Pufferfish
Pufferfish are also called "chengyu," "jipao," or "guiyu" in their region. They generally live in seawater, but can also survive in freshwater.
This little creature is covered in short, bristly hairs; its back is dark brown, and its belly is white. When threatened, its body swells into a round, bulging ball.
Although pufferfish have a bad reputation among anglers, this little guy is just too cute.
Chen Zhiyao looked at it and her mind went blank. How could there be such an adorable little creature?
Since the fish tank at home is still empty, I plan to take it back and keep it in the fish tank.
As soon as Chen Zhiyao put the pufferfish in her hand into the bucket, she noticed that the two old men on her left and the grandfather on her right had all moved to the sides by a large distance.
Just then, Grandpa Chen urged from the front, "Tangtang, there are pufferfish over there, hurry up and come over here."
"It's okay, this little thing is quite cute. If we catch another one, we can put it in our fish tank at home."
Although Chen Zhiyao had heard of the reputation of this "Little Prince of the Cutting Line," this was the first time she had encountered him while fishing.
She was still unaware of the power of these little cuties and, disbelieving, cast the fishing hook back to its original position.
The fishing rod started to vibrate slightly less than a minute after the bait was cast.
But after a while, there was no movement again. After repeating this three times, it finally calmed down completely.
When Chen Zhiyao saw that the fishing rod had stopped moving, she thought it had gotten off the hook.
She pulled up the fishing hook and found that the once lively and jumping shrimp was now just a bald head.
"Is it that amazing?"
Unwilling to accept defeat, Chen Zhiyao hung another large shrimp on the spot and tossed it back to its original position.
The fishing hook soon vibrated slightly, but just like before, before I could reel in the line, it went silent.
After repeating this twice, when I pulled the hook up, sure enough, all that was left was a bald shrimp head.
"These little creatures are quite picky; they won't even eat the shrimp heads."
Chen Zhiyao was so angry she laughed, and she even got into a fight with these little guys, stubbornly throwing the bait back.
About two minutes later, a fish finally took the bait. Chen Zhiyao immediately lifted the rod to set the hook, and when she felt the hook was firmly attached, she began to frantically reel in the line.
The reel had only spun a few times when suddenly she loosened her grip on the fishing rod, and the fishing line floated lightly on the surface of the water.
Chen Zhiyao slapped her thighs hard, gritting her teeth as she stared at the water.
"This little prince of tangents truly lives up to his reputation."
Seeing that she couldn't catch any fish here, she decided not to stay there foolishly. Chen Zhiyao quickly packed her things and ran to the outermost part of the dock.
Chen Zhiyao ran very fast, as if she was afraid they would catch up with her.
She couldn't afford to mess with these little guys, so she could just find another fishing spot; there was no need to waste time here.
As I passed by Grandpa Chen, I saw that the old man had already caught half a bucket of rockfish.
Chen Zhiyao teased with a smile, "Grandpa, you've stirred up trouble for Shi Jiugong, haven't you?"
The old man was speechless. He had been fishing for half a day and all he had caught were these small fish. He hadn't seen a single big one.
The grandfather and grandson were now at the very edge of the dock, a place overgrown with weeds and teeming with vicious mosquitoes.
Chen Zhiyao first sprayed mosquito repellent around the area, and then lit two mosquito coils.
After the annoying mosquitoes finally disappeared, he sat down and quietly continued fishing.
Less than a minute after sitting down, Chen Zhiyao's fishing rod was suddenly pulled violently.
The fishing line taut instantly, pulling the fishing rod into a crescent shape.
Chen Zhiyao jumped up from the small stool. "Goodness, this fish must weigh five or six pounds!"
She, who had been listless, suddenly became excited, her voice rising with excitement and pride.
Seeing his granddaughter about to catch her second big fish, the old man felt a pang of jealousy, thinking that all he ever caught were small shrimps (*?????).
