Ye Cheng looked at it and realized that digging was probably out of the question, so he could only try a different method.
He took out the fishing rod behind him, attached a system bait to it, and then pulled the rod himself while Xiao Hu pushed the hook into the Earth Dragon Cave.
"Brother Cheng, are you sure you can manage?" Afu was covered in black mud and was exhausted.
"Whether it works or not is just a matter of a tremor. You guys go up first, don't get swept away by the sea."
To be honest, he wasn't sure if the earth dragon would take the bait.
The system's bait is for him to use for fishing. This earth dragon should work, right? He can even catch his own sea eel.
However, Ye Cheng waited for almost 5 minutes, but there was still no movement.
Just as the tide was about to come in, Ye Cheng was about to give up when he felt the fishing rod in his hand suddenly move, and something bit the hook.
He instinctively pulled it out, and half of an earthen dragon was pulled out; he actually managed to fish it up.
"Brother Cheng, what a huge earth dragon!" Afu exclaimed in astonishment.
Xiao Hu was similarly stunned, his eyes wide with disbelief. "Brother, it's a big shipment!"
Ye Cheng didn't expect it to be such a big one. Although he couldn't see its tail, judging from its exposed body, it was very wide and definitely not short.
Ye Cheng hadn't expected it to be such a big one. He excitedly pulled it up, thinking it would be an easy task, but the earth dragon was surprisingly strong, causing him to slip and fall to the ground.
"grass!"
Ye Cheng lay on the ground and pulled his face out of the mud.
Damn it, I slipped and fell flat on my face.
Fortunately, I didn't let go of the fishing rod; the other end was still firmly hooked onto the mudskipper.
Xiao Hu rushed over, helped Ye Cheng up, then picked up the fishing rod, and the two of them pulled together, slowly bringing the earth dragon up.
Just then, a huge wave crashed over us.
The water instantly submerged the earth dragon cave, and the earth dragon, having regained its strength, tried to burrow back into the cave.
"Afu, go up and pull him out," Ye Cheng shouted.
Afu rushed over through the seawater, grabbed the earthen dragon with both hands, and pulled hard, but he couldn't pull it out—it was too long.
With no other option, Afu had to take a few steps back before he could pull it out of the hole.
A two-meter-long object, as soon as it came out, curled up and tried to wrap itself around Afu.
Luckily, Afu dodged quickly, flung it to the ground with both hands, and then Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu pulled it towards the shore to reel in the line.
This earthen dragon was over two meters long and kept twisting its body on the ground. If it weren't for the fishhook holding it, it would be very difficult to catch it by hand.
Pulling it closer, Xiao Hu and A Fu worked together to throw it into the water tank, immediately creating a commotion inside.
"Brother, the tide is coming in, let's go!"
No sooner had Xiao Hu finished speaking than a huge wave crashed in, nearly sweeping the water tank back into the sea.
The three of them quickly grabbed the water tank and then headed back the way they came.
The tide rose quickly, and by the time the three of them reached the bend, they had basically swum across. Luckily, the water tank had a lid, otherwise the mud dragons might have jumped out.
After a difficult swim, they reached the water tank, where Ah Long was already waiting anxiously. Upon seeing the three of them approach, he quickly waded over and helped pull the tank across.
The four of them were basically soaked. They crawled out of the seawater and sat down on the shore to rest.
After sitting for a while, Ye Cheng looked at Ah Long and asked,
How many mudskippers have you caught?
"Well, Brother Cheng, I've almost filled a bucket." Ah Long showed the bucket to Ye Cheng.
It really is true, a whole bucket full of mudskippers, they probably haven't stopped for a long time.
The sea level rose higher and higher, and the sea breeze made them feel a little chilly.
"Brother Cheng, why don't we go back? It's chilly." Afu hugged his arms tightly; the wet clothes and the wind were indeed making it hard to stand.
Ye Cheng looked at the sea. The wind had subsided, and the storm had passed. Although the seawater was still surging up, it was getting lower each time.
"The tide is going out soon. Do you have any fishing nets? Even a torn one will do," Ye Cheng suddenly said.
"Hey bro, what are you doing?"
"Yeah, Brother Cheng, planning to net a bunch of fish?"
Ye Cheng pointed to the mudskippers jumping on the tide and said, "Why not take advantage of these mudskippers? Let's get a net and bring them all in; we can sell more."
Since Ye Cheng said he wanted to catch mudskippers, the group split up to look for them.
Fishing nets are hard to find, and there aren't many houses around. In the end, Xiao Hu found one in the grass, and it even had several big holes in it.
So what if it's broken? Ye Cheng didn't care. He simply tied up those areas and then threaded a few wooden sticks through them.
As the tide began to recede, Ye Cheng led the group into the sea and walked towards the shore.
After they had gone far enough, they stuck the sticks into the mudflats, and the entire fishing net was erected, effectively blocking the mudskippers' path back into the sea.
As the tide recedes, schools of mudskippers jump onto the net. Although they can still hop a few times, they can't jump over the net at all, and they just accumulate more and more on it.
Seeing that the time was right, Ye Cheng quickly led the group over and began collecting mudskippers.
None of the four of them brought a net, so they had to catch them by hand. Even though the mudskippers had gathered around the net, it was still hard to say what would happen.
It took us about half an hour to get the mudskippers into the bucket. We were exhausted and our backs ached.
This time I made even more than Ah Long did, a total of one and a half buckets.
As the sea breeze gradually receded, the mudflats, freshly washed by the sea, were revealed.
The four of them began a leisurely beachcombing trip along the mudflats, as there are usually some goods to be found when the tide goes out.
"Brother Cheng, here's a white pomfret." Afu scooped a fish out of a small puddle.
"Brother Cheng, look here, there are also whelks and sand clams."
The two Chen brothers picked up whatever they saw, but to be honest, he wasn't really interested in these odds and ends.
After wandering around, I picked up a small bucket of various seafood, but nothing else.
Seeing that there was nothing left, Ye Cheng said goodbye and prepared to go back.
"Brother Cheng, wait for me, I need to use the restroom." Just as he was about to leave, Ah Long started needing to relieve himself.
It wouldn't have mattered if he hadn't mentioned it, but once he did, Ye Cheng himself became a little interested.
They simply dragged Xiaohu to the bank and found a stinky ditch to relieve themselves.
The two were firing away when suddenly something crawled out from the opposite ridge—a small red creature.
Xiao Hu said with a look of disgust, "It's that disgusting stuff again."
After saying that, Xiao Hu adjusted the angle, intending to give it a good whack.
Just then, Ye Cheng suddenly shouted, "Stop! Don't touch it!"
The little tiger almost shrank back at that shout.
