Chapter 31 Typhoon

Beach at dusk

When the grandfather and grandson were walking back from the breakwater, the sky was clear and sunny, but unexpectedly, halfway there, a bunch of dark clouds gathered in the sky.

The strong sea breeze stung her face, and Chen Zhiyao could clearly feel that the sea breeze was stronger than when she had come over.

In the distance, huge waves were churning on the sea, the water looking dark and fierce, as if it could swallow people whole.

The sky was covered with dark clouds, and it looked like a typhoon was about to hit.

When I got home it was only 5 o'clock, but there was no trace of the sun in the sky, and all I could see when I looked up were dark, heavy clouds.

The chickens at home can't get wet in the rain. Grandma Chen was busy working alone in the orchard, and the two of them ran over to help her, worried that she wouldn't be able to manage.

The three of them first fed the chickens, then herded them all back into the house, and then found all the free-range eggs scattered around the orchard.

By the time we finished, it was completely dark, and then a sudden downpour began.

Raindrops the size of soybeans pelted my body, heavy and painful.

Fortunately, their home wasn't far away, and the three of them, wearing raincoats, hurriedly ran back.

However, the rain was so heavy, and it was accompanied by strong winds. When they got home, all three of them were soaked to the bone.

There are two bathrooms in the house, and as soon as the old man got home, he urged his wife and granddaughter to go take a bath.

Meanwhile, Yan Shuting in the kitchen had already started brewing ginger soup.

Chen Zhiyao came out of the room with a clean set of pajamas, just as the gate to the courtyard was pushed open.

Chen Weiqiang, soaked from the rain without an umbrella, stumbled in carrying several ground cages.

Seeing that he was soaked, Yan Shuting frowned and sent him back into the house, telling him to change his clothes quickly.

The typhoon arrived, and the temperature dropped significantly. With her clothes still damp, she felt a bit cold, so Chen Zhiyao quickly went to the bathroom.

At this point, the rain outside intensified, with heavy rain and strong winds pounding against the windowpane, making a pattering sound that was rather irritating.

At that moment, Yan Shuting's voice came from the living room, scolding Chen Weiqiang.

Chen Weiqiang teased his wife in a cheeky manner, and soon the two of them were laughing heartily again.

Hearing the laughter downstairs, Chen Zhiyao unconsciously started laughing along.

A faint aroma of food wafted through the air, and she suddenly felt a little hungry, so she quickly sped up her work.

The wind picked up even more during the meal, but the rain actually lessened a bit.

Although the doors and windows were closed, they still made a creaking and screeching sound under the typhoon's onslaught.

However, no matter how strong the wind and rain were outside, they still couldn't dampen the Chen family's spirits for cooking.

Stir-fried stone crab, steamed golden pomfret, steamed sandworms with local eggs, plus a pot of blanched bok choy – the whole family enjoyed their meal immensely.

Chen Zhiyao ate two large bowls of rice.

Whether it was because her grandma and mom's cooking was too delicious, or because she had been too tired from going to the beach to fish recently, Chen Zhiyao clearly felt that her appetite had increased.

When she was working, she used to eat a small bowl of rice, but now she eats two big bowls every meal.

After eating and drinking her fill, Chen Zhiyao sprawled out on the sofa without any regard for appearances.

Her little hands rubbed her round belly, but her eyes were fixed unsatisfiedly on the potato chips on the table.

I'm so full, but these potato chips look so delicious.

Chen Zhiyao hesitated for a while, but in the end she couldn't resist the urge to eat and reached for the potato chips on the table.

Before she could even touch her, Yan Shuting slapped her away and started berating her.

"You just ate dinner, why are you eating potato chips? Look at you, you've got a double chin."

Chen Zhiyao rubbed her small hands, her face showing anger that she dared not speak out. In the end, she could only mutter softly:

“When I came back a few days ago, you said I had lost a lot of weight and that you wanted to help me gain weight. Now look at me like this.”