But the next second, the old man's fishing rod suddenly sank, and he felt a strong pulling force in his hand.
Finally, a big fish took the bait. Grandpa Chen stood up excitedly, his expression serious and earnest.
The grandfather and grandson surprisingly caught fish at the same time, and both fishing rods were pulled and deformed simultaneously.
Two other elderly men nearby watched the two men excitedly walking their fish, their eyes practically red with envy.
One person was silently chanting "decoupling, decoupling" in their mind, while the other was thinking about "cutting line, cutting line" in their mind.
Unfortunately, the two of them could never bring themselves to say "Oh ho".
The fish in Chen Zhiyao's hand was clearly not as big as the ones she had caught before, which weighed ten or twenty pounds. It was already getting tired after about 10 minutes of playing it.
Taking advantage of the fish's weakness, Chen Zhiyao quickly and violently spun the reel to start reeling in the line.
At this moment, the fish in the sea were still struggling, constantly thrashing their bodies, trying to break free of the fishhook in their mouths.
Unfortunately, the strength of the person and the fish was still quite different, and soon Chen Zhiyao dragged the fish, which was reluctant to come ashore, up.
Amidst the spray of waves, she spotted a grouper with a reddish body and red spots.
Chen Zhiyao's eyes widened instantly, and she excitedly called out to her grandfather:
"Grandpa, Grandpa, look! Isn't this the red-spotted fish that people were talking about in the group chat?"
Grandpa Chen, who was excitedly playing with the fish, immediately turned around after hearing about the red-spotted fish.
"It really is a red-spotted fish, and it looks to weigh about 5 pounds. You're quite lucky, little girl."
Once she confirmed that it was indeed the king of fish, the red-spotted fish, Chen Zhiyao was so happy that her hands were trembling.
Fortunately, the fish wasn't too big, and Chen Zhiyao was able to pull it ashore by herself.
Wow, this red-spotted fish is huge! It must be worth several thousand!
As soon as the fish was caught, Chen Zhiyao quickly took a few photos and sent them to the group chat.
Red-spotted fish
The fishing group, which had just been in an uproar this morning, immediately erupted again upon seeing the second giant red-spotted fish.
Seeing that everyone in the group was asking where she caught the fish, Chen Zhiyao quietly put her phone away.
How could she possibly reveal the existence of this auspicious location?
By this time, Grandpa Chen had exhausted himself from wading through the big creatures in the sea.
Seeing this, Chen Zhiyao quickly grabbed a fishing net and waited to the side.
Then a large sea bass weighing about 10 pounds leaped up from the sea surface, splashing up waves more than a meter high.
Unfortunately, it was just a brief moment of lucidity before it was completely exhausted and was quickly dragged out of the water by the old man, only to be caught by the net in Chen Zhiyao's hand.
The sea bass was huge, measuring 70 or 80 centimeters long, and the photo of the grandfather and grandson quickly went viral in the group chat.
Two old men not far away were extremely envious and jealous of the grandfather and grandson who were carrying red-spotted fish and a 10-pound bass.
The two glanced at each other, then, with perfect understanding, carried their fishing gear to the grandfather and grandson's side, casting their fishing rods directly into the water in front of them.
Seeing the two's actions, Chen Zhiyao was a little angry. Just as she was about to say something, her grandfather tugged at her sleeve.
The old man gently shook his head, patted his granddaughter's hand reassuringly, and whispered:
“This dock is unclaimed. It’s a bit unethical, but this place doesn’t belong to us.”
"And with two big fish caught in a row, making such a commotion, the fish below must have been scared away long ago."
Chen Zhiyao's expression softened a bit when she realized that there probably wouldn't be several large creatures in the same place.
Looking at the red-spotted fish, which was already exhausted, Chen Zhiyao wondered if she should go back and sell it soon.
This fish is so expensive, if it dies, we'll lose a lot of money.
Just then, Boss Yang called her:
"Tangtang, please save this fish for me. We can discuss the price."
