Chapter 15 Saving a Handsome Man

Before dawn, Mingjing left empty-handed, saying, "I'm leaving."

Before Mingyue could even say hello, she looked up and saw that he was gone.

A wooden fishing boat was moored at the dock, and Ming Dashan and his family were tidying up the fishing nets and rods on the shore.

"Second Uncle, can we go now?"

Ming Dashan's eldest son, Ming Xingwang, glanced at Ming Jing and sneered, "Trying to cause trouble."

"Hmm." Ming Dashan was startled. After a while, he pulled the fishing net back to the boat and responded coldly.

Ming Xingwang is Ming Dashan's eldest son and Mingzhu's biological father. He's a typical "daddy's boy." Mingjing didn't want to say much more and boarded the ship first.

Besides Ming Lao Er's family, a group of fishermen who had gone out to sea were also gathered on the boat.

As dawn broke and the oars of the wooden boat stirred up a white wave, Mingjing stood on the deck, facing the salty sea breeze, watching herself get further and further away from the dock, and her heart was filled with excitement.

For some reason, she always felt afraid when she saw the turbulent sea, and she would involuntarily take a few steps back before she felt at ease.

The sun gradually rose above the sea, turning half the sky red.

Mingyue sat on the deck, silently admiring the beautiful scenery.

This fishing trip took place in the deep sea, where the surface was a dark, almost blackish blue.

The boat moved very slowly, with foam tied to the hundreds-of-meters-long fishing net. Ming Dashan took the net and threw it into the sea at intervals.

Upon hearing that Ming Jing had caught a big fish last time, Ming Xingwang and Ming Dashan exchanged glances.

Ming Dashan threw out all the fishing nets in his hands, turned his head and saw that Ming Jing had not yet made a move to go into the sea, and urged her on impatiently.

"Mingjing, there are plenty of big fish in this area. Why don't you go down and take a look? I have a fishing rod here. What's the point of you just standing there?"

Ming Dashan said with a grin, "I had my suspicions when the girl caught a giant fish in Mingjing Sea last time. This time, I'm determined to see for myself how she catches fish."

Mingjing glanced at the fishing rod leaning against the corner of the deck. It was a cheap bamboo rod that looked like it hadn't been used for a long time and was covered in a layer of dust. It was barely good enough to catch some small fish.

Fishing boats go out to sea and spend the night at sea, getting up early the next morning to haul in the nets – this is the usual practice of fishermen.

She could only take out her treasures when it was quiet at night, which was a good way to conceal them from others.

Mingjing picked up the fishing rod, and Mingxingwang, feigning generosity, handed her a set of fishing line and hooks.

Deep-sea fishing often uses double hooks, which makes it easier to catch larger fish. Fish traps with bait are usually tied to the top of the hooks.

To make Mingjing look foolish, Mingxingwang deliberately gave her a ten-meter fishing line and pointed to the water tank next to the deck, telling her that there were sardines inside.

Mingjing didn't bother to argue. He caught a sardine on the hook, and the fishing line flew in a perfect parabola before falling into the sea.

"Mingjing, how did you catch those big yellow croakers? Tell your brother, we're all family, you can't hide it from me."

"They caught it in the sea, Uncle. Why don't you go down and take a look? Maybe there's a big catch."

It wasn't a big one; she had just seen a sharp-nosed shark chasing their boat. If the boat hadn't been so big, they would all be fish food by now.

Ming Xingwang glanced down at the sea, swallowed hard, and chuckled, "Mingjing just loves to joke."

As soon as he finished speaking, the fish tank in Ming Xingwang's hand began to shake. "Wow, such a big fish right after we arrived."

Upon hearing that there was a big fish, the fishermen got excited and rushed over to help.

Ming Xingwang had an ordinary fishing rod, but it was much better than Ming Jing's. The others helped Ming Xingwang pull the fish up.

"It's coming out soon!"

Ming Xingwang, his face flushed red, pulled on the fishing rod. Finally, the inky black seawater stirred, rippling with waves.

