Chapter 90 Reef Island 3

What Chen Zhiyao was holding was a small dolphin that had been puffed up.

Adorable little pufferfish

The little guy is small, with a round belly, and looks very cute and adorable.

Chen Zhiyao couldn't take her eyes off the adorable little face, and her fingers involuntarily poked the snow-white, round little belly several times.

It felt surprisingly good, so I couldn't resist poking it a couple more times with amusement.

The little pufferfish got angry and its belly swelled up even more, making it look like a small ball.

The pufferfish she caught before is already being kept in her fish tank at home, and this little guy will be a good companion when she goes back.

"This smaller one looks cuter," Chen Zhiyao said, putting it into the bucket.

By this time, the seawater had almost receded to the very back, and judging by the time, the previous puddle was probably almost completely drained.

As Chen Zhiyao was about to turn back, she caught a glimpse of a large, green creature on the coral reef ahead.

Although the color of this large creature is quite similar to the surrounding coral reefs, its huge pincers are still particularly eye-catching.

Blue crab

Chen Zhiyao strode over, quickly picked up the large blue crab, and muttered to herself:

"I almost missed this big guy, a blue crab weighing over a pound! If I had missed it, I probably wouldn't have been able to sleep tonight."

Blue Crab +1

However, this place has more than just this one large blue crab.

While Chen Zhiyao was tying up the crabs, she happened to see a huge conch shell on the coral reef in front of her.

Extra Large Conch

Upon seeing this large machine, Chen Zhiyao's eyes lit up, and she quickly sped up her work.

"This big guy weighs at least a pound."

Chen Zhiyao held the enormous conch shell in her hand, weighed it in her hand, and then happily put it into the nearly full bucket of water.

"Splash..."

Suddenly, a wave crashed in, and seeing that the tide was about to come in, Chen Zhiyao quickly carried her things back.

That puddle isn't high up; we need to hurry back and catch some fish.

When we got back, the water in the puddle had been almost completely drained.

Except for a few deeper pits that still contain water, most of the reefs have been exposed.

Chen Zhiyao looked ahead and saw that Grandpa Chen had already started catching fish in his puddle.

The old man kept exclaiming in surprise and laughing heartily; it seems he had a very good haul.

Sea snails and crabs won't die immediately out of water, so Chen Zhiyao took two nets out of the bucket, put them in, and set them aside.

Then, carrying a bucket and tongs, they went down into the puddle.

Unexpectedly, after taking only two steps, she saw a rock as tall as herself, on which grew a small clump of plump goose barnacles and some large oysters.

Oysters and goose barnacles

"Goose barnacles!!"

Chen Zhiyao jumped up excitedly, "This puddle is something else! It's already got off to a great start before it even begins!"

Her high ponytail swayed happily, revealing her good mood.

Chen Zhiyao quickly used tongs to pick off the particularly plump goose barnacles one by one, and also collected the large oysters.

These oysters are so plump, I'll steam a few to try at lunchtime.

It's a pity I didn't bring any fans; otherwise, adding some would have made it even tastier.

Before even starting, Chen Zhiyao had already harvested over a pound of goose barnacles and several large oysters, and she was now full of energy.

She went down into the puddle and found that most of the water had been pumped out, so she moved the pump to a spot where there was still water and continued pumping.

puddle

The water pump continued to work, while Chen Zhiyao walked towards the area that had been drained.

In a small triangular pit formed by several small stones, a long, thin fish with horizontal stripes on its body was trapped.

Chen Zhiyao picked it up and then realized it was a dog shark.

Dogfish are highly nutritious, rich in collagen, and have a soft, chewy texture with a rich flavor. They are more expensive than other fish.

The two dog sharks we had last time sold for 85 yuan per jin (500g), so the two little guys were over 200 yuan.

Chen Zhiyao held the dogfish between her legs and happily weighed it in her hand; it probably weighed about two pounds.

She had only taken two steps when she saw a thick tail in a crevice in the rocks.

moray eel tail

Chen Zhiyao stepped forward and pulled it out of the crack in the rock.

The little guy was quite chubby; it took Chen Zhiyao a while to pull it out intact.

This is an old acquaintance; it's a conger eel weighing over three pounds.

(The moray eel looks a bit scary, so I won't post full-body pictures anymore. I think everyone can accept this level of detail, right?)

When the conger eel was pulled out, it also brought out two large, thumb-sized snails. Chen Zhiyao happily put the two little guys into the bucket.

Spicy snails +2

As I got up, I happened to see a nest of snails in a crevice in the rocks next to me.

Although these snails weren't very big, they still weighed several kilograms.

By this time, all the seawater at the lowest point had been pumped out, leaving only large and small rocks in the drained pit.

At first glance, it seems like there's nothing there, but through X-ray glasses, you can clearly see that there are many good things hidden under the cracks in the rocks.

In a low-lying area, hidden in a crevice in the rocks was a yellow-footed waxfish weighing nearly two pounds and several stone gobies.

Chen Zhiyao simply lifted the stone in front of her, and the fish underneath were frantically wagging their tails, but unfortunately there was too little water, so they couldn't swim at all.

Then Chen Zhiyao obediently put these little fish into the bucket.

As soon as she got up, she heard the sound of fish swishing their tails in a small pit to her left.

Chen Zhiyao looked in the direction of the sound and saw a sea bass weighing more than three kilograms in the puddle.

This guy probably sensed the danger and tried desperately to squeeze into the crevice, but unfortunately his body was too big, so he could only stick tightly to the crevice.

Sea bass +1

After the sea bass was removed, a pink hue was revealed from the crevice in the rock.

Unexpectedly, there was a red sea bream hiding in the crevice of the rock. Chen Zhiyao happily pulled the little guy out of there.

Red sea bream +1

Having looted everything here, Chen Zhiyao turned and walked to the other side of the puddle.

From afar, she could see two small, golden-yellow spheres at the bottom of the pit; they were clearly coconut snails.

Coconut snail

Upon seeing the coconut snails, Zhiyao ran over happily.

These two coconut snails are quite large, about the size of my dad's fist.

Chen Zhiyao picked them up and looked inside carefully, but unfortunately she didn't find any Melo Pearls.

Although there are no Melo pearls, coconut snails are still quite expensive, costing over 100 yuan per kilogram.

The sound of a coconut snail being tossed into a bucket is as pleasant as the sound of gold coins falling into a pocket.

Coconut snail +2

Soon, Chen Zhiyao reached the bottom of the pit, where there was a shallow layer of seawater at the lowest point.

You can clearly see several large fish thrashing their tails violently in the water.

Suddenly, a huge black sea bream leaped out of the water.

Then it jumped into another small pit that still had water, and quickly hid in a crevice between the rocks.

Having witnessed everything, Chen Zhiyao whispered a compliment, "This fish is so smart, could it have become a spirit?"
