Chapter 73 Setting Up the Game

Upon hearing that Mingjing was introduced by Dong Li, her attitude became more enthusiastic.

"Sit down. I heard from Dong Li that you can catch big shipments. How many?" Song Renren brought over a cup of tea and poured it for him.

“There’s quite a lot. I was thinking of going beachcombing and collecting seafood at the same time. You have the resources and I have the goods. Let’s cooperate and achieve a win-win situation.”

Mingjing presented a high-grade ginseng, and Songren said with a smile, "Dongli told you, didn't he? You're so young, and you've gone to so much trouble for me. Please have a seat."

"It's nothing, it's nothing. Sister Song, you're younger than I thought, thirty years old, right?"

Mingjing sat down and accepted the green tea that Song Renren handed over.

"You're quite the smooth talker. I'm forty-five this year, young lady. I heard from Dong Li that you're young but capable of catching big shipments?"

"You're being modest. I do have large quantities of goods. I'm thinking of opening a purchasing station, where I can collect goods while going out to sea. If I have too much stock, I'll need to find restaurants to handle it."

"My restaurant is famous for its sea cucumbers. All the customers come here specifically for them, so if you have any, just send them over. We can discuss the price."

Song Renli took a sip of green tea and looked Mingjing up and down. "How old are you? You're doing business on your own. You're quite capable."

"I'm eighteen this year, Sister Song. Can you help me find some more people? I have a large volume of goods, and I'm afraid one company won't be able to handle it all."

Mingjing was thinking of opening a purchasing point, since there would be a lot of seafood in the future. The few places he had on hand might not be enough, so he needed to find a few more as backups, so he could compare prices.

"I heard from Dong Li that you're quite capable; that grouper sold really well last time," Song Renli said, taking out his phone, tapping the old-fashioned mobile phone with his red fingernail a few times, and then holding it to his ear.

"Hey guys, you've got some free time today, let's get together. I'd like to introduce you to a business opportunity."

After hanging up the phone, Song Renli raised an eyebrow. "These are all seafood restaurants and seafood markets in the city. Be sweet-talking them later. Dong Li introduced them, so I'll definitely protect you."

Dong Li had helped her a lot when she opened the hotel, and she had to repay that favor.

Mingjing followed Song Renli to the private room to wait for the people to arrive. After a while, four men and one woman sat down.

Once the food and drinks were served, Song Ren introduced the identities of both parties.

"This is the business I was telling you about. Mingjing, she's the one who caught that grouper last time, and she made a lot of money from it. This time she's going to supply us, so please consider her."

"Mingjing, this is Mr. Zhao from Tiantianxian Restaurant, that's Mr. Li from Rixin Restaurant, Mr. Fang from Haozailai Restaurant, Mr. Zhao from Hongse Seafood Restaurant, and Mr. Xia who is with you."

Song Ren introduced each restaurant in detail, and then described each restaurant's signature dish and the "Mingjing" (a type of jewel).

The sensible Mingjing toasted everyone, saying polite words, displaying the seasoned demeanor of someone who had navigated the business world and social circles with ease. Everyone praised her highly.

During the meal, Mingjing talked to the others about how to go beachcombing and catch big fish, and how to set traps and nets. The others listened with wide eyes and expressed their desire to see Mingjing go beachcombing with their own eyes.

Xia Chang'an immediately said, "Hey, I happen to have a boat at the dock. How about we go sea fishing tomorrow? You can bring some people."

Upon hearing about sea fishing, Mingjing immediately became interested. She couldn't go beachcombing anytime soon, but sea fishing would be a more undisturbed option, and she could even use an octagonal cage in the deep sea.

If she has stock, she'll share it with everyone and show off her capabilities. If she doesn't have stock, she'll check out that island from last time; there's plenty there too.

“Sure, I’ll bring my family along for the sea fishing trip, Mr. Xia. How about the cost? We can’t just waste your boat tickets.”

