Chapter 23 Lifting the Siege

"Nonsense! You blind brat, call my daughter out here, and I'll have her expel you. I'm her own mother!"

After saying that, the old lady stretched her neck and shouted inside, "Hao Jianmei! It's no use hiding, you unfilial daughter, let's see how long you can hide!"

Mingjing sat in the car listening to the argument, feeling anxious.

It was so hot that even in the evening it felt like a furnace outside. Fruit doesn't keep well, and Mingjing was worried that if she waited any longer, the fruit would wilt and become difficult to sell.

She got out of the car and walked towards the crowd.

"How long has it been?" Mingjing asked anxiously.

"It's been over twenty minutes, and this old lady still won't budge. There are so many people queuing up behind her, and we're about to close up shop. If she doesn't take it, all my fruit will definitely rot," the old man worriedly said.

He bought bananas, which wilted after being exposed to the sun and will be worth even less in a while.

Hearing that they wouldn't accept fruit after get off work, Mingjing became scared. She was at the back of the line, and even if she stopped making a fuss, she might not get a turn.

Why hasn't the factory owner arrived yet?

"This old lady comes every day. She says she is the factory owner's biological mother. I heard that when the owner was a child, this old lady favored boys over girls and was biased towards her eldest son. She bought him a car and a house."

She even made her daughter sell herself to earn a dowry for her son's marriage. Later, she sold the old house and planned to ask her son to support her in her old age. Unfortunately, her son and daughter-in-law died due to gambling debts, leaving behind a grandson. Only then did she remember her daughter. Do you think this daughter can still recognize her as her mother? The old man sighed.

"So she got married?"

The old man shook his head. "I don't know. How would we know about the big boss's affairs? We just heard the old lady muttering about it."

Mingjing rolled her eyes, turned around and went back to the car to whisper a few words to Huang Daguang.

"That won't do. You're really brave."

"It has to be done, or you'll just have to wait here."

Huang Daguang frowned, wiping the sweat from his brow. It was already dark, and the road back was difficult to navigate; he might even have to spend more money on a hotel. With a determined look, he honked the horn, and the crowd automatically dispersed and drove forward.

Beep beep!

Everyone watched the approaching car without daring to utter a sound. Mingjing got out of the car, strode forward, and sneered, "Oh, the old lady is here again. That woman still ignored you?"

After finishing speaking, Mingjing looked at the saleswoman and continued, "Tell that woman that our boss said the divorce is final and she should hand over the factory immediately, or I won't be polite."

She unbuttoned her collar, letting her high ponytail fall over her shoulders. Already possessing a captivating beauty, she became even more alluring as she tossed her hair aside.

He winked at the saleswoman, who was quick-witted and immediately understood that he was her savior.

Thinking of this, she quickly said smugly, "Secretary Chen, our boss isn't here, and the divorce should be handled by your boss himself. Who are you to inform him?"

Several old men nearby listened to the gossip, sized up Mingjing, and curled their lips. "This young girl is so young, yet she's meddling in other people's family affairs. Isn't she ashamed?"

It seems she had something going on with their boss; men, what man doesn't stray?

"Our boss sent us here. Let me tell you, she seduced our boss to open this factory for her. Now that the boss is tired of her and wants to take the factory back, she has to give it to him."

They're husband and wife, after all. They should know better than to hand over the factory; otherwise, we won't be so polite.

After Mingjing finished speaking, she turned around, glanced at the bamboo basket on the ground, and kicked it away.

The loquats rolled all over the ground, startling the old lady so much that she didn't dare to breathe.

Mingjing turned to Huang Daguang and said coldly, "Go, drive everyone out of here. If we don't get the factory, she won't have a good time either!"

"Hey, who are you people?" The old men were so frightened that they took a few steps back, shrinking back and not daring to speak.

Huang Daguang shouted, "Get out of here! Otherwise, I'll trample all your fruit and see how you sell it!"

I must say, Huang Daguang really does convincingly play a bad guy.

He winked at a few old men, who, whether they understood or not, turned and ran off with their flatbed cart.

Mingjing snorted coldly, stomping hard on the loquats, and glanced at the man selling peaches next to her. "What are you looking at? You want to sell some too?"

She winked at her older brother, who immediately understood and hurriedly said, "Hey, ma'am, aren't you the factory manager's mother? Say something!"

The old woman was so frightened that she quickly waved her hands, "No, I don't know, I don't know when she got married, she's not my daughter, I don't know."

The old lady ignored the rope holding her grandson and turned to leave.

He was old and frail, and hadn't gone two steps before Mingjing caught up with him.

"You're her mother? That makes things easier. Let your daughter come out, give the factory to our boss, get the divorce certificate, and oh, return all the money the boss has given her over the years."

The saleswoman saw the old lady's terrified expression, her face flushed red, and she turned away to chuckle.

The old woman trembled with fear, clutching her grandson and saying, "I...I don't know. I just wanted to take advantage of her. I don't have this daughter. Don't look for me."

Playing along to the end, the saleswoman cooperated, "Hey, you old lady, you used to come every day, why are you denying it today? You clearly are the one."

"I can't make that decision; you should talk to her."

"What? You'd disown your own daughter for a little money?" Mingjing sneered.

The old woman shook her head, waved her hand hurriedly, and walked back, saying, "I don't know, I'm not selling it anymore. What daughter? I don't have a daughter."

Mingjing nodded slightly. "Stop! Give me your grandson. I refuse to believe that woman doesn't care whether he lives or dies! Da Guang!"

Upon hearing this, Huang Daguang pretended to grab the child, and the old lady was so frightened that she trembled and turned to run away with her grandson.

"Stop!" Mingjing shouted.

The more she shouted, the faster the old woman ran, and she disappeared in no time.

As the person ran away, the saleswoman breathed a sigh of relief. "Young lady, you acted so well just now, I almost fell for your act."

"You can't be nice to a scoundrel like that. Sis, you're beautiful and gentle, so don't let anyone bully you next time."

A kind and gentle compliment made the saleswoman feel very happy.

Being sweet-talking and good at getting things done will never be a disadvantage in any era.

Behind him, Huang Daguang couldn't help but look at Mingjing with new respect; he hadn't expected Mingjing to be so capable.

Previously, he had heard that Mingjing was a rich girl from a big city, beautiful and sweet-talking, who could charm all the men in the village, from eighty to three years old.

Now it seems that was absolutely true; she really is a rich girl from a big city, she's just different from them.

"Thank you. The boss isn't here today, but when she comes back, I'll make sure she praises you, and I'll give you a better price next time you come."

The saleswoman smiled, turned around, went inside, and took two bottles of Coca-Cola.

Huang Daguang was stunned. He had been to the factory eight hundred times, but this was the first time he had ever drunk Coca-Cola.

"Thank you, sister." Mingjing took the peach, unscrewed it, and took a sip. "Don't bother next time. I have a whole truckload of wild peaches here. You can decide the price. I haven't even picked any."

Huang Daguang tactfully unloaded two large baskets of yellow peaches from the car. The peaches were big and red, and looked quite tempting.

"Yes, peaches are 30 cents a pound now, and your peaches are quite big."

The saleswoman picked one up and examined it for a while. Then she took a knife and cut it open, letting the juice flow out. She dipped her finger in the peach juice and licked it.
