Everyone looked over at Sun Xiaoxiao's prompt.
In that deep, mysterious water, a blurry figure gradually emerged.
As the figure gradually became clearer, everyone realized that the mermaid was floating on the sea.
In the darkness, one could only vaguely see that the mermaid had short, light-colored hair that reached her ears, the exact color of which was unclear. Her fair skin made it clear that her eyes were covered by a black cloth.
Most importantly, this mermaid also has a shark mark on its fair arm, so it is clearly a black mermaid.
As if some kind of instinct had been suddenly triggered, everyone's mind and body, which had just relaxed a little from grabbing the black fish, instantly tensed up.
Their eyes suddenly sharpened.
The mermaid gazed ahead through the gaps in the lace covering her face. Even though something was blocking her view, her gaze seemed to follow each and every one of them, locking onto them.
The group reacted quickly. Sun Xiaoxiao and Duan Linzhou immediately launched fireballs, thinking that if it were a black merman, it would definitely be affected.
This could very likely give others a chance to retaliate.
The fireball not only attacked, but also attracted the attention of the black merfolk, making it easier for others to act before the black merfolk could react.
Just as the blazing fireball was about to strike the mermaid, she quickly dodged into the sea, then popped her head out from another spot.
Several fireballs fell into the sea, stuck to the surface and burned for a while before extinguishing with crackling sparks.
Lin Hu and Yan had already begun their attack quietly, and the ice silk silently rushed towards the black merman.
I thought the operation to freeze the mermaid would be carried out quietly and successfully.
In reality, as if she had expected it, the black merman poked her upper body out of the water, looked up and met Lin Hu's gaze, which seemed to pierce through the veil on her face and shine directly at her.
Lin Hu was suddenly jolted, as if struck in the depths of his soul by that unexpected gaze.
The hand drawing the bow tightened involuntarily, the knuckles turning slightly white from the force, making it impossible to focus on the target.
He subconsciously bit his tongue, using the pain at the tip to keep himself awake.
Only after tasting the metallic sweetness in his mouth did Lin Hu feel his vision clear up considerably.
The mermaid, who should have been quietly gazing at him, was now humming a song.
The mermaid's heavenly voice seemed to drift slowly from the deep sea, carrying a mysterious and ethereal charm.
Each note is like a crystal-clear water droplet, leaping and sparkling in the air, exuding a faint scent of seawater.
Sometimes melodious and gentle, sometimes passionate and soaring, it is like surging waves crashing against the rocks, stirring up layers of spray and shaking people's souls.
Lin Hu then noticed that the people below were all standing still, their eyes vacant, as if they had entered a dream world.
He carefully observed the group of people standing motionless below. Their eyes were unfocused and empty, as if they had lost all life, as if they were trapped in some kind of illusion.
Lin Hu's heart skipped a beat, and his gaze swept across the crowd below before finally settling on Duan Linzhou.
Duan Linzhou also stood still, and a closer look revealed that his eyes were unfocused.
Lin Hu's heart sank.
Unexpectedly, Duan Linzhou also fell victim to this, and people were more puzzled as to how Duan Linzhou hadn't noticed the situation.
Just as Lin Hu was about to move closer to Duan Linzhou, the mermaid suddenly whipped up a huge wave with her tail, which slammed directly onto him.
Because it had already flown low, Lin Hu was not spared at all and got soaked to the bone.
Just as he was about to retaliate, another wave came, forcing Lin Hu to defend. He had Yan use ice silk to freeze the seawater, and then threw out a vine to break the ice, thus avoiding being hit by the frozen seawater.
Of course, in addition to communicating and coordinating with the flames through his mind, Lin Hu also shot three arrows when the ice broke.
Mermaids are more agile in the water than on land; they dive into the water and wiggle their bodies a few times to dodge everything.
Lin Hu didn't expect to hit the target; he just kept shooting arrows, hovering in mid-air while the mermaid kept dodging in the sea.
Lin Hu gradually sensed something was wrong and turned to look at the iron cage.
Only then did they realize that the black merman from before was no longer in the iron cage.
Another wave of seawater was slapped by the mermaids in the sea, but was blocked by Yan.
Just as Lin Hu was about to catch the mermaid, he discovered that the mermaid's mask was gone, and its gaze was fixed on Duan Linzhou and the others. It was swimming towards the shore and had recently locked itself in an iron cage.
Is this a trade-in program?
Just as Lin Hu was wondering what was going on, he noticed that Duan Linzhou had walked up to the cage and pressed the iron cage back into the sand.
When did he regain consciousness?
Lin Hu glanced again at the spot where Duan Linzhou had originally been standing.
It was already empty, and out of the corner of my eye I could see other people shaking their heads and trying to wake themselves up.
It seems we all need to wake up.
"What just happened?" Lin Hu asked, standing next to Duan Linzhou.
Duan Linzhou's gaze was fixed on the direction of the iron cage, his eyes reflecting the flames and shadows on it. His thoughts seemed to be immersed in some kind of memory, and he did not immediately reply to Lin Hu.
Lin Hu thought the other person wasn't feeling well and asked with concern, "Is there something wrong with your body?"
Duan Linzhou then turned to look at Lin Hu, a gentle smile on his face, his previous emotions gone.
"It's nothing, don't overthink it, I'm just thinking about something."
"What happened to you?" Duan Linzhou asked worriedly, reaching out to brush away the hair that had been torn from Lin Hu's forehead.
Previously, Lin Hu was some distance away in the air, and the night was too dark, so he hadn't noticed that Lin Hu had been soaked to the bone. It was only now that he was closer to the fire cage that he realized something was wrong.
"Brother Duan, I'm cold."
Lin Hu's voice was still that of a cheerful young man, with a slightly magnetic quality, but this time it carried a hint of coquettishness, and he couldn't help but shiver when the cold wind blew.
