Chapter 135 Zombie Virus

"Brother Lin, what brings you here today?" Liu Xu asked curiously.

If you're here to buy something, aren't all the fruits provided by Linhu? Are you here for an inspection?

The willow catkins quietly straightened their backs, displaying the spirit and energy that a good employee should have.

"I came to check on you. How have you been lately?" Lin Hu said, his hand resting on the counter as he chatted with Liu Xu, his attention still glued to the woman.

The woman, who was initially picking out fruit, gradually started chatting with several other people who were also buying fruit nearby.

The shop wasn't very big, and the woman's voice wasn't quiet either; it sounded like she was having a normal conversation with someone.

"Oh, I heard Boss Zhou is on your Qinglong Island? Has anyone seen him?" the woman asked the seemingly enthusiastic aunt beside her, feigning nonchalance.

"Huh? No? Who told you that?" The aunt looked at the woman with a puzzled expression, only to find that the woman looked unfamiliar. She didn't even realize that the woman had just said "your Qinglong Island".

"I've never seen you before? Are you new here?" the aunt said, glancing at the woman a few more times.

"No, I'm from Bright Island. I'm here to discuss business with our leader."

The woman, without any guilt, held up the plastic bag containing several oranges and said, "Look, I'm here to buy some fruit for my boss."

"Oh, I see. It's really tough for young people these days. They have to give gifts and curry favor with their superiors..." The aunt nodded as if she understood, muttering to herself. The woman stopped talking to her and walked towards the corner where the watermelons were.

Lin Hu noticed the woman making some subtle moves, but because her back was to him, he didn't know what she was doing.

The woman paused for a moment, then left the fruit shop without even taking the fruit she had selected and put into the plastic bag.

Lin Hu watched the woman walk away and decided to go check what was going on over there.

Lin Hu stared at the watermelon and immediately spotted a pinhole. Lin Hu's heart sank.

Is this poisoning?

Regardless of what kind of poison it is, take it to the hospital for testing first.

"Liu Xu, come here for a moment," Lin Hu called out to Liu Xu on the cashier's counter.

Liu Xu was suddenly called out. Seeing Lin Hu holding a watermelon with a gloomy expression, she thought she had done something wrong.

"What's wrong, Brother Lin?" Liu Xu walked to the side of Linhu Lake, feeling a little uneasy.

"Close the shop today, and don't buy anything from those who are still picking things out," Lin Hu whispered.

"ah?"

Liu Xu was confused, but she immediately put it into action, raising her voice to chase away the customers in the shop.

"I'm sorry everyone, I have an urgent matter to attend to today. Please come back tomorrow. I have to close the shop now. Those who have made their selections and those who haven't, please leave now."

Since Liu Xu was a girl, the others didn't linger and just left after grumbling a few times.

After the guests left, Liu Xu leaned over to Lin Hu and asked, "Brother Lin, what's wrong?"

Lin Hu showed Liu Xu the pinhole on the watermelon, saying, "That woman just now is suspicious. Look around the store for other fruits with pinholes. We're not open for business today."

Liu Xu covered her mouth in shock; she had heard what the woman had just said.

She's not from Qinglong Island, could it be the legendary business war?

"Okay, Brother Lin, don't worry, I will check it carefully."

After Liu Xu and Lin Hu left, she lowered the roller shutter and checked each item in the pallet one by one with a light on.

Lin Hu arrived at the entrance of the hospital department in Building No. 1 with watermelon. Actually, calling it a hospital department is more like calling it a small outpatient clinic.

Because there were only two people, they set aside one empty room on the first floor to serve as the hospital department.

Because both of them are traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and happened to have awakened healing abilities, they can treat people in just a few hours, without needing to use too many hospital beds to take up space.

When the two elderly traditional Chinese medicine doctors saw Lin Hu carrying a watermelon in, they assumed it was for them.

A middle-aged man with a beard, wearing dark training clothes, walked towards Lin Hu with a smile and said, "You're here, no need to bring any gifts."

As the old man with the beard reached out to take the watermelon, Lin Hu did not stop him, but reminded him as he took it: "This watermelon has been injected with something. I brought it here for you to check."

Inside, in a private room partitioned off by a curtain, a man of similar age to the bearded old man lifted the curtain and came out upon hearing this.

"What is that?" The man was a workaholic, surnamed Qian.

Because of this hopeless apocalypse, he had been trying to find a specific drug to suppress viral infection. The reason he agreed to join Qinglong Island was because Duan Linzhou promised to provide him with the necessary equipment and not restrict his research.

The other one, surnamed Wang, is a renowned expert in traditional Chinese medicine. He has a relatively easygoing personality, but is a bit lazy.

"This one." Lin Hu pointed to the watermelon that Dr. Wang was holding in his arms.

Dr. Wang then realized what was happening, and while examining the watermelon, he discovered a pinhole.

"I hope you can check this for me first. I need the results today," Lin Hu said, only then noticing that the doctor was still wearing medical gloves on his hand when he reached out to hold the watermelon.

Were they just conducting an experiment?

Lin Hu spoke again, "Thank you for your hard work."

"Okay, we'll contact you when the results are out." The former doctor didn't even glance at Lin Hu, focusing intently on the needle hole on the watermelon.

Lin Hu didn't linger and turned to leave, only to run into Jiang Qiaomei at the door.

"Aunt Jiang? What are you doing here?" Lin Hu asked in confusion. Shouldn't she be following the bald man at this time?

Has something been discovered? Or has it been discovered?

"It's a long story, I'll stop here for now, I need to go see Dr. Qian." Jiang Qiaomei spoke at an astonishing speed, and walked directly past Linhu into the lake.