"Oh my, it's a swordfish, and quite big!" Ming Dashan said, holding a landing net and peering down, his face full of pride.

"Mingjing, you'd better keep up the good work, or your family will starve."

Mingjing glanced at the swordfish. Its nose was like a thin needle, its body was long and slender, and it was still on the deck, shimmering. Its flesh was firm and weighed at least three or four pounds.

Swordfish are notoriously difficult to catch and command high prices.

After admiring the swordfish for a while, Ming Dashan threw it into the tank; live fish are more valuable.

After that, Ming Xingwang's fishing rod never stopped. He caught sea bream, seven-star fish, turbot, and the most expensive was a grouper, which weighed more than eight pounds.

Mingjing glanced indifferently at the smug Ming Xingwang, suppressing the fire in her heart.

Although she was hiding her strength, Ming Xingwang's smug and obnoxious manner really infuriated her.

But she can't use the system now, so it's no wonder she can't catch any fish with this small sloping rod.

Half an hour later, Mingjing slowly lifted the rod. Half of the sardine on the hook had been eaten, clearly the work of small fish and shrimp.

Mingjing sighed inwardly. It seemed that all her luck in this life depended on the system, and she had no chance on her own.

"I'm done, it's no fun anymore," Ming Xingwang said, putting away his fishing rod and sitting smugly on the deck.

Taking the opportunity, Ming Dashan teased, "Mingjing, you're still too green. Xingwang is an old fisherman, skilled in his craft. He'll give you a few of these fish later."

The blatant contempt was something Mingjing couldn't refute, and she felt incredibly bitter inside.

"Mingjing, I heard you sold the big yellow croaker to Old Zhao for a pittance. Are you still thinking about Zhao Dali? Should your uncles go and propose marriage to you?"

The speaker was Wang Duoyu, the island's gossip king. There was no gossip he didn't know, and he usually didn't hold back when he spoke.

Three or five people huddled together on the boat, with kerosene lamps beside them, drinking their homemade rice wine, smoking and chatting idly.

"Uncle Wang, your son is quite good too. How old is he again this year?"

Mingjing deliberately asked a question, and Wang Duoyu was speechless for a moment, causing everyone to burst into laughter.

Women have always been prone to trouble, especially beautiful women like Mingjing. Wang Duoyu didn't want any unrest at home, so he could only shut his mouth and give an awkward smile.

On the deck, everyone was well-fed and relaxed, enjoying the sea breeze and chatting about everyday life.

Black waves crashed against the hull and the rocks, and the salty sea breeze stirred Mingjing's desire to go into the sea.

She composed herself, turned to return to the cabin, and glanced into the distance where a beam of light appeared on the dark sea.

Mingjing assumed they were fishing boats like theirs, as there were many fishermen in this area and it was a necessary route for merchants.

"Dashan, look at that boat, something's not right," fisherman Wang Duoyu said, squinting at the distance.

The ship was moving at a constant speed, which is unusual for nighttime.

The light flashed quickly past Mingjing's fishing boat. Just as Mingjing was about to turn around, she caught a glimpse of light out of the corner of her eye and turned her head to look.

In a sudden flash of light, a burly man carried a person and threw them into the water.

Mingjing stood there, stunned.

As the fishing boat passed by, Mingjing could clearly see a person struggling in the water.

Mingjing casually picked up a swimming ring hanging on the boat and put it on. "Second Uncle, pull tight. I'm going to save him. If I die, I'll haunt you even as a ghost."

She could move freely underwater, but that person couldn't; she couldn't just stand by and watch him die.

Fortunately, the fishing boat had gone far away, and they weren't going very fast. The waves were calm. Taking a deep breath, Mingjing grabbed the hull with both hands and jumped in.

The seawater was pitch black, without a single ray of light, but Mingjing saw a bright light in front of her, and her legs seemed to have grown fish tails, allowing her to swim extremely fast.

In less than a minute, she grabbed the man's hair, then took off her swim ring, put it on him, and swam back with him.

Ming Dashan, who was on the boat, was terrified and shouted, "Mingjing, are you out of your mind?!"
