Chapter 1 Survival Game

Lin Hu looked at the pink and tender semi-transparent screen in front of him with a smug expression.

"When you were being bound, they said you had a cheat code, but what kind of cheat code is that?" Lin Hu said, while getting up and clicking on his backpack on the light screen. He removed the fishing rod from the twenty slots and put it back in. He tried it out and found it quite convenient and lightweight.

[1097: Of course it's good stuff.]

[1097: The host's ability in this world is flight, which can only be used for reconnaissance and escape. However, the system has rewarded the host with a floating island, which can be used for both defense and offense~]

"An island in the sky? Where?" Lin Hu looked up at the surrounding sky. Apart from the blue sky and the blazing sun, there was no island in the sky. Not to mention that the island was submerged, this island was still in the air. He was probably going to make Brother Niu kick out his coffin and have a three-day, three-night talk with him.

[1097: This is not visible because the islands are very fragile in the early stages, and we are afraid that someone will conquer them, so we set them in the sky for the time being. If the host doesn't like it, they can be placed at sea after the island is upgraded to level three.]

Let's stay in the sky, it's safer that way.

"Then how am I supposed to get up there and find the island?" Lin Hu said, seeing a wooden plank floating on the sea. He cast his fishing rod and hooked it right in front of him.

[1097: Of course, you fly up there. First, the host needs to bind to the island. After that, the host can teleport directly to the island by thinking about it.]

"Okay! Let's go now." Lin Hu put the fishing rod back in his backpack, tied up his long red hair, and followed 1097's guidance. After quickly getting used to how to use his superpower, he took two steps on the initial two-meter by two-meter raft, then did a half-crouch jump and flew straight into the sky.

During that time, 1097 filled him in on the specific story of this world.

This world was created from a poorly written, unfinished novel. The original storyline was a mindless, wish-fulfillment tale where the protagonist led his group to great heights. However, when the author wrote about islands being able to be contracted, preventing them from being submerged, and the protagonist group acquiring an island as a base, the author was accused of plagiarism. In a fit of madness, the author wrote a serendipitous adventure that triggered the protagonist group's exploration. They were then betrayed by others who wanted to seize their island. While searching for supplies, they were surrounded by zombies, including a high-level zombie king who wiped out the group, leaving only the protagonist and his childhood friend. To save his friend, the protagonist was infected by the zombie king and, before losing consciousness, asked his friend to kill him. The story ended with the protagonist's childhood friend going insane.

Lin Hu didn't know how to comment on this, since everyone could freely express their thoughts through a screen without caring whether their words would hurt others.

What makes it even harder for him to judge is that he didn't accidentally travel through time, but was pulled in by 1097, and he even has to help the main characters turn a bad story into a happy one.

Lin Hu: You overestimate me...

1097: Otherwise, do you think this island was given away for free?

Linhu...

Upon arriving at the floating island, it appeared quite large, with sacred mountains and springs, but all were shrouded in black mist, and only parts of them could be vaguely seen.

"Why is it all fog?" Lin Hu said, taking a step forward and bumping into a transparent defensive barrier as hard as a wall. If it weren't for the fleeting golden light he saw in the air after the impact, he would have thought he had encountered a ghost.

[1097: You can't get in like this.] 1097 said, while flicking a parchment contract that floated to Lin Hu's front.

[1097: Quickly bite your index finger and write your name in blood.]

"There's a contract here, so why are you saying someone else could seize it? Aren't things under a contract supposed to be owned? How could he possibly take it?"

[1097: If I kill you, won't he become ownerless?]

"Huh? You can do that?" Lin Hu didn't read many novels; he spent most of his time traveling, studying, and playing games, so he didn't know there was such a thing.

[1097: Host, you can rest assured that if you die, this island will also disappear directly. After all, this is a backdoor they opened for you.]

Was Lin Hu worried about the island being occupied by others? He was worried about his own life! If he was going to lose his life, what did he care about the island?

[1097: Host, hurry up and complete the contract! Every second wasted is a second wasted!]

1097 seemed even more excited than Lin Hu, and Lin Hu quickly obeyed.

[1097: Host, remember to name the island.]

"Then let's live in a secluded paradise." The moment the contract was written, it transformed into specks of golden light and drifted into the black mist. Part of the surrounding black mist disappeared, revealing a small pond and an open space, which appeared to be a field.

Lin Hu walked to the pond, looked at the clean water, and was about to scoop it up with his hands and drink a couple of mouthfuls when 1097 immediately stopped him.

[1097: Host, you cannot drink this. Your current body cannot handle it.]

Fearing that making a sound would be too late to stop him, 1097 directly controlled Lin Hu's hand, causing him to slip his hand out of the water.

Lin Hu asked in confusion, "Why?"

[1097: Your constitution is too weak. I'll remind you when you're able to drink it.]

[1097: Hurry up and claim the gift pack.]

As 1097 spoke, a gift box popped up in the center of the screen. After Lin Hu clicked to claim it, the system issued a notification.

[Ding! Host has been detected as being bound to the "Shangri-La" island. The host is hereby rewarded with 2 Gold Treasure Chests, 1 Advanced Water Purifier, 10 Rice Seeds, 2 Pear Tree Saplings, 9999 Island Experience Points, and 8888 Raft Experience Points.]

"So much? I'm going to be lying down right from the start?" Lin Hu muttered to himself, looking at the huge pile of stuff that had suddenly appeared in his backpack.
