It may be a bit presumptuous of me to say this, but being stared at so directly like that is definitely not a pleasant experience.
"Alright, alright, you talk too much. Get to work and set up the trap."
To be honest, this 40 luck point today is genuine.
Eight traps have been set, but not a single crab or shrimp has been seen, only small sea snails and the like.
Xiao Hu was frustrated. He put down the hook in his hand and looked at Ye Cheng, "Brother, why don't you do it? I'm having bad luck today."
Ye Cheng leisurely sat on the deck with a small stool. When he heard that Xiao Hu wanted to change people, he decisively shook his head and refused.
I told him a long time ago that we were out of stock today, but he didn't believe me and insisted on grabbing it.
Let him go then. It's so much easier for me to work on the deck. I've already tried eight traps, but haven't managed to pick out a single thing.
When the tenth fish trap came up, Little Tiger's eyes finally lit up, and he picked out a black sea cucumber from it.
"Brother, look, there are sea cucumbers."
Ye Cheng extended his middle finger and said disdainfully, "You call this a sea cucumber? It's not even as thick as my middle finger."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Hu's expression froze, and he said somewhat awkwardly, "So what? It's still sea cucumber, it means our luck is improving."
My luck has indeed improved somewhat.
When Duan Chunsheng pulled up the trap, he caught several blue flower crabs, which was already the most profitable catch from the trap that day.
Duan Chunsheng sighed as he looked at the meager harvest of only three baskets and then glanced at Ye Cheng.
"Did you forget the almanac for today? Something feels off, there's way too little of it."
Ye Cheng smiled upon hearing this, "Uncle, if the almanac is useful, then everyone will be rich. Let's also take a look at fishing lines."
The fishing rig didn't yield good results either, with a 20% hook-up rate. I caught a total of 5 sea bream, 8 sea bass, and the rest were worthless catches.
Finally, the three placed their hopes on the two drift nets, and the drift nets did live up to expectations, bringing up a tiger grouper, weighing a little over a pound, which could be considered the highest-grade catch of the day.
Having failed to acquire anything, the three of them were listless and didn't even want to set the trap anymore.
To boost morale, Ye Cheng pointed to the island over there and said, "How about we go over there to rest for a while, get some seafood for lunch, and then go back?"
Xiao Hu immediately perked up when he heard this. His daily commute was indeed a bit boring. Although a picnic wasn't as fun as playing video games, it was still fun!
Duan Chunsheng remained noncommittal; as an old man, he truly didn't care.
Since both of them wanted to go, the three of them drove towards the island.
After mooring the boat, the three of them took some equipment to the beach, found a flat rock, and started their picnic.
Picnics are all about convenience. Cooking is too much trouble, so grilling on a hot plate is the most convenient option.
We didn't catch much today. We picked out the few extremely thin sea cucumbers, caught two blue crabs, and killed the sea bass because we were worried it wouldn't be enough.
Duan Chunsheng started a fire, and Xiao Hu went to the beach and got some clams and other things, filling a large plate.
The sun wasn't too strong or hot today, so the three of us sat there having a barbecue, enjoying the cozy atmosphere.
Duan Chunsheng slowly ate a crab leg, sighing repeatedly, "Ah, when I retire, I want to live this kind of life, so comfortable."
Xiao Hu chuckled upon hearing this and looked at Duan Chunsheng, saying, "Uncle, you're just saying that. I don't believe someone as worried as you would be willing to retire."
Duan Chunsheng's expression froze. He turned to look at Xiao Hu and said irritably, "You always have to tell the truth. Can't you let me have a moment of imagination?"
Ye Cheng shook his head and then sighed, "You guys should just be happy. Life is already pretty good now. In a few years, I'll crush you."
Duan Chunsheng was taken aback for a moment upon hearing this, "What is 'roll'? What does 'roll to death' mean?"
Before Ye Cheng could reply, Xiao Hu curled his lip and said nonchalantly, "Uncle, don't mind him. My brother just likes to say weird words, they're basically useless."
Ye Chenggang wanted to refute this, but then he thought about it and realized it made sense; it really was meaningless.
These are all words coined by unfortunate people forced into this situation by capitalism.
"Put-put-put—"
Just as we were enjoying our meal, the roar of machinery came from the sea.
The three looked up and saw a fishing boat coming into view, heading towards the main shipping lane.
Little Tiger smacked his lips and asked curiously, "Why are there boats again?"
"Is it normal to have a boat? This sea isn't yours." Ye Cheng retorted habitually, then lowered his head and began picking out sea snails to eat.
Xiao Hu didn't care about being teased. He just pointed to the passing boat and said, "Brother, look at them. They're probably not as lucky as us. They only have a basket on their deck, and it's completely clean."
"Oh," Ye Cheng replied casually. The conch was a bit overcooked today and too tough to chew.
"Hello--"
A loud and unpleasant sound entered Ye Cheng's ears, startling him so much that he quickly covered his ears.
Looking up, I saw that silly Little Tiger was making a microphone out of his hand and shouting at the other boat.
Duan Chunsheng frowned and looked at Xiao Hu, saying, "Don't shout so loudly, it sounds awful."
"Hahaha, Uncle, it feels so good to call out like that!" Xiao Hu shouted.
On the other side, the ship suddenly accelerated, leaving a white trail on the sea before disappearing into the horizon.
Ye Cheng chuckled and looked at Xiao Hu, saying, "See? You scared them all away."
Duan Chunsheng smiled slightly upon hearing this, "Yes, yes, with your voice, even people who were about to save someone were scared away by you."
We were originally going to save someone?
A strange look flashed across Ye Cheng's face; something felt off.
Just then, Xiao Hu suddenly plopped down next to Ye Cheng and flicked Ye Cheng's ear.
"ah!!!!"
Holy crap!!!
The demonic sound penetrates my brain!
Ye Cheng felt like his head was about to explode. Without hesitation, he pressed Xiao Hu to the ground and bent his head.
An eye for an eye!
"Ah!!! Ah!!! Ah!!!"
Xiao Hu's face instantly contorted with pain as he cried out for forgiveness, "Brother, I was wrong, I was wrong!"
Seeing that the kid had finally given in, Ye Cheng got up and clapped his hands triumphantly.
"That's fair now, one time for each person."
Duan Chunsheng sat to the side and shook his head slightly. Young people are just full of energy.
The picnic lunch wasn't enough, so the three of them got two more packets of instant noodles before leisurely heading back.
As soon as Ye Cheng turned back to the dock, Old He ran over, looking at him eagerly, "So, any big cargo?"
Ye Cheng shook his head and gave a dry laugh. "No, I just had bad luck today. It's just a little something. You can give me whatever you think is appropriate."
Old He was a little skeptical, but after boarding the ship and taking a look, it really was true.
