Chapter 196 Earning a Million a Day

Mingjing pretended to be hesitant and nodded, "Boss is a very kind person, so let's go with this price."

Ming Dahai and Ming Liang stared wide-eyed, wondering if they had misheard. How could a small piece of broken tree branch be worth so much?

He remembered there were quite a few of these things in the sea, and sometimes he would just throw them away as trash after hauling them up. Thinking about it now, he was filled with regret, realizing he might have thrown away tens of millions of dollars worth of them.

The shopkeeper was writing down the bill when he handed it to Mingjing. "Miss, do you think there's anything wrong with this bill?"

Mingjing nodded. The boss's handwriting was elegant, adhering to the writing style of writing from left to right and from top to bottom, and he even signed the date at the end.

Both parties signed and affixed their fingerprints, and the matter was considered settled.

With a press of the calculator, it reads, "Reset to zero, two million eighty-three thousand five hundred yuan."

"Young lady, I don't have that much money in the shop right now. Come with me to the bank to transfer some."

Mingjing nodded, and the boss had the items put into the warehouse before taking a few people to the bank to withdraw money.

After withdrawing the money, Mingjing divided it in half and transferred it into the family savings account, while depositing the other half into her own bank card.

After transferring the money, Mingjing parted ways with the boss, promising to give him something nice next time.

Upon arriving in the town, Mingjing was in a good mood. She stumbled upon a fresh food market and bought a pair of ribs and some chicken and duck to celebrate properly that evening. She also bought a few piglets.

When Sun Yunmei got home, she was so happy to hear that she had earned two million that she almost fainted.

That evening, Mingjing personally cooked a delicious meal, and her points increased significantly.

During the meal, Sun Yunmei talked about the construction team. The road construction team had already started work, and Lao Wang was watching over it every day. The construction was just reaching the door of the new house.

The new house is starting to take shape, and in a few months, we'll be able to paint it and move in.

The family ate and drank until midnight before finally parting ways.

Before dawn, Mingliang was sound asleep when he was woken up by Mingdahai.

"Mingjing, get up quickly, we're going out to sea today."

Mingjing rubbed his eyes, propped himself up with his hands, and looked outside; it was pitch black.

"It's four o'clock. This typhoon wasn't as fierce as the last one. It's already gone. Everyone's gone to the beach. We can't fall behind."

Mingjing sighed. She had earned two million yesterday and didn't even want to go to sea. She just wanted to rest and relax. Why did someone still want to go to work?

"knew."

Mingjing reluctantly got up, brushed her teeth, and washed her face.

In the kitchen, Sun Yunmei brought out a pot of steaming dumplings. "Eat quickly, they're mackerel dumplings."

"Mom, when did you get up? We'd like to have a refrigerator at home, so please pack more food and don't get up so early next time."

"It's okay. Your dad didn't sleep all night waiting for the wind to stop. I couldn't sleep either, I was just bored."

Sun Yunmei served Mingjing a bowl of dumplings, while Ming Dahai was busy packing things at the door.

After eating and drinking to their hearts' content, Mingjing went aboard the yacht. The wind had indeed subsided considerably, but the boat was still rocking violently, and there were no other boats around.

On the boat, Mingjing and Mingliang yawned as they stuffed bait into the fish traps, throwing them into the mangroves whenever they encountered them. By the time they finished, it was already broad daylight.

The sea breeze was weaker than before, but it still made the boat rock violently.

"Dad, let's go check out the nearshore area today."

Mingjing thought the shallows were uninteresting, and that there might be a big catch closer to shore.

Before coming here, Mingjing glanced at his fishing tackle shop and found that he had accumulated 23,000 points and had a luck value of 300. He was sure to have a big catch today.

Ming Dahai hadn't slept all night and was yawning as he sailed the boat.

"Dad, let me drive. Don't squint while driving." Mingliang saw that Minghai had to keep his eyes closed several times and was afraid something would happen.

"Then you take over the helm. When will your seaman's notice be issued?"

Ming Dahai stepped aside from the driver's seat and asked a question.

“The accident will happen in the next day or two. I left my phone number,” Mingliang said as he steered the boat.

