hand.
Ye Cheng looked at Wang Desheng and thought, "He really is a fool."
"Second Uncle, I don't know how to cast a net, so don't bother me. Go back and eat, the dock will be closed soon."
You're casting a net to catch fish, right? The problem is, Ye Cheng really doesn't know how. Casting a net is simple in some ways, but difficult in others.
It's not like those tiny nets the size of a handkerchief that you can just throw in. The ones on the boat are big nets; you have to use your skill. In no time, you can just throw a whole clump of nets into the water.
“Yeah, Second Uncle, my brother doesn’t know how. You’re just kidding,” Xiao Hu said.
Seeing the two of them like this, Wang Defa scratched his head. He wanted to try his luck with Ye Cheng to see if it was true.
Today was a terrible day for me at sea; I got nothing. Maybe I can turn things around with Ye Cheng's help.
But Ye Chengzhen really didn't know how, which left him dumbfounded.
"Second Uncle, how about I just throw you down here and call the Dragon King of the Sea to ask him to find you some fish? See if that works?" Seeing Wang Desheng's worried look, Ye Cheng started teasing him.
It was meant as a joke, but unexpectedly, Wang Defa slapped his thigh and exclaimed loudly...
"Alright! Just throw it away, the rest is up to the Dragon King."
