Another beautiful day begins!
"Ring ring ring ring..."
With the sound of the alarm clock, another beautiful day begins.
Rubbing her eyes, Chen Zhiyao casually tied her hair into a high ponytail and then went to the bathroom to wash up.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Chen Zhiyao frowned:
"Why does my face seem a bit rounder? That doesn't make sense, considering how much I've been exercising lately."
Sigh, it's all because my mom and grandma are such good cooks.
Although Chen Zhiyao said she had gained weight, she ate breakfast with more gusto than anyone else, devouring two large bowls of clam rice noodles.
When the grandfather and grandson arrived at the pier, it was already fully light, and the beach was bustling with activity.
On the distant white sand beach, a number of people gathered to go beachcombing. They chatted and picked up various kinds of small seafood, their days were busy and fulfilling.
A flock of seagulls flew in from afar; these little guys had also gotten up early to forage for food.
The village's white sand beach
The early bird catches the worm. After adding gasoline and ice to the fishing boat, the grandfather and grandson couldn't wait to set off for Danshui Island.
Seafood prices have risen recently, and there are noticeably more fishing boats going out to sea than before.
Along the way, Chen Zhiyao saw many fishing boats fishing, and everyone was busy making a living.
Danshui Island is quite far from the mainland, so there are relatively few fishing boats going there for beachcombing and fishing.
After sailing for more than an hour, the fishing boat finally caught sight of the distant Danshui Island.
Further afield, on Dolphin Island, a fishing boat was already moored, looking somewhat like my uncle's fishing boat.
Chen Zhiyao took out her phone, and sure enough, there were several photos posted by her eldest cousin in the large family group chat. They had already gone to the island to go beachcombing.
Before going to the island, Chen Zhiyao turned on the fish finder and circled the nearby waters.
However, they didn't see any decent schools of fish, so they decided to take the fishing boat to the vicinity of the stream outlet on the island.
Three-knife fish are found in this area, and the grandfather and grandson thought they'd try their luck and see if they could catch a few of these expensive little creatures.
Chen Zhiyao set off two gillnets, seven crab traps, and five ground traps all in this area of the sea.
Seeing that there was no suitable place to moor the boat nearby, she continued to drive the fishing boat forward, intending to dock at the spot where her older cousin had moored the boat last time.
Halfway there, Xiaomeng's excited voice suddenly echoed in my mind.
"Tangtang, there's a cave in the cliff ahead. I can sense something good inside."
Upon hearing Xiaomeng's words, Chen Zhiyao perked up and quickly craned her neck to look at the cliff in front of her.
After looking for a while, I finally spotted a cave in a bare rock wall.
She had only visited Tamsui Island twice in the past few years to go beachcombing. Last time she came, she only fished and went beachcombing in front of the cave and never came to this cave.
But it's alright, we still have our grandfather, the encyclopedia! Chen Zhiyao immediately pointed to the cave in front of her and said with a beaming smile:
"Grandpa, there's a cave ahead. Let's go take a look. Maybe we'll find something unexpected, like the cave on Dolphin Island."
Many fishermen in the area know about that cave. Grandpa Chen has been there a few times. There are mostly sea snails, but nothing of value.
However, seeing his granddaughter so enthusiastic, the old man didn't spoil the mood.
Most importantly, Grandpa Chen felt that his granddaughter was particularly lucky, and perhaps there really would be an unexpected surprise.
Since we're already here, there's no harm in taking a look.
Mysterious Cave
The grandfather and grandson moored their fishing boat near the cave, then rowed their small inflatable boat to the cave entrance.
However, the two did not rush into the cave, but instead carefully examined the rocks outside.
Unfortunately, after looking around, I didn't find any valuable goose barnacles.
There were quite a few oysters and mussels, but they weren't very big, so the grandfather and grandson were too lazy to pry them open and instead rowed the kayak back to the cave entrance.
The cave is quite high, but the entrance is only a little over a meter wide. If you paddle a small inflatable boat in, you can only stop at the entrance.
However, the tide had just receded by then, and the water at the cave entrance only reached Chen Zhiyao's waist.
The entrance to the cave was quite bright, but it became darker and darker the further you went in.
Fortunately, the grandfather and grandson were prepared, each wearing a headlamp on their forehead, instantly brightening the originally dark cave.
The cave is higher than the entrance, and the deeper you go, the shallower the water becomes, with rocks and gravel exposed at the very back.
The cave is rectangular, and although it is relatively narrow, it is quite deep, at least six or seven meters deep.
The first half is submerged in seawater, while the innermost part is exposed above the sea surface.
However, the tide is out now. If the tide comes in, the innermost part will probably be covered by seawater.
Chen Zhiyao looked around and found that the cave was surrounded by hard rocks covered with oysters and barnacles that were inedible, so densely packed that it made her scalp tingle.
As for the conch shells the old man mentioned earlier, not a single one was found.
Grandpa Chen was also a little puzzled. There used to be a lot of conch shells here, but now he couldn't see a single one.
Seeing that the cave was safe, Chen Zhiyao turned on her X-ray glasses for beachcombing.
Immediately afterwards, we saw many large, green creatures hidden in the crevices of the cave.
These are all large mud crabs weighing over a pound each, with the largest estimated to be two pounds. This is probably the mud crabs' lair.
As for the conch shells that were originally inside the cave, they were probably eaten by these big guys long ago.
Just then, the old man's excited voice came from ahead:
"Tangtang, come quick, come quick! There are lots of big blue crabs here."
"I also have a lot of huge blue crabs here."
She wasn't just making things up; there really was a giant creature in the crevice right in front of her.
Sensing that someone was watching it, the creature warily raised its two enormous pincers, assuming a defensive stance.
"You're quite vigilant."
Unfortunately, once the all-purpose clip was used, the guy had no chance to resist and was quickly pulled out by Chen Zhiyao.
The crab shell was covered with a layer of light green moss and was wet, making it slippery and almost causing it to fall off.
"Wow, this big blue crab must weigh at least a pound and a half."
Chen Zhiyao deftly took out a cable tie, tied the two large pliers together, and then happily put them into the bucket.

Thinking about the recent increase in seafood prices, Chen Zhiyao was even happier: "Such a big blue crab can probably sell for 80 yuan a pound."
With so many big blue crabs in the cave, we're going to make a fortune!
As soon as she placed the blue crab, she spotted a crevice in the rock near her waist, where a large creature was hiding.
This guy is hiding very well. Chen Zhiyao lay on the rock, stretching her arms as far into the crevice as possible.
The large blue crab was very heavy, probably weighing about two pounds.
Moreover, this thing was slippery, and the clamp kept slipping.
After finally managing to hold the behemoth securely, when I came out, the oyster had torn a long gash in my sleeve.
These oysters were small, but exceptionally sharp. They not only tore my clothes, but also left a faint scratch on my arm.
Fortunately, she was wearing arm sleeves, so she only scraped her skin and didn't bleed.
Although there was no bleeding, it still hurt quite a bit.
However, seeing the giant blue crab in his hand, which was even bigger than his own face, immediately cheered him up.
This big thing is worth at least 200 yuan.
