Chapter 13 System Tasks

[Duan Linzhou: Coming right away.]

Lin Hu closed the chat window, put a few persimmons into his backpack, and picked the rest, including all the ripe and rotten ones, and put them on the ground.

Half an hour later, Duan Linzhou arrived at the scene.

Lin Hu then told them the plan. The two of them first crushed the persimmons on the ground with stones, then one of them jumped up into a tree to observe the surrounding ground, while the other flew into the sky to see if there was any movement in the distance.

The two waited for almost an hour, and Lin Hu was getting impatient before Duan Linzhou finally spoke up to remind them.

"They're here!"

Lin Hu flew quite high and couldn't see the ground clearly, so he flew to Duan Linzhou's side. Only then did he realize it was a small snake, probably only level one based on its size.

Then, snakes slowly crawled out from all directions, about 10 of them.

They all crawled towards the pile of crushed persimmons on the ground. At first, it was fine that they were scattered around, but when they all suddenly gathered together in one place, it was a bit of a trypophobia.

Lin Hu drew an arrow, and Duan Linzhou's outstretched index finger slowly ignited, the tip of which set ablaze on Lin Hu's arrow.

An arrow struck the spot on the ground marked by oil, instantly igniting a wall of fire.

The snakes were terrified by this sudden change and fled in all directions. However, the area they could reach was not large, and since it was a supernatural flame, the snakes retreated as soon as they touched it.

Lin Hu seized the opportunity and launched three arrows at a time.

After Lin Hu killed 10 of them, Duan Linzhou condensed a fireball in his palm and blasted the remaining ones directly into the circle.

After acquiring some level one and two crystal cores and snakeskin poison, the two quickly left the place.

Lin Hu and Duan Linzhou took a route that neither of them had explored before. After exploring for nearly 6 hours, they hurriedly returned to the raft.

Lin Hu needs to rush back to cook. He's quite busy right now and is even thinking of hiring a chef.

Because he was a bit tired, Lin Hu didn't want to think about making something new, so he made a big pot of braised pork with potatoes that he had made before. He just kept an eye on the pot while it was cooking and then left it to simmer without doing anything else.

Only then did Lin Hu have time to talk to Duan Linzhou about what he had learned that day.

Lin Hu harvested 12 snake skins, 12 poisons, 10 persimmons, and 4 tomatoes, plus 5 walnut seeds and a bag of farm-grown greens from the diamond treasure chest that was a reward for completing the mission. It was a good harvest.

Duan Linzhou harvested 6 snake skins, 6 poisons, 23 river shrimps, 50 snails, and 11 chili seeds.

The river shrimp and snails were caught by Duan Linzhou from a river he encountered shortly after parting ways with Lin Hu. They were all mutated and edible, and they were quite large, about the size of a fist.

The chili peppers were in a similar location. There was originally a large patch in front of them, and Duan Linzhou wanted to pull them all up, but when he saw a huge man-eating flower in the center of the chili peppers, he had no choice but to give up.

Duan Linzhou left some of these supplies for Lin Hu, and the rest were sent to his parents and friends.

Before the braised pork was ready, Lin Hu handed over the task of watching the pot to Duan Linzhou and quietly ran to the island to put away new things.

Lin Hu looked at the shrimp, which were about the size of his palm, and exclaimed in amazement, "These two or three should be enough to fill me up." He then looked at the snails, which were about the size of his fist, and thought that once he found the Sichuan peppercorns, he would definitely have a proper meal of crayfish and snails.

After throwing Lin Hu into the spiritual spring, he harvested another batch of mature crops and stored them in the warehouse. After planting the newly obtained crops, he was very satisfied with what he saw in less than 24 hours.

He only needs two more crops to upgrade, and he'll go to the trading market to check it out after he finishes eating.

Lin Hu thought about how he had fished out a bucket of food from the warehouse and then went downstairs.

As soon as Lin Hu stepped out from behind the wooden house where the view was obscured, he saw Duan Linzhou bring out a bowl of braised pork and place it on the table under the grape trellis.

Duan Linzhou also happened to look up and smiled at Lin Hu, saying:

"Go and bring out the rice."

Lin Hu scratched his head and followed Duan Linzhou into the house, only to come out again a minute later.

Lin Hu walked behind Duan Linzhou, holding a bowl and chopsticks in his hand, while Duan Linzhou carried the inner pot of the rice cooker containing rice.

While eating, Lin Hu distributed food to others before realizing that it was wasteful to keep using disposable paper bowls, as there were no cafeteria-style trays available.

"Do you think we should find some more porcelain bowls? Paper bowls are starting to go up in price now." Lin Hu doesn't have many porcelain bowls. They usually only use them with Duan Linzhou's parents. When they cook for others, they use paper bowls.

"The market has been quiet lately, probably because everyone's busy keeping warm. I'll contact the person who sells porcelain bowls later to see if they have any left."
