Night fishing
The three walked toward the village chatting and laughing, but after walking only about 10 meters, they ran into the Chen family father and son who were fishing.
Upon seeing his granddaughter, Grandpa Chen immediately stepped forward with a beaming smile:
"The fishing is good at the pier today. That big fish we caught this morning was caught here. Tangtang, let's go fishing together."
"I have a spare fishing rod here." Chen Weiqiang, who was standing next to her, also smiled and waved the fishing rod in his hand at her.
Upon hearing about fishing, Chen Zhiyao immediately perked up, her clear and lively eyes instantly curving into two crescent moons with a smile.
"Great! I can feel the fish beckoning to me."
People are in high spirits when they have good things to do. Chen Zhiyao, who just rented a fishing boat, is now full of energy and can't wait to catch 10 or 8 big fish.
So she immediately abandoned her mother and excitedly followed the father and son towards the dock.
Yan Shuting, with a helpless expression, instructed Chen Weiqiang and his daughter, "It's still quite cold at night, come back early and don't catch a cold."
Chen Zhiyao smiled and replied perfunctorily, "Okay."
Watching the three of them laughing and joking as they walked away, Yan Shuting smiled and shook her head, then strolled slowly into the village with her best friend.
Before fishing, Chen Zhiyao, beaming with excitement and pride, took her grandfather and father for a stroll on her fishing boat.
Chen Weiqiang nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad. It even has a fish finder and a small crane. It may be small, but it has all the essential parts."
As an experienced old fisherman, Grandpa Chen observed very carefully, and after walking around, a satisfied smile appeared in his eyes.
Chen Zhiyao, who came up for the second time, also made a new discovery.
She had originally thought the ship didn't have a toilet, but she was surprised to find a makeshift toilet inside the kitchen.
After disembarking from the boat, the three of them hurriedly and cheerfully arrived at the auspicious feng shui site that Grandpa Chen had mentioned.
Whether there are fish or not is hard to say, but the scenery is quite nice.
The big, round moon hung high in the sky, a few seagulls flew across the horizon, and the water shimmered, looking like a tranquil landscape painting.
Fishing spot
The three of them each chose a good spot to sit down, and then in unison cast their fishing hooks, each with a large shrimp attached, into the water.
As Chen Zhiyao admired the beautiful moonlight, she patiently waited for the fish to take the bait.
In less than two minutes, Grandpa Chen next to me caught a fish, and the fishing line that was originally dangling suddenly became taut.
"Haha, the fishing is really good today, we've already got a bite as soon as we arrived."
The old man was slinging the fish around with a broad smile, and his hearty laughter filled the dock.
Chen Weiqiang, standing to the side, was filled with envy. He then quietly moved closer to the old man's fishing spot, hoping to get some of his luck.
The fish wasn't big; Grandpa Chen only needed two minutes to reel it in before he caught a silvery-gray one, which looked to weigh about two pounds.
"It's a black sea bream. Good luck, a great start." Grandpa Chen deftly took the fish off the plate.
Black sea bream
Black sea bream are inland bay fish that generally live in sandy, muddy, or rocky areas. They like to eat small seafood such as clams, small fish, and shrimp.
This fish rarely grows to 20 or 30 pounds like sea bass; it usually only weighs a maximum of 8 or 9 pounds.
However, this is in the deep sea. In nearshore areas, a wild black sea bream weighing three or four kilograms is already considered very large.
Black sea bream has the effects of strengthening the spleen and promoting diuresis, replenishing qi and blood, and is suitable for people who are weak in qi and blood after illness to nourish themselves. It is also quite expensive.
Although it's not as big as a sea bass, it can sell for fifty or sixty yuan per kilogram.
Grandpa Chen's black sea bream seemed to be a signal, and soon after, Chen Zhiyao's fishing rod also felt a light pull.
She's been fishing a lot lately, and practice makes perfect; she's now quite skilled at it.
With her exceptional skills, she exhausted the fish in the sea in less than two minutes.
Chen Zhiyao smiled slightly and quickly flew up a silver-gray black sea bream weighing more than two pounds.
However, she used too much force, and the fish flew straight towards her face.
The black sea bream, which was already exhausted, struggled desperately in the air, its large, flexible tail swishing back and forth.
Just as this dark-skinned guy was about to slap her face, Chen Zhiyao quickly dodged to the side.
"That was close, I almost got slapped in the face again."
Chen Zhiyao, looking terrified, pressed the black sea bream on the ground down, then muttered under her breath:
"Do I have a grudge against sea bream? Why do they all want to slap me in the face?"
Chen Zhiyao grew angrier the more she thought about it, and in a vengeful mood, she decided to save the black sea bream for steaming tomorrow.
The fishing was indeed good today. Chen Zhiyao quickly baited the hook and then cast it back into the water with a smile.
Less than two minutes later, her fishing rod started moving again, and the tension felt about the same as before.
Chen Zhiyao's eyes were full of smiles; she guessed it was another valuable black sea bream.
Meanwhile, Grandpa Chen had already caught two black sea bream and happily threw the bait back into the water.
Seeing the grandfather and grandson's consecutive black sea bream shots, Chen Weiqiang was so envious he could hardly contain himself, and couldn't help but mutter with a pained expression:
"The feng shui of this place is bad; I don't know where the fish have gone."
Without hesitation, he brazenly went to the old man's fishing spot and sat down next to him.
It's one thing if it's just family, but if it were someone else, Chen Weiqiang would probably get beaten up for doing that.
Seeing that the fishing was going well, Grandpa Chen ignored him and focused on fishing.
Chen Weiqiang smiled ingratiatingly at him, then quickly cast his fishing rod into the water.
Not long after, Chen Weiqiang, who had been out of the fishing spot for several days, finally caught a fish.
Chen Weiqiang was so excited that he jumped up and down twice, then calmly started playing with the fish.
There were probably schools of black sea bream nearby, and the three of them were catching fish one after another, as if they were buying them.
Although both were black sea bream, the fish caught varied considerably.
After the fish dispersed, the three men beamed as they compared their catches.
Grandpa Chen caught the most, a total of eight black sea bream, but none of them were very big. Except for the first one, which weighed two pounds, the others were all a little over one pound.
Chen Zhiyao caught six black sea bream, which was a small number, but they were quite large, almost all weighing around two pounds, with one even weighing more than three pounds.
Chen Weiqiang came in last, catching only three fish, each weighing just over a pound.
"These fish are selective about who they eat from. They're all from the same pond, so why don't they like my bait?" Chen Weiqiang said indignantly.
"Who told you to be such a bad person?" Grandpa Chen laughed with a smug look on his face.
Chen Zhiyao, without any regard for age, jokingly teased her father:
"Haha, maybe it's because you sell fishing gear, which is considered a sin, that the fish in the sea don't like you."
Chen Weiqiang, hands on his hips, glared disapprovingly at the smug grandfather and grandson.
"Hmph, it's still early. Let's have a competition and see who catches the biggest fish tonight."
"Sure, let's have a competition."
Grandpa Chen, who is usually mature and wise, has now lost his mind and is comparing himself to his son in a childish way.
“Okay, count me in then.” Chen Zhiyao then joined in with a smile.
The three of them simultaneously cast their bait into the water, their faces showing the same serious expression.
