Chapter 10 The Great Tide 2

Following the sound, Chen Zhiyao walked over with light steps.

Soon, she saw a fish trapped in a puddle, and the fish looked very familiar.

"This pearl grouper must weigh about 5 pounds. The tide really makes a difference."

With excitement and surprise in her voice, Chen Zhiyao happily picked up the fishing net.

The stones around the puddle were only as high as her thighs, and the puddle itself was only half the size of a dining table.

The pearl grouper inside was exhausted from struggling and looked listless, so she quickly scooped it out.

Chen Zhiyao gripped the net pole with both hands, feeling its weight, and her round eyes smiled into crescent moons.

"It's so heavy. This fish alone must weigh four or five pounds."

Pearl grouper, also known as pearl bream, is a new type of grouper bred by crossbreeding giant grouper and tiger grouper.

Pearl grouper combines the advantages of two types of fish, with a softer and more tender texture and a faster growth rate, making it the most common grouper on the market.

Pearl grouper

This pearl grouper was too big, so Chen Zhiyao poured the cat's eye snails and blue crabs from the bucket into a net bag before putting the big guy into the bucket.

After settling the large object in my hand, I looked up and saw that in just a short while, the coastline had receded a large section again.

The area that was originally covered by blue seawater slowly came to light, and the various little creatures hiding in the seawater were also exposed.

Various seashells, small snails, and octopuses are readily available.

In the small puddles formed by the rocks, there are still some sea fish that didn't have time to swim away.

Chen Zhiyao effortlessly filled half a net with various small seafood.

She didn't want the cheap clams and other small seashells, but only picked the more valuable little creatures like octopuses, cat's eye snails, and razor clams.

As she walked, Chen Zhiyao, with her sharp eyesight, discovered a nest of flower snails in the crevice between two rocks.

Flower snails, also known as East Wind snails, have irregular yellowish-brown stripes on their outer shells and can be found in coastal areas of southern China.

Sea snails typically inhabit the sandy or muddy seabed several meters deep, and can usually only be found during high tide.

The meat of whelks is plump and delicate, with a delicious flavor, and its price has always remained high, even higher than that of cat's eye whelks at purchasing stations.

Chen Zhiyao walked over excitedly, first picking up a few small creatures that were half-lying on the sand, and then finding several larger ones in the crevices of the rocks nearby.

whelk

After catching the whole bunch of whelks and putting them into the bucket, she could clearly feel that the bucket had become much heavier.

By this time, the seawater had almost receded to the bottom, and Chen Zhiyao quickly activated the X-ray vision function.

Even without this X-ray vision, she can still go beachcombing, but it takes a bit of effort; she has to turn over every single rock to examine it.

With this special feature, these little guys on the beach have nowhere to hide; they can be found no matter where they hide.

Chen Zhiyao looked down at the rocky beach and soon spotted a large blue crab under a rock on her left.

Through the stone, you could see that the creature was entirely green, and it was almost as big as her face.

With the X-ray vision function activated, Chen Zhiyao's strength doubled, and she easily lifted the large rock in front of her.

Although this big guy is very large, it is very agile. As soon as the stone was lifted, it ran frantically to the left.

Chen Zhiyao was quick to react, immediately chasing after it and grabbing the frantically fleeing blue crab.

"This guy is really fat, he must weigh at least a pound."

Blue Crab +1

Seeing two large whelks under the rock, she picked them up and quickly walked to the next rock.

Hidden beneath this half-person-high rock is a blue crab.

However, the rock was too big, and Chen Zhiyao couldn't move it at all. She had no choice but to take the tongs and lie on the ground to grab the orchid crab hiding in the crevices of the rock.

Fortunately, the hole under the rock was quite large, and after a while, she finally managed to pull out a fist-sized orchid crab from the crack in the rock.

Tie the orchid crabs up and put them in the bucket.

Orchid Crab +1

As she looked down, Chen Zhiyao noticed a nest of whelks hidden under a small rock nearby.

She then proceeded to eliminate the entire family as well.

Flower snail +6

With the X-ray vision ability, she could only see things within a meter, so Chen Zhiyao could only move around quickly in the rocky beach.

As Chen Zhiyao approached a puddle, she clearly saw two snake-like creatures hidden in the cracks in the rocks at the bottom of the puddle.

Upon closer inspection, they turned out to be two thin, long eels.

The puddle was quite large and the water inside was deep, so Chen Zhiyao had to go down into the puddle and slowly walk to the crevice where Hai Man was hiding.

Chen Zhiyao acted quickly, using her all-purpose tongs to pull a snake-like creature out of a crack in the rock.

She had been afraid of snakes since she was a child, and looking at this long, thin eel, she immediately felt a chill run down her spine.

This conger eel isn't very big, weighing only about three pounds.

Chen Zhiyao quickly put it into the bucket, and when she turned around, she saw another, larger moray eel burrowing into the crevice between the rocks.

Chen Zhiyao reacted quickly, immediately clamping the exposed tail and pulling the cunning creature out of the crevice.

This eel was huge; its body was almost as thick as Chen Zhiyao's wrist.

Although they were trapped and unable to move, it looked terrifying.

Chen Zhiyao exclaimed again that the system's clamps were really powerful; if it weren't for them, the eel would probably have escaped.

This big guy is twice as heavy as the previous one, probably weighing four or five pounds.

At this point, Chen Zhiyao's bucket was almost full, and there were only 5 minutes left.

She didn't dare to stop and kept moving around, because time is money.

Soon, she found two large blue crabs under a crevice in a rock.

After picking out the two large creatures, Chen Zhiyao casually picked up two cat's eye snails and a few flower snails from under the rocks.

The tide was starting to rise, and the X-ray vision had only one minute left. Chen Zhiyao was preparing to turn back.

Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a giant snail, bigger than her fist, under a large reef.

Chen Zhiyao's eyes widened in surprise. "What a huge conch shell! Could this big thing be a conch shell?"

The image of a dream flashed excitedly in my mind several times: "Tangtang, this is a conch shell! Quickly pick it up, it's very valuable."

Chen Zhiyao climbed over to the bottom of a rock, reached into the crevice, and pried it open. A conch shell, bigger than her palm, was in her hand.

This big thing feels heavy in my hand; it probably weighs more than a pound.

The shell of the conch is rhomboid in shape, with about 7 whorls, and its surface is yellowish-brown. It is generally quite large.

conch

Chen Zhiyao was overjoyed to see the conch shell, which was bigger than her palm.

Conch shells are usually found on the seabed and are difficult to find when beachcombing. This was the first time Chen Zhiyao had found one while beachcombing.

I heard that it can sell for more than 100 yuan per kilogram at the purchasing station.

The time limit for the perspective function had expired, and the surrounding sand and rocks returned to their original appearance.

On her way back, Chen Zhiyao picked up a few more octopuses and some small whelks.

There were actually quite a few moon shells and clams, but these things were too cheap, so Chen Zhiyao didn't pick them up.

The main problem was that the net bags and buckets we brought were almost full, and there was simply no more room to put anything else in.

Not long after, she returned to the rock with the mussels; the little creatures were still there.

Chen Zhiyao took the last net bag she had and broke the delicious mussels off the rocks, filling the net bag to the brim.

"Not bad, not bad, they're all quite plump."

mussels

Although these mussels are not expensive, they are quite delicious, and Chen Zhiyao usually likes to steam them.

I used to work in Guangzhou, and it had been a while since I'd had this, so I really missed it.
