Ling Jiuqi hadn't come out because of what had just happened. She planned to wait until the two of them finished eating and then sneak out to cook for herself.
"How did it go?" Lin Hu asked Duan Linzhou after drinking a few mouthfuls of porridge, feeling a bit full.
"That person is called Lu Jianjun. He used to be a crazy person who liked to do research. Later, he awakened his regenerative ability. Because of his ability, he used himself for research, but each time before it had any effect, his superpower would heal him first."
Later, due to the appearance of the island, he joined Bright Island on the condition that he could research the virus in Qin Yaowei's body. That monster was his boss before the apocalypse, who often suppressed him. After making progress in one of his research projects, he asked Hong Haoyue for people to conduct the research. The person Chen Mingyao had seen in the cage before was Xu Lan, but he didn't recognize her.
Lin Hu sighed deeply; it really was something Hong Haoyue was capable of doing.
"What are your plans after that? What about Bright Island?" Lin Hu asked, his gaze towards Duan Linzhou filled with complex emotions.
If Duan Linzhou takes over Bright Island, his mission will be complete. If he stays, will Duan Linzhou have no time to spend with him?
Just look at Duan Bohai; he works year-round without a break, planning island affairs every day, and he can't easily leave the island. Now, every time he goes to the island, he sends a small team of other people to go with him.
"I plan to send a small team to clear out the zombies later, and then have Wen Bozhi take over."
Duan Linzhou smiled and handed a tissue to Lin Hu, who was still stunned, saying, "Wipe your face, you got some on it."
Lin Hu realized what was happening, reached out and took it, wiped it haphazardly, and said incredulously, "You're not going? I think they all really want you to go."
"No, I have my own things to do." Duan Linzhou didn't explain what he was busy with. He got up, took the bowl in front of Lin Hu, and took it to the kitchen to wash.
Lin Hu was still sitting outside, lost in thought.

The door in front of him suddenly opened, revealing Duan Linzhou. Upon seeing Lin Hu, he paused noticeably, looking somewhat surprised and guilty.
"What are you talking about?" Lin Hu's voice was a little hoarse. Just now, he had a lot of wild thoughts in his mind, and he was afraid of the worst possible outcome.
"You heard everything."
It's not a question, it's a statement.
Duan Linzhou was wondering where to begin explaining to him, but he was afraid it would affect Lin Hu, and this behavior would appear as guilty to Lin Hu.
Just as Duan Linzhou was about to speak, a voice came from outside the door calling him to assemble. He was one of the people leading the team to Bright Island.
"Don't overthink it. I'll explain when I get back. Don't worry, I support all your choices." Duan Linzhou said, then reached out and stroked Lin Hu's hair before leaving.
Lin Hu looked at Ling Jiuqi, "He doesn't have time, so you speak."
"I can't say, he has to say it." Ling Jiuqi shook her head frantically as she said this, as if something terrible would happen immediately if she spoke.
Lin Hu didn't press the issue. He stayed home and waited to see what Duan Linzhou would say.
However, Lin Hu still made a trip to the secluded pastoral area to water the snow lotus.
When Duan Linzhou returned in the evening, he saw Lin Hu sitting in the living room, Ao Jinjin watching TV, and Ling Jiuqi staying in her room.
Lin Hu glanced at Duan Linzhou and, seeing that he was clean and uninjured, stood up. "Tell Ling Jiuqi to come to my room."
After saying this in a bad mood, Lin Hu walked right past Duan Linzhou, brushed past him, went out the door, and turned to go upstairs.
Lin Hu sat on a lounge chair in the room. When the two opened the door and came in, Lin Hu saw Ling Jiuqi following behind Duan Linzhou, carrying two white books in her hands.