After casting their line in the nearshore waters, about a kilometer or two away, the two decided to find another small island to go beachcombing.

The waves are too big to go fishing today. Ming Dahai felt a surge of joy as he recalled their catch during the last typhoon.

Just then, a white mist suddenly appeared on the sea, obscuring the road ahead, and Mingliang didn't know which way to steer the boat in his hands.

"Dad, why is there sea fog all of a sudden?" Mingliang asked, a little flustered.

Sea fog usually only appears in the morning, and its appearance now is making people uneasy.

"Could it be a sea monster?"

There is a legend at sea that whenever fog rises at sea, there will surely be dangerous monsters around.

"Nonsense!" Ming Dahai scolded, pulling the boat away from Mingliang and taking the helm himself, silently praying for the protection of the Sea Goddess.

Mingjing looked around shrewdly, and suddenly a melodious song rang out from all around, ethereal and clear.

After an unknown amount of time, the singing guided the yacht slowly away from the fog.

Mingjing breathed a sigh of relief and was about to speak when she caught a glimpse of silver out of the corner of her eye.

She frowned; she was quite far away and couldn't see clearly.

"Dad, slow down the boat and keep going."

As the ship drew closer to that silvery figure, Mingjing's eyes widened, her senses tingling.

After a moment, Mingliang nudged her, "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and fish it out!"

Mingjing snapped out of her daze and turned to get the landing net. Mingdahai stopped the boat and said urgently, "The landing net won't work. Get the casting net."

"Oh, oh," Mingjing was completely flustered at this moment, and turned to get the throwing net.

Bright, tense hands gripped the railing. "Is it a ribbonfish?"

"It doesn't look like it, it looks more like a silverfish."

Both silverfish and ribbonfish are silvery in the water, making them difficult to see clearly. However, they appear to be quite plump, with the largest being only a dozen centimeters long, and do not look like ribbonfish.

"Silverfish is good too, I've made a fortune today."

Ming Dahai took the hand-thrown net and quickly cast it into the sea.

On the other side, Mingliang quietly set sail towards the school of fish.

The fish swam in large groups, and when the net was cast, they scattered and fled.

"Quickly pull it up and take a look."

Ming Dahai was overjoyed and gritted his teeth as he reeled in the line.

When the fishing net was pulled up, Mingliang stopped the boat and came over to retrieve it. Mingjing saw what was in the net and sighed, "It's not ribbonfish, it's silverfish."

"That's still valuable. This net has at least 100 kilograms, worth at least several hundred yuan."

Ming Dahai doesn't care how much money he makes; as long as there's something to earn, he's not picky.

Silverfish are social animals and often gather together. Even if they are scattered, they will regroup, since their memory only lasts seven seconds.

Silverfish were pulled up, and Mingjing picked them out on the deck, while Mingdahai continued to cast his net.

"Mingliang, don't change direction, keep chasing the fish, these silverfish are very valuable."

Silverfish, also known as whitebait, are small fish that live in the nearshore waters of estuaries or where freshwater meets the sea. They like to gather in groups and mainly feed on plankton.

The local silverfish are mainly fried and used in soups, and they have high economic value.

Mingjing bent down to sort through the fish. There were so many silverfish that her back ached. As she pushed through the school of fish, a huge grouper appeared, much to her delight.

Silverfish also become food for other marine creatures; Mingjing often finds grouper and stingrays.

Even though the sun was high in the sky and the ocean was still steaming in October, Mingjing felt her face burning even while wearing a facekini.

Ming Dahai kept casting the net until his back was so sore he could barely straighten up.

"Dad, you take a break and drive the boat. Mingjing and I will collect the fish. There are too many, and we can't fit them all in the boat."

Ming Dahai agreed, pulled up the last net of fish, and laboriously tossed it onto the deck.

"Hey, there's a big sea turtle." Mingliang looked up and saw a sea turtle lying in the net.

Mingjing got up and pulled out the fishing net, pulling out a sea turtle. It was green all over, and its shell looked at least a hundred years old. It was covered with barnacles, so densely packed that it gave her a phobia.