"We'll be friends from now on, so if you insist on including me in the seafood category, just bring me a big abalone."

"That works too, may Mr. Xia make a fortune."

"The young lady is good at talking. She's pretty, smart, and has a bright future," Xia Chang'an laughed. "See you at the dock in your village at 5:30 tomorrow morning."

"Okay!"

The group ate, drank, and chatted for a while before Mingjing went home.

Ming Dahai was building a pigsty at home. There was still some open space on the side near the old house, enough to build two pigsties.

"Mom and Dad, a few bosses have invited me to go deep-sea fishing tomorrow. I'm planning to set fish traps. Which of you wants to come with me?"

With so many octagonal cages, she definitely wouldn't be able to handle a big catch by herself, let alone tuna or grouper caught by sea fishing.

“That’s good. Those people have been buzzing around our doorstep like flies all day. They keep asking where I’ve been. I’m so annoyed. They can’t follow me when I go out to sea.”

Sun Yunmei continued, "Mingliang, you and your sister should go help her tomorrow."

"Okay!"

Brightly and readily agreed.

"Sister, you don't know, you're the hottest girl in the village now. They used to call me ugly every day, but now they laugh when they see me. It must be because of you."

In the past, when the Ming family was struggling, outsiders didn't treat them well. Now, whenever they meet on the street, they greet each other warmly. Mingyue knows this is because of Mingjing.

"Alright, Mom, don't cook for me tonight, I've already eaten."

Mingjing went inside. Now she needed to think about whether to buy bigger equipment; octagonal cages were suitable for small catches like crabs and lobsters in shallow waters.

There are plenty of large creatures in the deep sea, so she thought she should buy an iron cage to see if she could catch a king crab.

A fishing cage in the tackle shop costs 3,000 points. She doesn't have many points left, and if she buys the cage, she'll have nothing left.

Confused, she looked through the menu again. A king crab set meal could earn 6,000 points, which seemed worthwhile.

As darkness fell, Mingjing got out of bed. "Dad, I'm going to town again to buy an iron cage to use as a fish trap."

Ming Dahai wanted Mingliang to accompany him as it was getting late, but Mingjing refused outright.

She follows me everywhere; she's not a three-year-old.

After leaving the house, Mingjing didn't go to the pier. Instead, she strolled around the beach. When it was almost time, she exchanged her fishing tackle for a square iron cage that was one meter wide and one meter high at the fishing tackle shop.

Her luck stat immediately soared to 500. It seemed like she would have good luck tomorrow. However, she only had a few points left, so she couldn't bear to look any longer and turned off the screen.

Back home, Ming Dahai asked about the price, and Ming Jing made up a number to cover it up.

In the middle of the night, Mingjing's stomach was growling with hunger. The old hen she had caught earlier was now laying two eggs a day.

Mingjing took one from the chicken coop and made a bowl of egg noodles.

The custom here is that you can't get up to eat in the middle of the night, as it's considered stealing food and is considered unlucky. To avoid being discovered, Mingjing ate in the dark without turning on the lights.

After eating and drinking her fill, Mingjing lay down to sleep. At five o'clock, she turned over, rubbed her eyes, and got up.

After a quick wash, Mingjing changed into long pants and a long-sleeved shirt, and also brought a blanket. The temperature difference between day and night at sea is large, so it's essential to bring warm clothes.

Besides clothes, she also took two snakeskin bags, a sand shovel, tongs, a wooden bucket, and even matches and seasonings.

If you can't find anything, having a picnic on the island is a good option.

Before leaving, she put on a facekini and applied sunscreen to all the exposed parts of her arms. Only after everything was ready did she pick up the bucket and prepare to leave.

"Mingjing! Is anything else missing?" Mingliang caught up with him, carrying a bucket.

Mingjing glanced at Mingliang's bulging pockets and asked, "What's in your pockets?"
