Chapter 4 Monkeys

Lin Hu planted the plants and glanced at the pear trees. They were still four days away from the pear trees' growth period, and they would only start bearing fruit after four days. The rice, on the other hand, was fine; it would be ripe the day after tomorrow.

After planting grapes and cherries, the grapes showed a growth rate of 72 hours, while the cherries took longer, about a week.

Lin Hu left a grape vine, intending to take it to the raft and plant it in the newly acquired black soil to see how quickly the seed would grow without the nourishment of the spiritual spring and mountain. Before leaving, he filled a bowl with spiritual spring water and put it in his backpack, planning to check the original time before watering the grapes with the spring water.

Lin Hu returned to the raft, planted the seeds, and observed their growth rate over a week. He then poured in the spiritual spring water, shortening the time to five days. It seemed that the soil on the island was of similar quality to the high-grade black soil on the raft. The island's soil must have been nourished by the spiritual spring and the spiritual mountain, each providing half of the plant's growth time, which explained its shorter growth period.

Lin Hu watched for a while, then came back to sleep.

He was still thinking before going to sleep that he needed to upgrade the island quickly, otherwise his backpack really couldn't hold up.

His backpack was almost full, and most of his supplies were left on the raft, making it look a bit messy.

The next day, as soon as it was light, Lin Hu got up to wash and get ready. Duan Linzhou got up even earlier and was already fishing for treasure chests.

After washing up, Lin Hu upgraded the raft, which had just reached the upgrade level, on the light screen.

Upon reaching level two, the raft remained unchanged, but the system did. A new house model shop was added, offering a wide variety of house types, from old, dilapidated apartments to luxurious villas.

However, Linhu is currently only at level two, so it can only view level one and two room types. Other room types are blurred and locked, and cannot be clicked.

Lin Hu randomly clicked on a house type he could view, and a house model that could rotate 360° appeared on the system panel. He could also click to play a video to see the general layout of the interior.

Lin Hu clicked on the video to watch. It was a one-bedroom apartment with a separate bathroom. The bathroom was partitioned off, while the bed, living room, and kitchen were all in one open space.

Lin Hu didn't like it; he liked cooking, but that would produce a lot of oily fumes.

Afterwards, Lin Hu looked at several apartments, and finally settled on a one-bedroom, one-bathroom, one-living room apartment of about ten square meters. He had all the materials he needed, but even with the apartment layout, he was missing the soft furnishings, which the player would have to solve himself.

After choosing a house type, Lin Hu browsed the chat interface for a while and found that others had also triggered a special encounter. Only then did he remember that he also had a special encounter waiting for him to complete.

Saved adventures will automatically expire after 24 hours.

Lin Hu quickly got up, washed up, put on his shoes, told Duan Linzhou, took some fruit from the locker for breakfast, and then, with his axe and bow and arrow, began his adventure and was teleported directly to the mission island.

He even carried his important belongings with him when he left, fearing that Duan Linzhou would put his position up for sale on the trading market.

Lin Hu searched the island for nearly an hour but found no peach trees; it's still under protection. As long as Lin Hu doesn't provoke anything, he doesn't need to worry about being suddenly attacked.

Lin Hu, looking at a mutated brown bear in the forest below, had an idea.

The brown bear, just lying there, was three meters long. Its brown fur was speckled with black patches, and its belly had a large, dark patch. There was also a faint smell of blood in the air.

Looking at the brown bear's exhausted appearance, it must be its own blood. If it hadn't been injured, Lin Hu wouldn't have dared to lay a hand on it.

Lin Hu flew lower and landed on a branch of a large tree. Perhaps it was because Lin Hu got close that the brown bear noticed its scent, and it immediately got up from the ground, dragging its limping leg and swaying as it sniffed the surrounding air.

Fortunately, the trees have now grown much taller due to the infection and mutation. Lin Hu used the tree trunks and leaves as cover, drew his bow, aimed at the brown bear's wound, and with a "whoosh," hit the bullseye quickly and accurately.

The brown bear roared in pain and climbed back up the tree where Lin Hu had just been standing.

Lin Hu immediately changed positions after shooting, then drew his bow and fired again in one smooth motion. After shooting, he changed positions again, repeating this several times until the brown bear was left with only one breath left, lying on the ground panting weakly.

Lin Hu only has three arrows left. As long as the arrows aren't damaged, they can be reused. However, if these last three arrows fail to hit and kill the brown bear, then all the arrows he has fired cannot be retrieved.

But Lin Hu was a master archer. He fired three arrows simultaneously, capturing the brown bear.

nice one!

Lin Hu happily accepted the gift, then searched for another half hour but still couldn't find any peach trees.

Thinking about that silly monkey that can't even climb down a tree, I suddenly realized something.

Lin Hu flew even higher, and looking at a tree trunk that stood out from the crowd in the distance, Lin Hu wondered if it was a peach tree.

As they flew closer, Lin Hu looked up at the tree trunk, which was so thick that even twenty people might not be able to encircle it. It was too high up; he could only vaguely make out that the leaves were purple. No wonder he couldn't remember it at first. Plants in the post-apocalyptic world had all mutated, and there were all sorts of strangely shaped trees and leaves. He naturally assumed it was green leaves or pink flowers.

Lin Hu flew upwards along the tree, and slowly, a huge tree crown, resembling a large purple mushroom, came into clear view.

Lin Hu wandered through the treetops, searching for a long time, but before he saw any monkeys, he had already collected eight peaches that were about the size of basketballs.

A few minutes later, Lin Hu found a huge bird's nest in the canopy. Lin Hu had been searching on the branches, never expecting to find a bird's nest built in the canopy, swaying precariously.
