Chapter 69 Obstacles to Beachcombing

Mingyue nodded, "It's just the basics. Jiaojiao said I can use it to learn. If I understand this book, I should be able to master English."

Speaking of classic literature, Mingyue became quite interested, got up and climbed into bed, "Sister, this book is so good. Don't you think it would be great if I could become a novelist like Hugo?"

"So you were writing a novel just now?"

Mingyue blushed and nodded, "It's not really a novel, it's just that I got some inspiration from the love scenes in it. Sister, it's getting late, I'm going to sleep now."

The bright moon closed the window and blew out the lamp.

She was afraid that if they continued talking, Mingjing would find out that she was writing an explicit novel, which would be incredibly embarrassing.

Mingjing was delighted. If Mingyue truly had a talent for writing, she could nurture her towards a publishing house.

Back in his room, Mingjing's mobile phone suddenly rang. Unlike other mobile phones, mobile phones don't need to be charged and can be used as long as there is a signal. The only drawback is that they are bulky and not easy to carry.

"A clear mirror!"

An unfamiliar voice came from the other end of the phone. Mingjing asked suspiciously, "Who are you?"

"Bai Xiaoye, I've been discharged from the hospital and am now in Hong Kong. I got your phone number from my father. How have you been lately? Thank you for what happened last time."

"Okay, it's nothing serious. Your godfather has already thanked me on your behalf, so you don't need to thank me again. Is there something you need to call so late?"

Mingjing listened to the voice on the other end, which was calm and magnetic, and then she thought of that handsome face and felt a strange infatuation.

"It's nothing, I just wanted to ask if you want to come to Hong Kong. It's developing very well here. I know you've become my father's godfather, so you'll be my sister from now on. I can take care of you if you come here."

Mingjing found this statement strange and declined with a smile, saying, "That place is not something we poor bastards can aspire to, but I will definitely go back to visit if I have the chance."

As soon as he finished speaking, Bai Xiaoye heard his secretary's voice on the other end of the line, "Mr. Bai, the client is very dissatisfied with our toilet design and demands a new design within three days, or they will terminate the cooperation."

"Understood," Bai Xiaoye said sternly. "Tell the design department to produce a new plan as soon as possible, or they're fired!"

"Is it shaped like a toilet?" Mingjing asked curiously.

"No, regarding the toilet pipe design, Mingjing, you should really reconsider my suggestion. Hong Kong is definitely your best choice."

Mingjing thought for a moment, "I do have an idea about toilets. Would a U-shaped pipe be better? Do you know the siphon principle?"

There was a pause of several seconds on the other end. "Mingjing, your idea needs to be tested. I have other things to do. If possible, I will call you back to discuss the specifics."

Mingjing didn't even have time to reply before the call ended.

Discuss? She was just offering a suggestion.

Unable to figure it out, Mingjing didn't take it to heart and turned over to sleep.

In Hong Kong, Bai Xiaoye sat in the largest office building in Hong Kong, drinking coffee and thinking about Mingjing's words.

"Xiao Chen, go and have the design department design a U-shaped pipe, especially to figure out the siphon principle. I need to see the report by tomorrow afternoon."

Xiao Chen frowned. He had never heard of that kind of thing before. Was it too much to make all the employees work overtime?

"Why aren't you going yet? Is something wrong?"

"Mr. Bai, U-shaped pipes aren't available on the market either. Isn't it too rushed to give us a report tomorrow? Besides, this is a company matter; you shouldn't be talking to outsiders..."

"Who are you to interfere in my affairs? If you don't submit a report by tomorrow, you're all fired, including you!"

Xiao Chen lowered his head, responded, and turned to leave.

"Wait a minute." Bai Xiaoye called out to Xiao Chen, "Also, bring me the island investigation report again. I might have to go there again."

"yes."

Mingjing goes to bed late and gets up very early. She woke up at four o'clock, washed her face quickly, and opened the door. It was foggy and the air was a bit salty and humid.

Before her family got up, she grabbed some corn kernels from the windowsill and scattered them in the chicken coop, then rolled up her sleeves and started making breakfast.

A meal of dumplings with three kinds of seafood filling earns 500 points.

During a break from tending the fire, Mingjing glanced at her points; less than three thousand, and her rural progress bar had been back to square one.

She sighed and closed the fishing tackle shop.

