Chapter 65 Making a Fortune

The group immediately agreed, and Mingjing arranged for them to sit at different tables, a total of four tables, with Dong Li standing in the middle.

Mingjing handed out paper and pens to everyone and walked around the room like a proctor, watching the people bid.

The group stood there holding paper and pens, lost in thought for a long time, their furrowed brows so deep they could have crushed a mosquito.

They looked left and right, occasionally making noises to try and find out the prices of others, but Mingjing stopped them.

There were three rounds in total. In each round, Xie Junan would collect the papers and quote prices on the spot. After the prices were quoted, the participants would fill in the prices.

After three rounds, Xie Junan, holding the price list, announced loudly, "The buyer for the grouper has appeared, and he is..."

"Who is it? Tell me quickly, I'm so anxious!"

Xie Junan deliberately paused for a few seconds, making the others almost jump up in anxiety.

Just as Xie Junan mouthed something, Old Wang said anxiously, "Wait a minute, I'll raise the price, I'll raise the price."

"That won't do. You have three chances, Uncle Wang. You can't catch a wolf without risking your cub. You can't change your ways."

Xie Junan believed that the current price was already above the market price, and any higher might attract the police. Moreover, it wouldn't make much difference whether Lao Wang changed the price or not, because the difference between the price and the buyer's price was too great.

"It's a three-wheeled vehicle, Lao Wang, you can't break your promise."

The group could tell from Old Wang's expression that he had underestimated the chances and was secretly overjoyed.

"Credit is nothing! I might not even encounter a grouper that big again, even if I lived another five hundred years!" Old Wang was furious.

Mingjing stood aside and nodded, indicating that this made sense. She had never seen such a large grouper in her previous life, and it was indeed a rare occurrence.

But nothing could be changed, so Old Wang could only sigh and sit down to see who had taken the grouper.

"The buyer of this grouper is Mr. Liu, and the price is 98,888."

"Wow, this is amazing! Thank God, Amen!" Liu Guangyao excitedly clasped his hands together in gratitude to Jesus.

The others were incredibly envious; the CEO of Guanshan Group was truly extravagant, actually willing to spend 60,000 yuan on a fish.

When Mingjing heard this news, she almost couldn't believe her eyes. Nearly 70,000 yuan—was she suddenly rich overnight?

"Ninety-eight thousand..." Mingliang was stunned for several seconds before he reacted, turning his head to stare blankly at Mingjing, "Mingjing, did I hear that right?"

Dong Li clenched his fists tightly, suppressing his excitement, and said, "Boss, let me introduce you. This is the contributor to our grouper; she's the one who caught it."

"Let's just consider this as making friends. Her name is Mingjing."

Upon hearing this, the group immediately looked Mingjing up and down, nodding in satisfaction and saying in unison.

"Little girl, you're Hao Louhai. Next time you have something good, you must come to me. This cousin of yours is really wicked."

"Don't listen to his nonsense. Find me, young lady. This is my business card. I'm Wei Jinming. I specialize in buying seafood. I'm the kingpin of the seafood market."

"Looking for me, young lady? This is my business card. I'm the big boss of Huangting Hotel. I can take as much seafood as you want."

As soon as Dong Li showed his business card to Ming Jing, he instantly regretted it.

I don't know if this counts as poaching my own employees.

After accepting the business card, Mingjing smiled and made a few perfunctory remarks. Dong Li changed the subject, "It's getting late, everyone. How about we catch up? It's on me."

"You son of a bitch!"

"No time, I'm furious!"

"Screw you! You've accomplished nothing and wasted your time."

The group walked out grumbling, and Xie Jun'an's eyes lit up as he said, "Bosses, wait a minute. How can we let you come all this way for nothing? We're not being unreasonable."

"Mingjing, Dad, you two hurry up and get me some good cigarettes, and also some oysters, crabs, and sea cucumbers to pack up. Make sure they're the best."

Mingjing nodded. As expected of a businessman's son, he has high emotional intelligence and never suffers a loss, but his conduct is lacking.

Men can't resist the charms of beautiful women.

Mingjing and Dongli packed several bags of sea cucumbers, oysters, and large crabs for the group, saying, "Take these back and try them. If you like them, come back again. These are very nutritious."

