Chapter 31 Vanavie

Upon receiving Lin Hu's video call, Duan Linzhou immediately moved his system interface further away so that the people around him could watch it together.

However, they found a green RV parked blatantly at the entrance of a village, less than fifty meters away.

Lin Hu originally wanted to fly back first to discuss the current situation, since it was already so obvious, or he could just talk to them directly.

But as Lin Hu turned around, a sound that he had recently become very familiar with came from behind him—an arrow!

Fortunately, Lin Hu reacted quickly, doing a somersault in the air to dodge the attack, but he still got a cut on his arm.

Lin Hu looked angrily in the direction the arrow came from, and saw a dark-skinned man with colorful feathers stuck in his head and a leopard-print leather skirt around his waist, who was drawing his bow and aiming it at him, ready to fire again.

"Lin Hu, be careful, come back first." Duan Linzhou warned, and he had already gotten up and run out of the RV.

Without Duan Linzhou's light screen, the others also ran out.

Lin Hu swooped down and flew toward the native who was drawing his bow. Just as the man fired his arrow, Lin Hu suddenly disappeared into the air.

The next second, Lin Hu appeared directly in front of them, with a little girl of about eleven or twelve years old beside him.

Unlike the other indigenous person whose skin was so dark that you couldn't see their face, this little girl had yellowish-black skin, and her hair was matted and tangled because it hadn't been styled.

At this moment, Lin Hu had tied him up with ropes, and a steamed bun had been stuffed into his mouth to muffle his noise.

The girl seemed to only then realize her situation; tears welled up in her beautiful eyes instantly, and she struggled a few times.

"Don't move!" Lin Hu was still upset with the local who had just shot the arrow, so his voice became harsher.

"Go back to the RV, Duan Linzhou, go get the car, let's leave here first." Lin Hu said, pulling the little girl, who had calmed down, into the RV.

Feeling the little girl's trembling body in panic, Lin Hu got into the car, locked the doors and windows, and then untied her.

"Xiao Hu, what's going on?" Duan Bohai gestured to the little girl and asked Lin Hu.

"I saw that there were quite a few people guarding this girl, so I grabbed her." Lin Hu couldn't explain it clearly at the moment, but in that instant, when he glanced at the little girl, his instinct told him to grab her.

"What happened to you just now? You suddenly disappeared," Wen Mofei asked.

"Don't you guys have this?" Lin Hu took out a teleportation card and showed it to everyone, wondering why this wasn't something you could get by opening a treasure chest.

"Teleportation function card!" Wen Mofei reached out and took it in his hand to examine it.

"I opened a lot of treasure chests and only got two useless, mediocre function cards," Wen Mofei said, taking out his two white lace-patterned cards.

A Transformation Card that can transform into any animal and possess its characteristics. A Power Card with a six-hour duration.

Lin Hu wondered, was Wen Mofei too unlucky? Or was Duan Linzhou's protagonist aura too strong?

"What should we do with this child?" Aunt Jiang asked Lin Hu, glancing at the little girl who was trembling but couldn't help eating the bun stuffed in her mouth.

"Let's ask about their tribe first. She should be able to understand us." Lin Hu thought to himself that when he told her to shut up earlier, she clearly understood him.

The group turned their attention back to the little girl. She didn't dare to look up, keeping her head down as if she sensed something. Her body trembled even more violently.

"Are you still hungry?" Lin Hu asked softly, as if he wasn't the one who had just told someone to shut up.

No one else spoke; they waited for the little girl's answer.

The little girl cautiously looked up at the group, seeing that they all had smiling faces. She wasn't particularly afraid anymore, and nodded while still keeping her body hunched over.

“…Hmm.” The voice was childish and hoarse.

Lin Hu brought someone a cup of hot soy milk and took out a few hot steamed buns from the warehouse.

They handed the food to each other one by one, and the other person ate it one by one. When they got to the third one, the little girl was obviously eating slower.

Lin Hu then realized that she probably thought she would get beaten up if she didn't finish her food.

"If you can't eat, then don't. Don't force yourself." Lin Hu pushed the soy milk towards the other person.

The little girl drank a few sips of soy milk and swallowed the meat bun that was waiting in her chest.

"Can we talk now?" Lin Hu asked.

"Mmm." The little girl remained huddled up, nodding timidly.

“Uncle Duan, you ask him.” Lin Hu said to Duan Bohai, who was sitting on the opposite sofa.

"Hmm." Duan Bohai nodded and looked at the little girl sitting on a small stool in the open space to the side.

"May I have your name?"

"Wa...Wa Na Wei." The little girl trembled in fright at Duan Bohai's imposing aura.

How many people are in your tribe?

"I...I don't know." Vanavie thought for a moment, but couldn't remember how many people there were.

"have no idea?"

"Yes, people are dying in the tribe every day. There used to be more than 500, but now... I don't know." Vanavie quickly explained, afraid that the other person would think she was lying.

"Why do people die every day?" Duan Bohai continued to ask.

"They starved to death, or were killed by monsters while hunting. There were many," Vanavie said, lost in memories.

"At first, the adults in our tribe went out to find food, but about ten days ago, strange things appeared around us. We called it fog. Once we went in, we couldn't find our way home."

Those who went out never returned, so we ran out of food, and then people in the tribe began to die.

"Grandpa Vas said they were chosen by God to be servants, and they were lucky. Their bodies left on earth are God's reward to us, and we...we are lucky too," Wanawi said, silently lowering her head. She knew, in truth, that there was no God in this world.
