White sand beach after the tide has receded
Seeing a large group of people coming to the beach behind her, Chen Zhiyao deliberately walked to the left where there were fewer people.
She doesn't like crowded places, and whenever she goes beachcombing in the village, she makes a point of going to less crowded areas.
Hearing a bustling sound coming from not far away, Chen Zhiyao quickened her pace and arrived at a quiet beach.
The tide had just begun to recede, and many small seafood items left on the beach had not yet had time to hide.
Along the way, Chen Zhiyao picked up quite a few more octopuses and cat's eye snails.

Actually, there were quite a few white clams and clams, but Chen Zhiyao thought these small shells were cheap and small, so she didn't pick them up.
"Splash..." As the waves receded, more and more sand was revealed.
With her sharp eyes, Chen Zhiyao spotted several beautiful snails where the tide had just receded.
Pretty little seashells
These snails are different from ordinary snails; they are red and white, making them look very delicate and beautiful.
Chen Zhiyao picked up the snails and found that they were very light in her hand, and were all empty shells without any meat.
However, she still put them in the bucket next to her, intending to take them home as a keepsake.
When Chen Zhiyao went to Guangzhou before, she brought a lot of her treasured and beautiful seashells to her two friends, and her treasure box was already quite empty.
She can pick up some pretty seashells to take home and add to her little treasure trove.
However, there weren't many of these pretty little seashells, and many of them were broken; there were only six intact ones in total.
Chen Zhiyao thought of the large white sand beach on Seagull Island, where there were fewer people and more beautiful seashells.
"The boat has been rented, let's go to Seagull Island tomorrow."
Seagull Island not only boasts mangrove forests, white sand beaches, and rocky shores perfect for beachcombing, but also offers opportunities to fish for three-knife fish, making it a truly remarkable island with abundant marine resources.
Chen Zhiyao immediately decided to go to Seagull Island tomorrow, and also to see the intelligent sea turtle from last time.
After carefully placing the pretty little seashells, Chen Zhiyao happily continued walking forward.
She had only taken two steps when she saw a palm-sized clam in a small puddle ahead.
Unlike the scallops that usually hide under the mudflats, this one has been washed out by the sea.

These scallops looked rather thin, and she initially thought they were just empty shells, but they turned out to be quite heavy in her hand, indicating that there was clearly meat inside.
Chen Zhiyao gently touched the slightly open mouth of the clam, and the clam reacted quickly, almost getting pinched.

Besides this one, Chen Zhiyao also saw several other clams on the mudflats in front of her.
With a sand shovel, she dug one out in a few quick movements, and in no time, there were five clams in the bucket.
This stuff is cheap, so Chen Zhiyao doesn't plan to sell it. She'll just take it back and use it to make steamed scallops with vermicelli.
A moment later, Chen Zhiyao saw a large, lush green seaweed directly in front of her, which was growing quite well.
However, the real treasure was a large blue crab hiding under the seaweed.
This guy thought he wouldn't be discovered by hiding under the seaweed, but alas, the seaweed itself is conspicuous enough.
Chen Zhiyao wiped out the entire herd of seaweed and crabs.
This kelp makes a delicious cold dish, and if you can't finish it, you can dry it and save it for later.
This one big piece of seaweed is enough to feed the family for two days.
After picking up the kelp, there were two small clams underneath, which Chen Zhiyao also picked up.

There were also several small pinkish-purple starfish on the beach, all of which were quite pretty.
However, Chen Zhiyao didn't like to eat this stuff, and the purchasing station didn't want it, so she could only leave it for someone else who was destined to have it later.
After walking a few steps, she saw several moon shells on the beach that had just been left by the sea.
These moon shells are large and round, looking just like the moon on the fifteenth of the lunar month.
Chen Zhiyao casually picked them all and put them into her bucket; just a few of them weighed a pound.

As the tide receded, some small, yellowish-green crabs, no bigger than chess pieces, were busy lying on the sand.
They're called "flower girl crabs" here. Don't let their small size fool you; they're all fully grown crabs.
This type of crab is delicious, but it has relatively little meat. It is usually deep-fried or used to make seafood porridge.
Because of their small size, the purchasing stations generally don't want them.
Since they couldn't be sold for money, Chen Zhiyao didn't specifically look for them. If she came across them, she would just pick them up and put them in a bucket to take home and cook seafood porridge.
If they're hiding well, let them go.
There wasn't much on the beach here. Along the way, Chen Zhiyao mostly saw clams, moon shells, and flower crabs, which weren't very valuable.

As she walked, Chen Zhiyao suddenly discovered that under a cluster of breathing holes in front of her, there were quite a few valuable little creatures hidden.
She took the sand shovel and quickly dug down into one of the breathing holes.
In just a few moments, they dug out something the size of a fingernail, with a long tail at the back, that looked like a soybean sprout.
Because it looks like a bean sprout, it's called a sea bean sprout here, and it's considered a relative of the 60-year-old.
Sea bean sprouts
Sea bean sprouts, scientifically known as *Lycopodium ligulatum*, are also called "Pi Laoban" in some places.
Sea bean sprouts taste delicious and cost over 40 yuan per jin in the market, but can be sold for around 30 yuan per jin at the purchasing station.
Although it's related to the 60-year-old, this thing is more expensive than razor clams, so I naturally couldn't let it pass me by.
The sand shovel was too small, so after digging a couple of times, Chen Zhiyao took out the spade and quickly started digging on the beach.
With the X-ray glasses, these little guys had nowhere to escape, and Chen Zhiyao could dig them up one by one.
In less than 20 minutes, she had dug up all the sea bean sprouts in that small patch in front of her.
The bucket, which was originally only half full, was almost completely filled in no time.
Chen Zhiyao estimated that it weighed about eight or nine pounds.
Fortunately, she dug quickly. Chen Zhiyao had only walked about 10 meters forward with her bucket when a group of people who were also there to gather seafood arrived at the spot where she had been digging bean sprouts.
As the tide receded, more small seafood was left on the beach.
Wearing X-ray glasses, Chen Zhiyao looked like someone who had come to buy seafood, bending over and picking various kinds of seafood into the bucket.

Seeing that there were more and more people behind her, Chen Zhiyao quickly quickened her pace and left them behind.
Chen Zhiyao slowed down only after she had put a considerable distance between herself and the people behind her.
Then she saw several small reddish-purple scallops in front of her.
These little creatures stood out conspicuously, as if they were glowing in the afterglow of the setting sun.
Before long, Chen Zhiyao's bucket was filled with a large handful of small scallops.

As the sun continued to sink, the seawater finally receded to the very back, and all sorts of valuable small seafood gradually surfaced.