"Young boss, we've only eaten here a few times. How can we ask you for something empty-handed?"

"Hey, you're the big bosses, it's my honor to have your things. It's my fault for not satisfying you today. Mingjing and we are just business partners."

Next time I find something good, I'll definitely tell you. It's just a small thing, nothing valuable, consider it a token of friendship.

"Okay, I see your abalone is big, it must be wild, right? Pack me five pounds, my wife loves braised pork with abalone."

Mr. Liu was very angry just now, but he's calmed down now.

"You can tell Mr. Liu is a good husband who loves his wife dearly. No wonder he's so rich," Mingjing said with a smile, turning around to weigh the abalone in a plastic bag.

After he said that, the others got excited and all said they wanted the abalone and oysters to take back to their wives. Dong Li smiled and paid the bill for everyone.

After seeing the big boss off, Dong Li turned to look at Liu Guangyao. Unlike the others who were given seafood, he mysteriously took out a jar filled with yellow liquid.

"Mr. Liu, please take this."

"What is this?" Liu Guangyao asked curiously.

"Seahorse wine, I know you recently married a beautiful new wife. Seahorses are a good thing, so I'm giving it to you. Happy marriage."

Dong Li stuffed the jar into Liu Guangyao's hand.

"Oh, I can't accept this," Liu Guangyao declined, his face beaming with joy.

"A little drink in the evening, a moment of spring night is worth a thousand pieces of gold, a man can't say no," Dong Li said with a smile.

Liu Guangyao grinned, "Thank you, Boss Dong. Congratulations on your fortune."

He took out his wallet, and because the amount was too large, he took out a check and handed it to Dong Li, asking him to cash it at the bank.

"Alright, I'm taking my baby home to enjoy life now."

Liu Guangyao made a phone call and had his men bring a huge fish tank in a truck. The tank was filled with seawater, and the grouper was placed inside to provide oxygen for the fish.

Several people were lying on the edge of the fish tank, using plastic tubes to breathe oxygen through their mouths.

"Be careful on the road!"

After seeing Liu Guangyao off, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Uncle Dong, you're amazing!" Mingjing praised sincerely.

"Hey, that's all from experience. You're smart, though. My son would never have come up with that."

Dong Li led the two back into the house.

"How will the money be divided?" Mingliang still couldn't believe it and asked anxiously.

Dong Li smiled, took out the ledger from this morning, and began to calculate the accounts. "The weight of the seafood from this morning is all here. I've calculated it."

The total is 10,220. Junan told me that I get 30,000 and you get 70,000, so you get 69,221, which is 69,200.

Including the sea goods, the total is 79,440.

Dong Li tapped away on the calculator, showing Mingjing the whole number, but since it was a check, Mingjing had to wait there while Xie Jun'an went to the bank to cash it.

The whole afternoon was spent exchanging a large sum of cash, with complicated procedures. It was almost evening when Mingjing finally got the cash, which Dong Li packed into a black suitcase.

The flatbed truck had already been taken home by Ming Dahai, and Xie Junan drove Mingjing and Mingliang to the dock to take a boat.

Back home, Mingdahai was drying rice in the yard. Mingyue sat in the yard watching the chickens and ducks not to waste the grain, and looked longingly towards the door.

"Why hasn't my sister come back yet? I wonder how she is doing."

Sun Yunmei reheated the food that Ming Dahai had packed back, glanced at the doorway, and said, "It should be ready soon. Look, it's already dark."

Just then, Mingjing and Mingliang came in carrying buckets of water.

"Sister, you're back!" Mingyue stood up and said happily.

"Mom and Dad, give me some water, I'm so thirsty." Mingliang was exhausted and threw down the water bucket to sit in the yard.

Mingjing licked his chapped lips, his head covered in sweat from the heat, and lay down by the well, scooped up a ladle of tap water, and gulped it down.

This weather is awful! The sun is almost setting, and it's still so hot.

"Hey, tap water isn't clean!" Sun Yunmei was about to dissuade her when Mingjing had already drunk most of it. Feeling comfortable, she took a breath and handed the bag to Sun Yunmei.
