Chapter 118 Distributing Porridge

Lin Hu glanced at the people over at the tent; they were all swaying, but their eyes were gleaming.

They were probably hungry, but also had expectations for the future.

With his body in such a state, Lin Hu was unable to work, so he found something to do.

I walked towards the temporary canteen, where they set up a large pot to cook some plain porridge.

Those people had been hungry for a long time and couldn't eat anything too oily or spicy all at once, so we decided to make them some plain porridge first.

The temporary canteen was actually built from the sheet metal of a warehouse they dismantled when they landed on the island. The only difference between it and the warehouse was that one had cement walls and the other had wooden walls.

It was built similarly to that warehouse, and it was spacious. Tables and chairs were set up inside so that other people could eat there without being damaged by the wind and snow.

"Oh, Mr. Lin, what brings you to the cafeteria today?" A middle-aged woman with curly short hair walked into the temporary cafeteria and was surprised to see Lin Hu.

She works under Duan Bohai and has a son who just turned 18. After Duan Bohai saved her son, she started working for him and is now managing the canteen.

Duan Bohai didn't hide the details of how the island came about from his subordinates; he also knew about Lin Hu and Duan Linzhou's affairs.

Therefore, she not only admired Lin Hu, but also quite liked him.

Lin Hu looked up and saw the auntie, then greeted her with a smile: "Auntie Liu, I'm cooking congee. Those who have just arrived on the island can't eat anything too oily yet."

Lin Hu explained that he squatted on the ground to light a fire, but it wouldn't ignite after a while, and suddenly he missed Duan Linzhou's fire-type ability.

Suddenly, however, he remembered something, stretched out his right hand, and flame appeared in Lin Hu's palm.

Flame resides in Lin Hu's palm. Unlike other pet spaces, they are connected by mind and understand what Lin Hu wants to do as soon as they appear.

Flame reached out and scratched his head, his hand turning blue with flame, and threw it into the stove under the pot.

The flames burst into flames instantly, emitting a muffled boom, almost reaching Lin Hu's hair, and startling Aunt Liu, who was about to step forward to help light the fire.

Lin Hu glanced at Yan, who remained motionless, assuming Lin Hu was angry.

Lin Hu suddenly chuckled, "Yan is really amazing!"

When Yan saw that Lin Hu wasn't angry and even praised it, it was instantly delighted and sprouted thin blood vines to entwine around the jade thumb ring on Lin Hu's thumb.

"What is this?" Aunt Liu asked, pointing to the flame in Lin Hu's hand with a mixture of curiosity and surprise.

"Its name is Flame, and it's my contracted beast." Lin Hu stood up and showed Flame to Aunt Liu.

"Just like Boss Duan's White Tiger?" Aunt Liu exclaimed in surprise, looking at Lin Hu in disbelief. She never expected that someone so young would have such an opportunity.

"Almost." After saying that, Lin Hu put Bai Hua on his shoulder and picked up a large spatula to stir the rice grains that had sunk to the bottom of the pot.

Aunt Liu was also getting ready to go about her business. There were quite a few people coming today, so she needed to prepare more food.

The vegetables don't need to be chopped; just wash them and put them in the machine, and it will process them automatically. She only needs to cook rice and wash the vegetables.

Cooking rice is simple now. When Duan Bohai went to the factory canteen before he landed on the island, he took away the rice steamer. All she has to do is control the amount of rice and water and steam it.

Meanwhile, things were also going on in Linhu. Linhu sent a message to the islands built by Duan Bohai, asking those who had just arrived on the islands to go to the canteen for porridge.

Soon, groups of two or three people came to the cafeteria, and they were all a little surprised to see the familiar cafeteria windows.

After seeing someone waving at them from one of the windows, they went over.

"Those who want porridge, please line up." Lin Hu said, picking up a plastic bowl, filling it with porridge, and placing it on the counter.

Those who were about to say something immediately lined up in a rush.

Lin Hu pushed the bowl he had prepared towards the eldest brother standing at the front, and casually reminded him.

"On our Azure Dragon Island, as long as you work, the food is free and plentiful. Those who don't work have to buy their own food with crystal cores. But since you've just arrived on the island, we'll give you free food today."

Since it was just a suggestion, Lin Hu didn't need to be polite.

The people in line initially felt a chill, but after hearing the last words, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

But there are always people with their own ideas in this world. A middle-aged man in the middle of the line suddenly muttered, "What's the rush? They're just trying to treat us like slaves from the start!"

The sound wasn't loud, but Lin Hu still heard it, and those around him began to have some thoughts about it.

Lin Hu's gaze locked onto the speaker. Sensing Lin Hu's emotions, Yan jumped off his shoulder, stood on the platform, and a vine suddenly extended.

The middle-aged man saw a vine rushing towards his face, and just as it was about to strike him, Lin Hu called out to stop it.

"Alright, Flame, stop causing trouble."

His voice was loud enough for those around him to understand that the flower belonged to him.

The meaning is quite clear: deterrence.

Tell them to eat their meals quietly and not cause trouble, otherwise he has the ability to shut them up.

The middle-aged man stared in horror at the vine that was less than a few centimeters in front of him, his legs trembling uncontrollably.

The next second, Yan retracted the vines and jumped back onto Lin Hu's shoulder.

The people in the group looked at each other, not daring to react too much, feeling unsure whether to leave or stay.

Lin Hu glanced at the frightened middle-aged man and gave him a harmless professional smile. "Sorry, it has a bad temper. It didn't mean to. Please line up for your meal first."

The middle-aged man dared not complain. He lined up with the others, standing ramrod straight, as if he were not applying for Party membership.

"Here you go, be careful, it's hot. Remember not to litter after you finish eating, there are trash cans by the door." Lin Hu said with his usual smile to the person standing at the window.

The older brother reached out, carrying the rice with both hands. Looking at the white, thick rice, he lowered his head and slurped it down, not caring whether the people around him would look at him strangely.

Everyone did the same. When it was the middle-aged man's turn, he held his bowl, apologized to Lin Hu, and quickly left the window, not daring to linger, and went straight out of the cafeteria.

After that, people lined up quietly, and those who finished their porridge sat down in the cafeteria to drink it. There were indeed spoons, but Lin Hu didn't know that, and Aunt Liu was there too, so she forgot to put them out.

By the time they got to the back of the line, it was almost noon, and the construction workers started arriving at the canteen for lunch. Aunt Liu laid out the food, and only then did the two realize what was happening.