"What I read online was right. If you stay at home for more than three days, your parents will find fault with everything you do."

"What did you say? Speak louder." Yan Shuting gave her a domineering glance.

Chen Zhiyao immediately backed down, then looked at her mother with pitiful eyes, her face clearly showing that she wanted to eat.

Despite her tough exterior, Yan Shuting immediately stuffed the potato chips into her arms, but didn't forget to scold her:

"Why are you so greedy? Just like your dad, all you ever do is eat."

The potato chips were already in hand, and Chen Zhiyao ignored her mother's nagging and happily ate them with Chen Weiqiang.

The father and daughter ate slices of food, taking turns and enjoying themselves immensely.

Chen Zhiyao had just finished eating half of her potato chips when she suddenly remembered the fish trap she had put in that morning.

With such a strong typhoon, I wonder if those fish traps were blown away?

Despite her worries, she dared not approach the beach to retrieve the fish traps at this time. If they were blown into the sea by the typhoon, it would be no joke.

The father and daughter were happily eating potato chips together just moments ago, but in the blink of an eye, they started arguing over the last potato chip.

In the end, Yan Shuting took the potato chips away, and the father and daughter dared not say a word of anger.

After eating potato chips, Chen Zhiyao lazily took out her phone and saw that there were several hundred unread messages in the store's fishing group.

She opened the fishing group, and there was so much information in it that it even froze for a few seconds.

Chen Zhiyao skated for a long time before finally reaching the top.

This morning, someone in the group went fishing at the secret fishing spot. First, they caught a 15-pound sea bass, and then a 10-pound grouper.

The sight of two large fish really excited the people in the group, and many of them took time off work to come and fish.

The secret base of the Chen family father and son has now been completely exposed.

If you go down to the bottom, you'll see the two big fish that she and her grandfather caught on the breakwater.

Four big ones appeared at once, and the group chat completely exploded.

These people quickly realized from the background of the photo that they were fishing at the breakwater.

Soon a group of people rushed toward the breakwater, but unfortunately, it started raining heavily before they got there.

These people went fishing and never expected it to rain; they were all soaked to the bone.

Half of the people turned back, but a few stubborn individuals actually braved the heavy rain to fish.

Chen Zhiyao really couldn't understand. Although the bigger the waves, the more expensive the fish, you can't risk your life to fish.

I saw the latest news that there are still people fishing.

Moreover, the fishing was quite good, and I caught two large bass weighing over 10 pounds each.

The group chat is buzzing right now, with several anglers getting ready to brave the wind and rain to go fishing.

As the group leader, Chen Weiqiang gently advised these people to prioritize safety and suggest they spend more time fishing in the future.

After much persuasion from Chen Weiqiang, almost no one stubbornly insisted on going fishing anymore.

Whether they went secretly behind closed doors, we don't know.

After reading the messages in the group chat, Chen Zhiyao sent a few more emojis to tease her two best friends.

The three sisters chatted idly for a while, and Chen Zhiyao looked up at the time in the upper left corner; it was only eight o'clock.

She suddenly had a feeling that time seemed to slow down at home.

Out of boredom, Chen Zhiyao opened the novel she had been reading that afternoon. When she got to the exciting part, she boldly clicked on three free little gifts in a row.

However, after reading for a short while, I found that I had already reached the latest chapter, and I impatiently clicked the "urging for more updates" button several times.

Chen Zhiyao woke up really early in the morning. At 10 o'clock, she felt her eyelids getting heavy and then she yawned several times.

Chen Zhiyao rubbed her eyes and slowly walked up to the second floor. When she passed the balcony, she glanced outside and saw that it was pitch black all around, without a single ray of light. The wind and rain were still very strong.

It's likely to rain again tomorrow.

Thinking that she wouldn't have to get up early tomorrow, Chen Zhiyao turned off the alarm on her phone, intending to sleep soundly.
