Chapter 124 Haunted House

Aunt Qin's husband is an archaeologist and is often away on business trips. He wasn't home today either. He only managed to come back during the Lunar New Year when he visited Aunt Qin's parents' house on New Year's Eve and the third day of the Lunar New Year.

Since everyone was already familiar with each other, they weren't at all reserved while eating.

After finishing his meal, Lin Hu played games with Xu Yiling for a while before returning home.

After washing up and going to bed, Lin Hu felt that the bed was very warm and thought that Lin Jingyue had put an electric blanket on his bed.

But he tossed and turned and couldn't fall asleep. He always felt like something was missing, and in the end, he didn't even know how he finally fell asleep.

When Lin Jingyue woke up the next day, she was already preparing the ingredients. The TV was on in the living room, showing only short comedy sketches.

When Lin Hu came out, he saw Lin Jingyue and Aunt Qin sitting on the sofa in his living room, shelling peas.

"Mom, Aunt Qin," Lin Hu greeted politely.

Aunt Qin nodded to indicate that she had heard, then turned to Lin Jingyue to continue chatting about the skit they had just watched.

After Lin Hu finished washing up in the bathroom, he went to the kitchen to find something to eat. After eating, he also grabbed a bunch of scallions and joined the two of them watching TV.

Xu Yiling didn't get up until noon. He had just finished preparing the vegetables, and there was still washing, chopping, and marinating to do. There was also a braised pork hock in the pot.

The sound of a television came from inside the house, along with the aroma of stewing meat. Outside, downstairs in the residential area, there were the sounds of children's laughter and firecrackers.

After Xu Yiling got up and came over, Lin Jingyue could tell that Lin Hu's mind was elsewhere, so she sent the two of them away.

Lin Hu and Xu Yiling happily took their meager allowance to the small supermarket downstairs to buy firecrackers. They joined a group of kids who were about five or six years younger than them and immediately became the leaders of the group.

In the end, it was only because it was getting dark and several children had already been called home by their parents for New Year's Eve dinner that the two of them finally went home.

Their timing was perfect; they happened to arrive just as both sides were almost finished preparing their New Year's Eve dinners.

Lin Hu's family makes stir-fried prawns, while Xu Yiling's family makes steamed prawns.

So the two of them ran back and forth with their bowls, only stopping after they finished eating the shrimp.

After finishing his meal, Xu Yiling's father watched TV with his wife and children for a while before receiving another notice to go to work overtime.

Aunt Qin also came to find Lin Jingyue to stay up all night, and Lin Hu was also called to Xu Yiling's house. The two of them did not watch TV, but played games all night.

As dawn approached, Lin Hu went back to sleep and discovered that a mahjong machine had appeared in the living room sometime during the night.

Lin Jingyue and Aunt Qin were not home, and Lin Hu didn't care about that. He went back to his room, lay down on the bed, and fell asleep instantly.

Perhaps I was too tired.

A figure clearly appeared in the corner of his room, approached him, and stopped by the bed.

Duan Linzhou looked at Lin Hu, who was curled up in a ball under the covers on the bed.

He sat down on the edge of the bed and used his supernatural power to run his hand over the blanket until Lin Hu felt a little hot and poked his head out from under the blanket before he stopped.

"Brother Duan..."

Duan Linzhou's gaze lingered on Lin Hu's face for a few seconds before he finally sighed, thinking that the other person had woken up.

"Yes, Brother Duan is here."

Duan Linzhou placed a light kiss on the red mole on Lin Hu's face.

Lin Hu slept soundly and didn't wake up until 3 p.m. However, he played on his phone in bed for a while until he got hungry.

The food was still warm, and Lin Jingyue was still sleeping in her room.

Lin Hu assumed that Lin Jingyue had just finished heating up before going to sleep, so he pulled out a chair, sat down, and started eating.

Inside the amusement park, Duan Linzhou couldn't help but sneeze.

On the morning of the second day of the Lunar New Year, because there were many activities to do and there would definitely be more people during the New Year, queuing would waste a lot of time. So, at eight o'clock, Xu Yiling stood by Lin Hu's bedside and started the wake-up service.

Lin Hu went to bed late last night, and Xu Yiling called him for a long time but he didn't respond. In the end, he had to be dragged out of bed.

I said goodbye to Lin Jingyue before leaving and took a taxi there.

The car stopped at the bus stop not far from the amusement park entrance. When the two got out, they saw that the fat man was already waiting in front of the bus stop, holding three cups of milk tea in his hand, with one cup held to his own lips.

Upon seeing the two, the fat man took two steps closer and handed them the milk tea he was holding.

Lin Hu took it, and his slightly cool fingertips were instantly warmed by the temperature of the milk tea.

It's still hot.

"So warm." Xu Yiling also received the milk tea and said casually after feeling the warmth.

"Shall we go in now?" Lin Hu asked, taking apart the straw, piercing the milk tea wrapper, and taking a sip.

"Let's go to that beef and mutton noodle shop over there and have a bowl of noodles," Xu Yiling said, only to receive a glare from Lin Hu.

"So you do know you're hungry?" Lin Hu said reproachfully, expressing her dissatisfaction at being suddenly woken up in the morning without having eaten.

"Okay, I haven't eaten yet either, let's go together." The fat man ignored what the two were saying and, with his taller body, he put his arm around each of them and walked towards the store.

The three of them ordered a bowl of mutton rice noodles, along with some free side dishes and chili peppers, and sat in a corner of the shop eating and chatting about which activity to play first.

Lin Hu occasionally joined the conversation, but most of the time he listened attentively. He was the kind of person who never liked to plan and just followed along with others.

Lin Hu glanced around the store; it was quite crowded.

Perhaps because it's next to an amusement park, the surrounding shops didn't close during the Chinese New Year.

Just then, a figure wearing a black and brown coat passed by the store entrance, and Lin Hu felt that he looked somewhat familiar.

By the time he realized what had happened, he hadn't even noticed when he had chased after them.

Standing at the shop entrance, looking at the spot where the man had just disappeared, there were only some vendors surrounded by crowds.

Most of the people around were playing games like shooting balloons or ring toss and beanbag throwing at the vendor's stall.