Fortunately, the beachcombing tools are still there. As long as they are used continuously, the luck value will increase. This is the experience that Mingjing has gained in the past few days.

She hasn't earned many points lately, but with her beachcombing tools, she has fifty or sixty luck points, which means she can at least find crabs or something at the beach.

If she could get a high-scoring piece of equipment, she could practically live a life of ease, getting lucky points every day without having to work. Unfortunately, she's not strong enough right now.

Just as the dumplings were put into the pot, Mingjing heard a noise at the door. Thinking it was the villagers spying on her again, she was about to go out and yell at them when she saw it was Sun Jiaojiao and Sun Yanyan.

"Why are you here?"

Sun Jiaojiao lowered her head and said weakly, "My dad told us to come and go beachcombing with you."

"Sister, can we come in?" Sun Yanyan asked, sounding much more lively.

The two were three years younger than Mingjing, and their two dark eyes shone brightly, like those of a weasel.

"Come on, I just cooked some dumplings, let's eat together," Mingjing said, pulling the two into the courtyard and closing the door behind them.

Hearing the commotion, Sun Yunmei went out to see what was happening and exclaimed in surprise, "What brings you two here?"

“My dad told us to come with Sister Mingjing to go beachcombing. We’ll be relying on Auntie from now on,” Sun Yanyan said with a grin.

"You're just here to freeload, aren't you?" Mingliang stretched and walked out of the house, looking at the two of them. The more he looked at them, the more they resembled weasels.

Sun Yunmei lightly patted Mingliang's head, "What nonsense are you talking about! Wash your hands and eat!"

Sun Jiaojiao, sitting on the stool, lowered her head, her eyes glaring at Mingliang out of the corner of her eye.

Her parents told her to come to Mingjing to learn skills, and to just bear with it for now, so that she wouldn't have to suffer this humiliation after she finished learning the skills.

"Mingjing, are you going to go beachcombing today?" Sun Yunmei looked up at the sky, which was overcast and looked like it was going to rain.

"Going beachcombing, the weather's nice today."

Mingjing figured that there weren't many people going to the beach when it rained, so that was her domain.

“Then Jiaojiao and Yanyan will go with you. Take good care of your sister. Mingliang and Mingyue, you two go and see if you can find any sea cucumbers. Leilei loves them the most.”

"When is Leilei coming?" Mingyue asked, leaning against the window.

"I don't know, maybe in the next few days. Prepare some good food. Your dad and I will go to town later to buy more melon seeds, candies, fruits, and pears. Otherwise, we'll go beachcombing too."

Sun Yunmei wanted to use this opportunity to keep her grandson for good; how could the Ming family's bloodline be left to be raised by someone else?

"Okay then, hurry up and eat, then we'll go."

Mingjing has a big appetite, so she made a whole pot of dumplings.

After finishing their meal, the group took their beachcombing tools and headed to the beach.

Fortunately, there were many people in the Ming family. Bai Jiwen had left a few behind before. Some of them had sand shovels, some had tongs, and some had sleds.

Thick, dark clouds hung in the sky. She put on a black raincoat, buttoned it up, and set off.

As soon as they stepped out the door, the men who had been keeping watch at the entrance ran back home.

Mingjing assumed she had run away because she was afraid of being scolded, so she didn't pay much attention.

Before she had gone far, Mingjing noticed that more and more people were following behind her.

"Going to Mingjing for beachcombing?"

"Can I come with you?"

“I’m not following you. I also have to go beachcombing. The ocean belongs to everyone.”

One by one, carrying buckets, they stepped forward to sandwich Mingjing in the middle; if you didn't know better, you'd think it was a demonstration.

"What are you doing?" Mingyue cursed angrily after being stepped on.

"Mingyue, your Ming family is the richest in the village now. Why not share the joy instead of keeping it to yourself? Why not help us out?"

"That Song Laosan can earn two or three thousand in one go, can you say it's not because of you guys?"

"That's right, we should all get rich together. We've been following Mingjing for days, and you have to take us to the beach today no matter what."

"Sister, we're family. You can't just take the Sun family and leave us out," Mingzhu said, panting as she ran with Ming Xingwang's family, carrying a bucket.

Mingjing cursed inwardly. Her luck was already bad, so what could she possibly gain by bringing so many people with her?
