Chapter 4: Harvesting Two Buckets of Flower King

Actually, beachcombing is both difficult and easy. Luck is the most important factor, followed by finding traces of seafood.

The holes in the beach, the footprints left behind after crawling over them—these are all traces left by marine life.

Ye Cheng found a hole, squatted down, took out the shovel given to him by the system, and began to smoothly cut along the opening of the hole.

A layer of surface soil was scraped away, revealing the fine sand underneath. The originally small hole also became a little bigger, and an air bubble emerged from the hole and popped with a "pop".

Upon hearing that there was something to sell downstairs, Ye Cheng immediately perked up.

He continued scraping two more layers of sand with the shovel, but before he could even put the shovel down, he felt it hit a hard object.

He reached down and dug, picking up a seashell from the sand. It was yellowish-brown with long, irregular patterns on it. It was a clam, somewhat like the flower clams he ate in his previous life, but three times larger, about half the size of his palm.

Clams are one of the cheapest seafoods available on the market. Ye Cheng remembers that back then, a plate of stir-fried clams at the night market only cost a dozen yuan, and there were foil-wrapped clams everywhere.

It tastes good, is inexpensive, and sells very well.

However, clams and other shellfish come in several types. Sand clams are the cheapest, costing only a few dollars per pound, and are the most commonly used at night market stalls.

Then there are clams, which can sell for 20 or 30 yuan per catty (500 grams).

The most expensive are oil clams, also known as king clams. Smaller ones cost 40, and the larger ones are more expensive, sometimes exceeding 100.

The one I have now is definitely a king among 60-year-olds, and its price is quite high.

When Ye Cheng held the "Old Man King" in his hand, it was terrified and spat out a spray of water, closing the two lids and hiding inside, too afraid to show its face.

Ye Cheng casually tossed it into the bucket; this thing wasn't afraid of running away.

Sure enough, having the system's support makes all the difference! I managed to get the King of the Clams with the first shovel.

At this moment, the system points also changed, increasing by 10 points to 12 points.

It seems the system also knows that the "Old Man of the Flower" is a big one.

Having tasted success, Ye Cheng searched for a while and found another small hole. He scraped and then shoveled, and sure enough, there was movement again.

Lin Feng happily reached out and scooped up another sixty-year-old king, this time even bigger than the previous one, definitely a big one.

There were about seven or eight holes where Ye Cheng squatted. Ye Cheng pulled out five large clams from them, while the others were empty.

Xiao Hu walked over at this moment, glanced at Ye Cheng's bucket, and exclaimed in surprise, "Brother, so many elderly men!"

"Nonsense, how could your brother be bad when he's on the job?"

"Brother, I'll join too."

Seeing that there was something to sell, Xiao Hu got excited and dug into several holes, but they were empty except for a small clam.

"Damn it, why don't I have any King Clams?" Little Tiger looked at the small clam in his hand and suddenly lost his enthusiasm.

"Keep going, don't give up, you can do it." Ye Cheng encouraged Xiao Hu, then moved to a different spot and started digging.

Basically, he could find five or six jujubes out of ten holes. In just half an hour, he dug up half a bucket of jujubes.

Over there, Xiao Hu finally had a harvest, digging up his first clam, but it was still much smaller than Ye Cheng's.

It was Ye Cheng's first time going to the beach, and squatting there working like this was getting a bit too much for him. He stopped and tossed his shovel to Xiao Hu, saying, "Here, you take this and dig. I've blessed it."

Xiao Hu believed it and grabbed it, saying happily, "Brother, I noticed your shovel was different a long time ago. It's been blessed! No wonder you were able to dig up so much."

After saying that, the boy rushed to the beach with great enthusiasm and started plowing. Yes, this animal was strong. When he was plowing, he would dig randomly whenever he saw a hole, making a mess of the beach.

Ye Cheng looked at him speechlessly, "Why don't you reincarnate as a cow?"

According to the system's instructions, if the tools redeemed through the system can enjoy a lucky bonus, then Little Tiger should be able to as well.

However, things didn't go as planned. Xiao Hu searched the entire beach but only found a few worthless clams.

"Brother, you're lying. What 'blessed' thing? It's useless." Xiao Hu plopped down next to Ye Cheng, panting heavily.

Ye Cheng reluctantly took the shovel, sighed, and thought, "It seems this system is ruthless enough. It insists on doing it myself, huh? Well, then I'll do it."

"You take a break, I'll go get some more."

"Brother, stop messing around. I've dug up the whole area, and there's nothing there," Xiao Hu said, taking a big gulp of water.

"If you dig like that, what will you find? Be careful."

That's what they say, but Ye Cheng still changed locations and walked a bit further away. Now he was familiar with what he was doing, scraping and digging across the sand with the small shovel.

Before Xiao Hu could even light a cigarette, he saw Ye Cheng have already bought several more "Hua Jia Wang" cigarettes.

"Brother, you didn't cheat, did you?" Xiao Hu's mouth dropped open, his face filled with disbelief.

"Cheating my ass! This is technology, you know what technology is?"

Enjoying the benefits of having the system, Ye Cheng couldn't help but feel smug.

He now understands why anglers are never afraid of harsh conditions; what they enjoy is the thrill of the catch, that moment when they pull the fish out of the water.

Now I'm experiencing the same thing. Looking at the increasing number of clams in the bucket, putting aside the money, the joy of the harvest is something that nothing else can replace.

The two dug on the beach for more than three hours, until Ye Cheng's hands were numb and he couldn't take it anymore.

Especially my legs. I'd never exercised them before, and bending over to work for three hours straight was really unbearable. It's definitely more effective than going to the gym.

And the sun overhead, it's got all the calcium I need.

Ye Cheng stopped and looked around. His bucket was full, and Xiao Hu's bucket was also more than half full. They had a very good harvest.

Another point Ye Cheng discovered was that most of the results were achieved in the first two hours of the three-hour period, and in the last hour, no matter how hard he tried, he basically couldn't get any results.

He checked his system: Luck value 60?

Is this luck stat related to the harvest?

They'll stop distributing after you dig up a certain amount?

Dude, that's not called luck, that's called traffic.

We'll have to wait until we get back to study this in more detail.

Not bad, his points have increased to 20. He glanced at the system, but it was still not unlocked. He could only wait.

"Little Tiger, that's enough, it's time to go back." Ye Cheng looked at the distant sky; the sun was already setting, and the warm sea breeze had taken on a slight chill.

Although Xiao Hu looked a little tired, he was still full of energy. "Brother, how about we have some more? My bucket isn't full yet."
