Chen Zhiyao and Yan Shuting grabbed their beachcombing tools and rushed to the village's white sand beach.
The tide had just receded, and the beach was not flat, with winding streams forming in the low-lying areas.
There weren't many people there yet, so the mother and daughter quickly parked their car, grabbed their beachcombing tools, and headed towards the distant sea.

In the middle of the kelp, there is a small bulge, which is a thick, long strip.
Upon closer inspection, a small bottom was peeking out from the edge of the seaweed.
This thing is grayish-black and has some small fleshy spines; it's clearly a sea cucumber.
Chen Zhiyao lifted the seaweed and saw a large sea cucumber, about the size of a palm, lying underneath.
"This sea cucumber is quite good at hiding. What a pity it ran into me."
She had just finished collecting all the kelp and sea cucumbers when she turned around and noticed two small breathing holes where the kelp had been covering them.
Chen Zhiyao thought it was a cat's eye snail, but she didn't expect to dig out two plump white moon shells.
These two moon shells were only slightly smaller than her fist, and quite heavy; the two of them probably weighed five or six ounces.
