Just then, a figure quietly approached from behind, peeking out between Lin Hu and Wen Mofei.
"What are you eating?" Belle looked left and right curiously, hoping one of them could give her an answer.
The two were startled. Wen Mofei choked on the egg and coughed a few times before he recovered.
Lin Hu's eyes lit up, and he took out a plum, asking, "Want one?"
Belle's eyes lit up, and she reached out and grabbed a plum, stuffing it into her mouth. As she chewed, she suddenly felt that the taste was a bit strange, and the texture also suddenly became odd.
Lin Hu immediately knew the reason and reminded him, "There's a pit inside; you can't eat it, you have to spit it out."
Belle had already swallowed the plum in her mouth, along with the chewed pit.
"Try one more, this time spit out the pit." Lin Hu said, and even demonstrated by taking a plum, biting off half of it, and showing the pit to the other person.
Belle took another plum from Lin Hu with some skepticism, and mimicking his actions, removed the pit intact. This time, the plum tasted sweet and sour and was delicious.
"Doesn't it taste much better?" Lin Hu said to Belle with a smile, while Duan Linzhou, standing to the side, looked at Lin Hu like a little fox, his eyes gleaming.
"Mmm-hmm." Belle nodded repeatedly, her eyes shining, and reached out to take another one, but Lin Hu dodged away.
Belle was a little annoyed; she had shared her food with the other person, but the other person was unwilling to share their food with her.
Just as Belle was about to leave in anger, Lin Hu took out a lot of different kinds of fruit and stuffed them into her arms, saying, "These are for you."
Belle was flattered and her previously depressed mood instantly turned into one of bewilderment. "There's too much. I can't eat it all."
“Take it and share it with your friends,” Lin Hu said, taking a wooden sign out of his backpack.
Belle couldn't see the system, but she saw Lin Hu suddenly conjure a wooden board in the air, which made her think Lin Hu was even more amazing!
Lin Hu suddenly remembered something and turned to look at Belle, "Can you read?"
Belle nodded, and Lin Hu began to carve words on it with a knife.
"What is this?" Belle curiously leaned closer to look, and seeing the words on it, she read them aloud: "A bunch of grapes, two pearls, three plums, one pearl..."
“You want to buy something?” Belle understood, then glanced at Lin Hu. “Are you a merchant?”
Belle was a little skeptical, because Lin Hu didn't seem like it. In their underwater world, merchants were all cunning, but Lin Hu's eyes looked very clean.
"Yes, but this is my first time being a businessman." Lin Hu lowered his head as he carved the words, a faint smile playing on his lips.
This was his first time being a merchant at sea.
Belle understood; she couldn't let Lin Hu suffer a loss.
Belle secretly resolved to help Lin Hu promote his products, since he had given her so many free gifts and was generous enough to share them with others.
Lin Hu finished carving quickly and handed the wooden plaque to Belle. Belle glanced at it but couldn't help asking, "What are these things you want to sell?"
"The ones you have in your hand..." Lin Hu suddenly realized that these things were all produced in the mainland, and Belle didn't recognize them, let alone other mermaids.
Lin Hu introduced the fruits and their prices to Belle one by one.
Belle suddenly looked at Lin Hu with the eyes of someone looking at a "foolish rich kid," and said, "Your things are so delicious, and you only sell this few pearls?"
Lin Hu didn't understand why Belle would say that, but since she had said so, he would raise the price.
"Then what price do you think would be appropriate?" Lin Hu asked Belle for her opinion.
“Give me your knife,” Belle said, looking eager to try.
Lin Hu understood and handed over the knife. Belle took the knife and made several vertical cuts on the wooden board.
Lin Hu looked over and discovered that Belle had actually added a "1" before the number of each pearl.
A bunch of grapes with 12 pearls—that's quite a bold claim!
“Okay, then let’s do it your way. Take these fruits back and share them with your friends, and ask them to help me promote it.” Lin Hu said with a smile, his eyes curving into crescents, looking every bit the shrewd businessman.
Belle, however, seemed oblivious, her eyes shining brightly as she happily carried a pile of fruit back home.
Back at the merfolk's place, chaos reigned as they all inquired with Belle about the origins of the fruit. Upon hearing that the fruit had many strange names, they finally agreed on the common name "fruit," which made them even more excited about it.
Before long, they all rushed over to Linhu to buy more, carrying their fruit and swaggering through the coral reefs.
Upon seeing it, many people in the coral reefs inquired about it, eventually forming a long queue at Linhu.
Duan Linzhou and Wen Mofei also helped out, and the team split into three groups.
After a long period of work, the mermaids finally managed to buy the fruits they wanted. Some of the mermaids even came to buy fruit for the Mermaid King, but Lin Hu didn't know who they were.
Fortunately, he always greeted all his guests with a standard smile.
Not far away, inside a seashell, a mermaid with a bluish-white fishtail, wearing a crown, and long, white hair cut in the shape of a princess cut, is watching everything that is happening outside.
It turns out that looking out from inside a seashell is like looking through a one-way mirror, allowing you to see everything outside clearly.
After finishing his work, Lin Hu remembered the potion. He didn't give it all away; he kept half for himself and gave the other half to Belle, who would then take it to the Mermaid King.
At night, the three of them casually lay down on a coral and fell asleep. Wen Mofei didn't want to be a third wheel, so she naturally kept her distance.
